$ 5 for the coffee? And it was only made with a bag of instant Vietnamese coffee instead of drip coffee. It’s about $ 1.50 more expensive than other store, I would rather give that out as tips, because the cashier was super nice and did a very good job, which you barely see in other fast-food stores. Sandwich is cold and not crispy, meat portion is just of normal amount, not so tasteful.

Yes… Their banh mi aren’t as big as they use to be. I do get bummed when I think about how much we use to get everytime I pick up some of their sandwiches. But hey, it’s still pretty cheap compared to most other places AND for the same size. Gotta stop living in the past and move forward. It’s probably a good thing for my waistline anyways.

$ 5 foot long banh mi! That’s freakin cheap and not to mention it was mouthwatering delicious! I had the #6: light and crispy baguette filled with generous amount of grilled pork, mayo, butter and the sweet-tangy veggies. The pork is really flavorful, albeit a little hard, it tastes almost like a jerky to me. But together with the rest of the fillings, it was very satisfying and exotic flavor-packed sandwich. I was in and out the store in 5 mins, great spot for that BIG, quick and cheap banh mi fix!

It’s about time I do something good for this store. One of my favorite places for vietnamese sandwiches. I’m not sure if it’s really good or really good for the price… I say both! But not only is it tasty and cheap… It comes in large portions. One easily gets me full.

My go to favorite Vietnamese sandwich place! Super cheap(1 big sandwich that can feed 2 people so it’s like 2 sandwiches for $ 5)! They don’t skimp on the ingredients either so everything is stuffed as much as possible without things coming out of the sandwhich. My only issue with this place is that they don’t accept card, only cash. Other than that, I love this place here!

Humongous sandwiches is putting it mildly. «One» sandwich can feed four people! Great fillings, spreads, meats, and breads. I’ve gotten several of the types of sandwiches including the house special and all are great. Small grocery in the sandwich shop sells pâté, snacks, to-go items, etc. Everything is good. Oh, and also got some great tinned butter here as well.

I have never in my life ever had a baguette sandwich as the ones you get from phat tr! My bf decided to order 5 sandwiches since he eats at least 3 times a day. He was expecting small sandwiches, but after looking into our bag, we were shocked on how many rolls we had. They split the sandwich in half for you, so one order comes out as two. We definitely over ordered! This place offers buy 5 and get 1 free, so with ended up with 12 decently sized sandwiches. We ordered the dac biet(combo), thit nuong(grilled beef), and nem nuong. I really liked all 3 sandwiches. They were all seasoned very well. And most importantly, they stuff the sandwiches with a bunch of meat. They definitely do not skimp out on that. Veggies were stacked on top as well. Let’s start off with the baguette. The bread was fresh and chewy, which is what I like. The outside had a slight crunch, letting you know it was made that day. The inside of the bread was soft and chewy. The bread is to die for. The meats for all 3 types of sandwiches were seasoned very well. You can smell and taste the ingredients they used. Ahhh… I can’t to eat it again tomorrow. Even when you microwave it, it’s still very good. In fact, you can smell the seasoning even more. The only downfall is that they use too much fat for th spread. I’d ask for less next time. Other than that, the sandwiches are great. I am coming back! Continue doing what you guys do Thank you for packing the baguettes with a bunch of meat!

this place is the best BanhMi investment eve!!! took a gamble on trying out the spot at story rd based on Unilocal reviews. BOOM, a hit! parking sucked arse but it is what it is in small corner block of asian establishments lol their sandwhiches remind me if the ‘good ol days’ when we used to refer to BanhMi as ‘dolla sandwhiches’ in the hood. they are waaaay better than the commercial kind at Lees. the secret is in their PATE’ and special MAYO. got TWO locations, story and mckee!!! sandwhiches are $ 5 dolla and big enough that they cut em in half so each feeds twi people or one hungry mofo GOGETTHAT asap!!!

This place makes the best sandwiches! They are quick and are generous with the ingredients. I used to go to Huong Lan, but I haven’t been there ever since I tried a sandwich from Phat Tri. I always eat half for lunch and save the other half for dinner. My favorite is the thit nuong which is grilled pork. The meat is very flavorful and there’s a good amount of meat in the sandwich. Sometimes I can’t find parking in front of Phat Tri so I park by the entrance/exit near McLaughlin.

GETYOURBANHMI’S IN A BUNDLE! BUY5GETONEFREE! This is my favorite place to get banh mi’s. I came here several times over the years after my boyfriend introduced me to this place. The sandwiches are huge! Each sandwich is wrapped separately in two so it is convenient if you plan to save half for later. but you do need to save the other half for later because they are huge! I usually get #1 which is combination of meat. The sandwich is loaded with tasty meat and lots of mayo and pâté spreaded in between a fluffy baguette which makes it moist and even tastier. For $ 5, this is such a bargain. If you buy 5, you get one free!

Hands down my favorite place in the South Bay for Banh Mi Sandos! Phat Tri definitely lives up to its name as in Phat sandos! The banh mi itself is baked inhouse… yes NOT all banh mi shops bake their own. I like to stick with the OG combination AKA dac biet and they don’t skimp on the head cheese and the pork roll. John D. has some great shot of these gut bombs! I know if your in SJ banh mi shops are like a dime a dozen… but I’m telling you don’t sleep on Phat Tri. Now if your a settler than go enjoy your banh mi at Lee’s Sandwiches which I like to refer as the McDonald’s of banh mi! Nuff said.

Where have all the good vietnamese sandwiches gone to? Now days the sandwich are all small and not enough meat. Until now. This place surprise you. Checkout how big their sandwhich are. $ 5 for two fully loaded subs. Buy 5 get one free! What?! This is my go to sandwhich spot everytime I’m in SJ now. Mind blown. Cheap, huge sandwhich, and their vietnamese coffee is tha bomb! Make sure you shake your cup and let the ice melt first, because it’s a bit on the sweet side.

This is by far my favorite place to get banh mi sandwiches. Their sandwiches are extremely affordable for the size. They also stuff their sandwiches with lots of meat, mayo, and pâté. The mayo and pâté are the best part as it keeps the sandwich from being too dry. They also give a ton of pickled veggies, which is always a plus. Sadly, minus one star since their sandwiches aren’t as big as they used to be.

Phat Tri, where have you been all my li-i-i-i-ife? I didn’t even have to go here to deem this place 5 stars. My sister and her husband brought home five Vietnamese Sandwiches, which surprisingly turned into 10 sandwiches due to their awesome portion sizes. Apparently, one banh mi(Vietnamese sandwich) is a huge foot long divided into two individual sizes for just $ 5.00. What a steal, if only I’ve known about this place earlier! So if you’re looking for an affordable and tasty lunch or dinner, all you need is a five dollar bill and a hungry stomach! What’s even better than the price? The Vietnamese sandwiches here taste AMAZING and I have tried plenty of banh mis all over the San Jose area. I loved both the Grilled Pork and Special banh mi sandwiches so I would recommend trying both. The bread tastes very fresh and is not hard like other breads I’ve had. My only concern would be the minimal amount of vegetables that they give to you in a separate bag. If anything, I would ask for extra vegetables next time since I do not think that two vegetable bags is reasonable to fill ten sandwiches. Since my sister gave us five sandwiches, I think I will be having a strict Banh Mi diet for the next few hours, no lie. I will definitely be going here for myself the next time I crave a Vietnamese sandwich fix. What’s even better, my favorite boba store called Soyful Desserts is RIGHT around the corner so I have even more reason to go here!(Heh, double business advertising).

$ 6.00 for #15 I saw the pictures and readthe reviews about this sandwich and i thought i should give them another try. It has been a long time since the last time i came here and i forgot the reason why i stopped coming. So i got #15 sandwich, it looks good on the pictures but in 3D it’s such a disappointment. Not much meat in there, the bread the big and mostly filled with vegies. The spread/pâté they put in there tastes strange to me, not in a good way. So i was half way through my sandwich and i found hair in between the meat and the vegies TOTALTURNOFF immediately throw the rest of the sandwich away. $ 6 for bread and vegies? Totally not worth it. Hair in the meat? Now i remember why i stopped coming here and probably will remember forever never to come back.

FOOD: the sandwiches are huge! This could seriously be 2 meals. — Banh Mi Dac Biet: 4 slices of pork roll, 1 slice of headcheese, 1 slice of ham, pâté, mayo, carrots, daikon, jalapenos, and cilantro. Good amount of meat, but I wish there was a more even amount of each meat. A little more veggies would have been good, as well. 4⁄5 — Banh Mi Thit Nuong: grilled pork, mayo, carrots, daikon, jalapenos, and cilantro. The meat is a little fatty and has too much lemon grass for my liking. 3.5÷5 SERVICE The staff is friendlier than most Vietnamese bakeries I’ve been to. 4⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS I would definitely come back. You really get your money’s worth here. Plus, they have deals like buy 5 sandwiches, get 1 free. Pretty awesome.

California Trip #3 High on my list for my trip was to eat bánh mì in California. There are very few places in Hampton Roads that serve bánh mì, and I was interested to find out how different the sandwiches would be. My friend, Sissi K., was kind enough to take me to Phat Tri(PT) after our dinner together. Let’s see how an east coast bánh mì compares to a west coast one. I ordered(well, Sissi actually ordered it for me) their #6 – Thit Nuóng(grilled pork) with egg added in. They cut it in half and wrapped each separately. I brought my enormous sandwich back to my hotel room, and put it in the fridge for the next day. Packed in a cooler, I drove to San Francisco early the next morning. I ate half for breakfast and the other half for lunch. The meat was definitely different from the east coast. The grilled pork looked similar but tasted sweet; I was surprised when I took a bite. It wasn’t bad – just different, but I’d rather have grilled pork without the sweetness. I loved the egg added especially during breakfast, and I haven’t seen that back here in Virginia. The bread was soft and wonderful; my first time trying bánh mì in Richmond, VA was delicious, but the bread beat up my mouth. Lastly, their«cilantro» didn’t have a very strong flavor – not sure if they were using something else or not. I’ve got to have my cilantro! Overall, PT’s bánh mì was delicious, but I expected some«OMG! Factor» when I experienced it. Honestly, our bánh mì on the east coast is pretty good compared to the west. The big difference is value, of course. $ 6 for basically two packed full sandwiches is a steal. A regular bánh mì out here in VA is about $ 6, but half the size and less stingy with the ingredients. If I lived in San Jose, I would love to try out their different meats. PT’s bánh mì would be a great choice for a road trip for my three growing boys.

Omg. This has got to be my favorite Vietnamese sandwich spot in San Jose. Thanh Huong was my favorite until I stumbled upon this place. It’s so crazy because I remember coming here as a kid but it wasn’t until the other day I decided to stop by and try their sandwiches. I never knew how good their sandwiches were or maybe I never realized it because it’s been so long. The ladies here are super sweet and welcoming. I got the #1 Phat Tri Combination Special. I really wanted to try their #15 sandwich which is their Nem Nuong Sandwich but they ran out. I absolutely love Nem Nuong! The past few times I went here, they ran out. It must be really popular! Need to get here early lol Prices are around $ 5 – 6 dollars depending on the sandwich. You really get your bang for your buck here. It feels like you’re getting two sandwiches because they cut it in half and I get full off just one half. Go here for your $ 5 dollar footlongs lol Taste is phenomenal. They use the skinny baguettes here. There is a perfect amount of meat, daikon, carrots, veggies, pâté, and mayo. Ugh I can’t get over it. It’s so good! Tip: If you order 5 sandwiches you get the 6th one free. Parking: Small Parking lot shared with other small shops and Com Tam Thanh. I hope this place doesn’t blow up. It’s really good. :)

Phát Trí(PT) is a Bánh mì shop in an area that literally has at least one, or two, on every corner. This kind of glut can cause places to just blend in with the crowd, unless you offer up something unique to offer. PT’s claim-to-fame was always their tremendous value: huge sandwiches for little dough. I was not too impressed with my first few forays into PT, as I felt like the bread was inconsistent and the meat was just so-so. However, my desire for good value(read: lots of food for little cash) kept me coming back, and I’m glad I did. Their quality and consistency has become much better over the past two years, and they’ve quickly become one of my favorites. Bread– This is easily my favorite Bánh mì bread that I’ve experienced; soft, fluffy and just a hint of sweetness puts this French loaf at the top of my charts. It doesn’t have that hard, thick crust that most others have. So, there’s no «Cap’n Crunch» effect on your mouth whatsoever and, for that, I thank you. 5* Veggies– They’ve got your usual array of Bánh mì veggies: Cilantro, Cucumbers, Pickled Daikon and Pickled Carrots. They give a fair amount that balance the sandwich out pretty well. They will occasionally slip in some Parsley – or some other variant?! – maybe when they run out of Cilantro? I didn’t mind it, but one of the boys at work was very thrown off by it. People are too delicate these days… 3.5* Meat– I’ve only tried a few of their countless(actually 32) Bánh mì assortment, and they’ve all been passable to very good. The only one I would not recommend is their #5: Xá Xíu(BBQ Pork), as I found it to be a little dry, and generally underwhelming. Their #1: Phát Trí Dâc Biêt(House Special) and #6: Thit Nuóng(Grilled Pork) are both really good, and would recommend both highly. However, my new current favorite is the #15: Nem Chua Nuóng(Grilled Sweet & Sour Garlic Pork Sausage) is fantastic! Apparently, this sausage is usually served up as a snack, and not typically available in a Bánh mì. The pork had a nice sweetness, and tasted almost like it was pickled(?) as the tart, garlicky aftertaste mixed with their bread and veggies really made my tastebuds dance the Macarena. It’s a must try! 3−5* Service & Ambiance– Located in a decrepit strip mall at the heart of SJ’s Little Saigon District, the parking lot usually has the smell of stale urine, and the occasional borracho sleeping one off in the bushes. The interior is cramped and full of all kinds of Vietnamese goodies, but I don’t usually come here for the ambiance – just to grab-&-go! The service is actually ridiculously friendly for a Viet shop, and the owner is usually hanging around keeping the worker bees in-line. Service 4*/ Ambiance 2.5* Value– This is PT’s strong suit, as for $ 5 – 6 you get x2 ±7″ sandwiches that’s certainly big enough to share – but why would you do that?! *oink oink* Everyone complains that the prices have gone up(used to be $ 4) and the sandwiches have gotten smaller(used to be x2 ±8″), but that’s the sign of the time, folks. Deal with it. 5* Phát Trí(PT) is a stalwart competitor in Little Saigon’s fierce Bánh mì battle. I don’t think they’ve replaced my current #1(Thien Huong) –which is literally across the street– but they’re pretty close. Highly recommended for a good, fast, cheap and filling Vietnamese sandwich.

I like the sandwiches here, though kinda pricey at $ 5 each, they really don’t skimp on the meat. They cut one sandwich in half so you get two(approx) 6″ sandwiches. Buy 5 get 1FREE. No signs that says that so I guess you better ask. The cold cut quality is great, love their Phat Tri special. The drinks are kinda expensive. $ 2 – 3 for drinks that’s normally like $ 1.25 elsewhere. I say drive thru McDonald’s for $ 1 coke.
