In search a small amount of affordable mulch, I had a difficultly finding this company online after a friend told me about it. After calls to Oakland and not giving up, I connected on the phone and the gentleman was very helpful about mulch and measuring. I went down there right after the call and the gentleman directed me to what I needed. There was one other customer there on a Monday afternoon. One needs a shovel and containers, bags or bins or a pick-up. There is a minimum of .1cyd. I filled up my boxes with .2 cubic yard of mulch for $ 6.09, the staffer loaded it in my car, and I happily went on my way. The photos on the website are accurate for mulch. I will try other products from this place.

I see that the only other review is over a year old. Time to update… My wife and I stopped by the San Jose facility last Saturday. The man working in the yard outside the office provided exceptional customer service, but unfortunately, the office was closed. He said that if would be open again starting on Monday. I have phoned them twice during their business hours on two separate days, and left messages on their answering machine asking for a return call so that I could purchase some bark mulch. No return call. I sent an email this morning to their corporate headquarters in Oakland asking for a call — still nothing. I don’t know what’s going on with them, but at this point I will never attempt to do business with them again. The only reason I am giving them one star is because of the guy working outside who was excellent.

I searched the internet and asked people around who they used for compost and mulch. I kept see shoulder shrugs and hearing about manure. However, I don’t like to use manure and I’m new to the San Jose, CA area. I have always used plant based compost and mulch– ie: made from plants. I have always found it to be far superior with no issue of damaging roots like chicken manure. After a long search, I was referred to this business. I spoke to the person on the phone, he answered my questions, knew just as much as I did about composting with plant mulch and assisted me in figuring out how much I needed to purchase. You can pick it up in a truck, a car, a trash can, whatever you have, or you can have it delivered for $ 65. I picked up a station wagon full(using a tarp) and was charged a whopping $ 6.50– he estimated it was ¼ of a yard. They charge $ 30/yard for it. This stuff is the best plant compost I’ve used after using this material for years in other locations. Friendly service, knowledgable staff, in and out in less than 25 minutes. You just can’t beat it. They also sell mulch, top soil, blended topsoil, etc. And I’m going back when I need those.
