this place is very downtown. definitely explains why the Whispers that opened off Hostetter got shut down. This place is off 2nd St across SJSU. Pay parking lot available if u can not find a street parking spot. large dining area, plenty of seating, good place for brunch happy hour from 3−7p

This place is awful! Eggs were overcooked & when I told the Manager he didn’t even offer to replace it or refund it. Never again!

If you’re in San José for any convention and looking for a place to eat for Sunday Brunch, give this place a shot. They have incredible happy hour specials. Literally a pitcher of margarita for 20 bucks on happy hour 7 days a week! No joke. Also their omelettes and breakfast meals are incredible.

I give this place 5 stars for being the most convenient and decent brunch place in SouthBay. It has saved me a couple times when Bills Café wait is ridiculous and when there’s 8 of my group decided to go for brunch on the day after christmas. SP2 and Farmers decided not to open, even when they said they would. So Whispers was there to save the day!

Showed up at a perfect time today when it wasn’t busy, so the food came out really quickly. Crêpe stack was thin but very yummy. Also got the banana smoothie which was a little icier than need be but still good. I’ll be back for sure!

Came on for breakfast at 9:30 on a Tuesday, so I had the place to myself. Friendly service, nice view, and my crêpe was great! I tried the Buenos with ham no mushrooms and it was fantastic.

My first time was last Sunday. My wife has been dying to give this place a shot, primarily because she loves crepes and this is suppose to be the place . She was not disappointed at all. In fact she loved it. The price was low and the crêpe was perfect. Plenty too eat and so tasty . The servers are very polite. You do order from the counter, then your food arrives soon enough. The servers do pay attention to your needs . I had the omelet. It was good enough and well priced. We will return for sure.

I ate here twice on my visit to San Jose. The first time I got a veggie scramble and house potatoes. The potatoes are very good. The scramble… ehhh…the veggie to egg ratio was off. Too much spinach and mushrooms compared to the amount of eggs used. My boyfriend got a scramble with meat. He enjoyed it. The second time I got French toast. Or should I say grilled buttered Texas toast? It did not taste like it had any egg batter on it at all. My boyfriend had the Nutella crepes, and they were pretty good. Maybe I just ordered the wrong food. But the server was polite and they refilled our glasses a couple of times. The food just left much to be desired.

This place was near my school and I was craving breakfast with my SO, so we opted for whispers because we never tried it. Cashier was doing excellent service in getting the orders, chef were getting the food plated, however, servers… not so well. Chefs rung the bell to request the plates to be taken away to the tables, but the servers were either not responding or very slow at coming to get the plates out. By the time our food was done cooking, it was already cooled down and sitting on the counter for a good 5 mins before the servers brought the plates to our table. I was greatly disappointed. There were many plates ready, yet they were not served out. The chef did not even have enough room to put more plates anymore! Food wise, the French toast with fruits was okay, and the California Benedict was superb. The potatoes were a bit too big so it didn’t quite match our tastes. Maybe if the food was served right away, there might be a difference in taste.

i came here with two friends for brunch after running a race in downtown sj. it was a very HOT day so we were very happy to have been able to score a table inside the air conditioned restaurant. seating was also available on their patio, but we’d have enough of being outside on this day. as with all whispers restaurants(and crepevines and squat and gobbles), you queue up to the register, order your food, pay, and get a number to put on your table so the staff knows where to bring your order. i chose the buenos savory crêpe which came with chicken apple sausage, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. i requested egg whites only and light on the cheese. this entrée also came with a choice of mixed green salad, fruit, french fries, or potatoes on the side, of which, i chose the mixed green salad. since it was quite a busy saturday morning, the line was quite long, at least 20+ minutes to get to the front of the line, and then another 15 – 20 minutes before our food was ready. at least the crêpe was hot and very tasty, and they got all of my modifications right(i.e. egg whites, light cheese). the crêpe itself was quite good, made just right, and they filled it quite well with the egg whites and chicken apple sausage… i’m happy that they didn’t skimp on the protein! the salad was pretty standard, raw mixed greens with shredded carrots on top and a balsamic vinaigrette type dressing. all in all, a decent amount of food for $ 10. since we parked in a nearby garage, we were told that we’d be able to get 2 hours free validation with our meal. before leaving, we asked the waitress about this and she brought us a pink ticket to use for the parking machine. after we walked to the garage and inserted the ticket, it was denied! when we looked closely, we saw that the date on the pink ticket was june 2015!!! geez, why did she give us a validation ticket that expired 2 months ago? argh!!! since we had to head out, we didn’t bother walking back to the restaurant, we just sucked it up and paid the parking fee and left, disgruntled. i’d probably rate this place a bit higher if it weren’t for the parking validation ticket issue.

We had to stand in a line that was out the door to order our food. The line only grew while we were there. They never opened the second register. When we were finally able to order, there were no clean tables available. The cashier instructed us to grab a dirty one, flag down a busser, and ask him to clean it. Ok… If you want more than one of any of their drinks, order all of them with your food. Otherwise, you get to get up and get back into the horrendous line in order to get another one. Once we secured a clean table, we sat and waited. and waited. No water, no coffee, nothing. We didn’t even have silverware. When our food arrived, we had to ask for our drinks and utensils. When they did finally bring our drinks, they didn’t bring the right amount, nor did we ever get any water. Kersigh. They really need to work on their service, big time. The one redeeming factor for this place is the crepes. I chose the fruit crêpe with yogurt. The fruit was cold and ripe. The granola was bright, crunchy, and well seasoned. It tasted like it had been made the same day. The yogurt wasn’t overly sweet, which was perfect with the sugars from the fruit. The crêpe was the perfect fluffy vessel to host the plate. My buddy ordered the heuvos rancheros and asked for some onion on the side. Again, the service fell flat and he never received them. The cranberry juice was really good. It’s not bitter at all. My friend wasn’t very impressed with her mimosa. No one ever checked on us, no one refilled our coffee. Whispers: Please work on the service because your food deserves better.

Love this place!!! I rarely give a place 5 stars but this one was so amazing. I got the classic eggs Benedict and my boyfriend got the filly with chicken and he really enjoyed it. It’s around lunch time right now and it’s moderately busy but we got served and seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The restaurant is big and has big windows so it makes for good lighting and a casual yet enticing environment. The menu is clearly written on a chalkboard once you walk in. They have a wide children’s menu so you can bring your kiddos here. Everything looked so clean and sharp and overall inviting. I come to San Jose pretty frequently and today was my first time coming here. I will definitely be coming back

This place is perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between :) They have a very big menu of savory and sweet crepes, burgers, and other stuff. You order at the front and they give you a number and they will bring the food to your table :) There was a period of time when I came here like every other week. I usually come here and order the Tetrazzini crêpe –chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, olives, cheese, and pesto– and it use to come with two sides — choice of salad and potatoes, fruits or fries, but now there’s only one side choice. But the house potatoes here are pretty good, so you should pick that as your side: D This place is big and there’s indoor and outdoor seating! Make sure to show your SJSU id for 10% off if you’re a student :)

There are so many options in downtown San Jose that sometimes its just hard to choose where to have lunch. Today I stopped in at Whispers Café to give them a try. I loved the fact that they had a patio with quite a few tables for guests to enjoy this amazing weather we’re having. Everyone looked like they were having a nice time and they were all eating not waiting so that was a great sign. I walked in and was greeted with a very friendly«hello». The restaurant is large and very comfortable. I love that their kitchen area is open and there are stools there that food lovers such as myself can sit and watch the magic happen. The menu is large and I was surprised that they not only served crepes but sandwiches, burgers, salads, full breakfast and had a full bar. I actually was a little overwhelmed with the amount of options I had to choose from. This is in some ways is a good thing. ha! I opted for the Monterey Savory Crêpe. I asked if the peppers and onions were grilled and I was assured they were. Cuz nothing’s worse than a ton of raw crunchy bell peppers in my opinion. The first three ingredients were cheese, more cheese and avocado along with onions and peppers. I decided to sit at one of the stools at the bar area and watch whatever was on TV. My crêpe and side salad came very quickly which was great because I was on a time crunch. Presentation was nice but I was a little sad that the crêpe was smaller than I’d hoped for the price. Side salad: Perfectly dressed, perfect amount. Very simple yet tasty. Monterey Crêpe: Very disappointed. The cheese lover in me was very disappointed that the cheese was almost non-existent and the avocado consisted of 4 small squares. Come on. If those are your first three ingredients then they sure better be the star of the show. Remember I’d asked if the bell peppers and onions were grilled? Well his answer of «yes» was partially true. The onions were perfect! Super sweet and sauted(not grilled) to yummy goodness. But those bell peppers were crunchy and literally filled my entire crêpe. So so so disappointing. As you can see from my picture, I pulled at least a ½ cup of peppers out of my crêpe and left them on my plate. Bummer. Now, as for the actual crêpe … it was SOGOOD! Super soft, perfectly cooked, perfectly light and sweet but not to sweet. I wish I had more. Overall this is a cute place for lunch or brunch. I’ll be back but will order something else next time. Hold the bell peppers please.

I usually come here for brunch and the line is always out the door. So far I’ve ordered the SF Bay crêpe and Bayside. The first time I came here, I ordered the SF Bay crêpe and the salmon in the crêpe was too salty and the house potatoes were way too soft for my liking– almost as if they were undercooked. I personally thought it was okay. As for Bayside– I ordered scrambled eggs, French toast, and substituted the house potatoes with fruits. My french toast came out burnt and lacked flavor which was definitely was not appetizing. Can’t really expect much from here, it’s not like they load your plate with food. I guess in a way it’s similar to Crepevine, although Whispers does not par with Crepevines portion. The menu is huge and overwhelming, the service is okay and the ambiance is nice.

Decent crepes, average eggs benedict, friendly employees, reasonably priced, but something is lacking. Rant: The first time I ate here, I overheard the waiter telling my fellow university classmates that students get a discount when they eat here. The annoying part is, the woman at the register didn’t mention it to me(while wearing a backpack), and she didn’t mention it to my classmates at a different table who were wearing SJSU-printed sweaters and backpacks. The second time I went, the same woman was at the register and took my order, and I asked her if SJSU students get a discount, and she said yes. I showed her my student ID and received a discount. My question is, how are students supposed to get a discount if there’s no signage that lets people know, and the woman at the register doesn’t let you know? The Food #1: I ordered a Tetrazzini crêpe on my first visit, and it was tasty. The ingredients were fresh, and I didn’t have to wait long to receive my order. However, the potatoes that come with every dish were bland and dry. The Food #2: I ordered a plate of California Eggs Benedict on my second visit and had some issues. First, both eggs on my dish were so overcooked that they were hard boiled. For anyone who isn’t aware, the eggs in eggs benedict are supposed to be poached, meaning the inside will run out when you puncture the egg. Anyway, I sent my order back. Things were in order once I received my new plate of food; the eggs were nice and runny, and while the potatoes were still bland and dry, they were at least warm this time. While the food is decent and the employees are nice, I don’t think I’ll be back any time soon.

This is my first time ever dinning here. I always pass by this place whenever I’m at school, but I never got the chance to come and eat(also because I’ve heard mix reviews about the place). I came here for lunch with some friends at around 1pm and there was no crowd. This is a place where you first order, get a number, and then they bring you your food. They have this giant board of different variety of food, which I thought was similar to Crepevine. I ended up getting one of the scramble dishes. The food didn’t take too long to get to us, which was nice. The scramble included black beans, Apple sausages, veggies, and with a side of potatoes and an English muffin. The food was okay and I’ve definitely had better. I just thought it was okay and there’s not too much to say about it. It’s pretty average and a decent menu. One good thing about this place is the student discount. It’s not much, but it’s something! I don’t know if I’ll be back, but I’ll probably be trying out a dessert crêpe next time I’m here.

This place has a cute ambiance, a friendly staff, and quick table service. It’s a pay at the register kind of place, but they bring out your food and are very prompt with service. They are a little low on the savory crepes front… but their Nutella with strawberry was a huge hit for me! I wish they had a better selection of breakfast crepes. The place is nice to eat in because they have these huge open windows with a lovely view of the shopping. If it’s a brisk day, make the effort to sit further in the store. The doors prop open a bit and it can get chilly if the other patrons aren’t being considerate.

I really like this place. Went here for brunch and lunch before. They don’t just have an indoor seating but outside as well. I usually get the crepes which is what they’re known for. I’ve only tried the Alcatraz crêpe(soooo good) which has sautéed mushrooms, unions, shrimps, and a choice of potatoes, salad, or fruits.

Please, can someone explain to me why this place is so similar to Crepevine? FOOD — There are loads of options here, from savory and sweet crepes to sandwiches and soup. You can order meals or even a la carte! I had the Tetrazzini Crêpe(chicken, cheese, mushrooms, olives, pesto, etc ~$ 10) and it was pretty good. It comes with a side(mixed greens, potatoes, fries, or fruit) and the potatoes were alright… not much flavor. My friend had the Lover’s Crêpe(nutella and cinnamon ~$ 7) and it looked better than it tasted… lots of whipped cream. AMBIANCE — When I heard«Whispers Café» and knew that it was located in downtown, I thought it would be more of a homey feel like you get at La Vics or Boba Bar. That was not the case but it isn’t the café’s fault. Their space is more clean, spacious, and modern. For the price and the amount of food you get, it’s a steal. However, I didn’t leave dreaming about my next visit. Tip: 1. Only street parking here as the lot in front is a pay lot. However, I parked in the Market Safeway since I had to buy something after and they validate for 2 hours. 2. Wifi password: thankyou10 ;)
