I came to South Side community center because Evergreen Community Center was full for the«Little Learners» class I was hoping to get my 3 year old into. I walked in to sign up my son and was greeted by Christy and her staff. Christy was really informative and gave me a tour of the campus and showed me where my son would eventually take classes(I never received any of that at Evergreen, most likely because I signed up online). The classroom area is gated and the kids play area is shared with another class of kids of the same age. We have Ms. Gavin, I really like her and the assistant. They are both nice ladies and Ive never had an issue asking questions or having a conversation with them. Her class size is small. There were only 10 kids in the class, which I LOVED. While at Evergreen there were 22 kids with 2 teachers. I wouldn’t have minded so much if the kids all spoke English or didn’t cry every single day. On my sons’ first day. A boy came over introduced himself and they took off playing together. I know my son enjoys his class and teacher, he’s never said anything bad about the kids, and names off who is his best friend is when we are driving away. I feel that the kids in her class are all very well behaved. The parents also seem very friendly :) Ms. Gavin(im assuming this) teaches the kids about their feelings & emotions. I’ve heard my son at home express himself and say«I’m really angry» or «I’m really emotional» even though he really wasn’t angry, expressing how you feel is a pretty big skill! I really feel this location is very well organized. Each week there is a list of what they will be learning about. There also was a calendar posted of when Ms Gavin would be away(communicated well in advanced!) and plenty of notices posted when the campus would be closed due to a holiday. I also just received a letter stating where and when the graduation would be and when the last day. So basically lots of communication!

My kids go to the summer camp. Pros: — They have a field trip each week to fun places — Kids made lots of friends — The fees are cheaper than other camps(full day 8am — 6pm is $ 185/week) — They do daily organized activities and arts and crafts. Cons: — They have to play ball outside in the heat. Staff should limit outside activities to the mornings when it’s not as hot. — They don’t serve lunch
