meh is all i can say. ordered several items for myself. to start, i got the spicy garlic edamame. when it was first brought to my table, it smelled like old kimchi. if u are korean or familiar with kimchi, the smell of old kimchi is sour and not pleasant. but i did finish it. i then got the agedashi tofu which was good. just wish they had ginger to eat with. i also ordered the tuna poki salad. nasty! the tuna had a greyish coloring and did not taste fresh. it was sour! took couple bites out of it, picked out the tuna to the side. could not eat more than 2 bites. was hoping the waitress would ask if there were any problems with it, but no. the red dragon roll… it was sour too. it is either their tuna or their sauce, spicy mayo or unagi sauce. good thing is that their shrimp tempura inside was warm. ate 2 pieces out of the 9 pieces served. did not finish or take it to go. their baked mussels were not cooked all the way. wish they put more sauce on it because since it was not cooked all the way, it was chewy and bland. their mochi. it could have been my fault for not being clear. after being told what flavors were available, i ordered chocolate and strawberry, thinking 2 pcs were an order. but it was 3 bucks for one piece. sure they took the effort to plating it like a flower but had to ask for anothwr strawberry since it was obvious the outer rice cake was not good. i will not return or recommend.

Very good. Only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star rating is that I don’t feel like I even know enough about sushi to tell what 5 star sushi tastes like.

Was in search of a place to eat after the comedy show(yes the early show) and found this place one block away. Came here to see how good the sushi is and wow I was very impressed. The rolls are very good, fresh and tasty. We decided to get a fried roll as well as two regular rolls, they were very good. The miso soup is outstanding and very fresh, not like someplace use a can soup. The place was clean and the service was good, what I did enjoy too was the green hot tea. It had a different taste from what I am used to, but in a very good way. The location is a small one so you have to be careful when you are walking by as you might miss it especially after a few drinks someplace else. If you are looking for a local place to enjoy some fresh, high quality sushi and other items, I would highly recommend this place as one you much try.

Their bento box I had while visiting San Jose was amazing. Will be back next year for sure if I’m still attending the annual convention.

Everything was okay. We were a really large party and the food was average to me. Nothing good but nothing bad.

This sushi is amazing! My coworkers and I can’t get enough of it. I am really picky with my sushi, especially since I just started liking it. And I must say out of all the places I’ve ate sushi at, this by far is the best. They are really nice too!

Always quick and friendly for lunch or dinner, I think they do the best 49er roll because the lemons are sliced so thin!

Traditional sushi that’s delicious. For me it’s all about quality when I eat sushi and I think Ozu has some of the best in Downtown San Jose!

Our party of 4 ordered 3 rolls and a kastu don. The food was pretty tasty but a little slow to come out because they only had one chef working at the time. The waiters were kinda slow because they only had two working at the time. Over all, it was a pleasant visit a though it was a first visit. I would come back again and try their other rolls too.

The sushi was very decent, fulfilled a Japanese craving on a weekday afternoon. I ordered a Rock n Roll(unagi, avocado, tobiko) and it was quite alright. Nothing superbly fancy, and it wasn’t bad. Just right. This place is suitable for a quick bite, or a casual dining experience. I particularly enjoyed that they had simple«elevator music» on in the background instead of rock music.

This place was very good! We ordered four rolls to split, and they did not disappoint. Fried Philly roll is my go to roll, and theirs was very good. I believe we also had a fried spider roll, the 49ers roll, and one more, it was something with salmon and lemon. Their eel sauce is different than other sushi places I’ve had, but it could be the area? I’m not sure why it would be different. A pleasant surprise is the free miso soup before your sushi comes, and a free scoop of green tea(matcha) ice cream after your meal. It is very good! The service was good as well. I would definitely recommend this and come back again.

My husband & I didn’t have a lot if time for lunch. We stopped in to order a couple of rolls, it was great! We ordered the Yellow tale Hamachi & The Red dragon roll along w/The Dragon roll. Very friendly & fast service. Cute atmosphere w/contemporary music & murals on their walls with hanging lanters. I redeemed my free ice cream on this app & it was delicious!

Great find! Adorable little sushi place next to Nemea, which I’ve walked by many times and never had a chance to go to. I’m assuming every roll/entrée comes with miso soup, which was delicious. Pretty salty and spicy, not in a peppery sort of way, but very flavorful. They didn’t provide us with spoons. so we just sipped from the bowl. Not sure if that is typical but I didn’t mind. I ordered the Mango a Go Go roll and it is actually the best special roll I’ve ever had. The fish was good, the pieces were a reasonable size, and I loved the combination of the fish, rice, sauces, ginger, and the soft mango they used. I’ve had rolls with mango on them before, and the pieces were always too big. These were just right. The green tea ice cream was good, but it didn’t taste like green tea ice cream. Huge serving though, which was nice for a free serving :)

We came at 11:30 right when they opened for lunch, Leah was ready for us and sat us. Miso soup and salads were out quickly. We were a group of 8, but food was fast to come out of the kitchen. I got a bento box with 3 items; teriyaki chicken, gyoza, and a california roll($ 12.95). The bento box was tasty except for the teriyaki chicken which was kind of rubbery and tasteless. The rainbow rolls were very nicely done, and tasted fresh. It was a solid for lunch with average prices, and I will return and try it out again! It was super convenient to walk to, and the light rail ran right outside.

Oooozzzuuuu. I love you. Coming in to Ozu was not our first choice. We had planned on visiting another sushi restaurant downtown, but happened upon Ozu. It was cold, it looked quaint, we gave it a shot. I am so happy we did! We had the best experiences there(went back two weeks after the first visit). The service is incredible, and is by far the best part of the restaurant. I do love the vibe inside, it’s quite small, so it has a really good atmosphere. The server, David(? — I ask every time and forget every time), is amazing. Seriously, he’s incredibly friendly and attentive. Every time I eat sushi, I order a side of Unagi sauce with my rolls. It’s very rare for them to bring it to me before the rolls(I almost always have to remind servers). Not him! It was at our table before our rolls. We were treated to free miso soup once, and free edamame the other time. I believe that it was more about how long we’d have to wait for our rolls that designated what he brought us, but it was awesome! I love that they care about their customers enough to do that, it makes us want to come back. The food is really good too, although I am not a sushi connesueir. I was always happy with everything we ordered, most recently, the Lion King roll(fabulous). Everything else has been perfect for us as well. We will now be regulars to Ozu. The service is our favorite part, and the food is great.

We decided to grab some dinner near by the hotel and decided to try out Ozu Sushi and Grill. It was within walking distance and we were in the mood for some sushi. We sat at the sushi bar towards the back and ordered up a bottle of Ozeki Nigori Sake and the chili garlic edamame. Service was very slow for sitting right at the bar, although there were two other waitresses managing a half full restaurant. We ordered the Sashimi dinner which I thought was excellent; my boyfriend thought the pieces were a little too big for bite size. I ordered a miso soup and a tobiko roll next, which were ok. Then for a final plate, we ordered the Hamachi Lovers roll — which was perfect since we love Hamachi. We ordered a large Sapparo to go with the final plates. Food was good, but we ended up waiting long periods between dishes. I thought that maybe this place is new given that there are not as many reviews as the surrounding businesses, so I didn’t let that affect my experience.

This used to be «Smile Sushi». I like them then, and I still like them now. Though the menu changed, nothing changed drastically. I ordered«Mango-Go-Go» and one other roll which were both yummy. I just realized that I didn’t get a bowl of edamame, which I used to get when they are«Smile Sushi» as お通し. I guess I will have to earn my place over the time.

If you’re craving for some Japanese food around the downtown area, Ozu can a decent option. That was me on a Saturday night and I ordered a Katsudon and a Shark Roll for myself. The katsudon was very average. I love katsudons and I could have made a better one myself. The onion pieces were large, the eggs were ok, and the katsu was a little tough and hard to chew. The whole bowl was a little«liquidy» in general. Also, the bowl came with a spoon inside it. I didn’t think much about it until I realized that I’ve never been served anything at a restaurant where the utensil is already stuck inside the food. The shark roll had unagi, avocado, crab, and cream cheese on the inside + spicy tuna and fish eggs on the outside. Just for kicks, it also came with sweet potato fries! That’s quite a lot in a single roll. Though the addition of the sweet potato fries seemed gimmicky, the roll as a whole actually came together nicely. I would probably get it again. Lastly, the service was… interesting. The place was pretty empty considering that it’s a Saturday night. The miso soup was served w/o a spoon and the sushi was served w/o any sauce tray. I had to ask the sushi chefs(who were really nice!) for them. The credit card machine also broke and I had to wait an extra 15 min just so that I can pay and leave.
