This place looks kinda awkward from the outside, but is very functional on the inside. I stopped in on the way to San Diego on 12/23/2015. I ordered a Soy Mocha, bagel with lox spread, and a peach tart of some sort for an afternoon delight. The gent that made my coffee and took order was largely disinterested in me as a customer… Which was odd because I was the only one in the place. This left me with low expectations, and the belief that a divey coffee dispenser was going to make my java. I was wrong. The mocha was great, the bagel was a little over-creamy but had a fairly good amount of chunky salmon and capers swimming in it. It was perfectly toasted and split two ways… Because they could tell I was on the road. I was very impressed! The back of this space appeared to be a full service bakery… Which was impressive. O think they make all their goodies in house. Peach tart was DANK.

Absolutely the best bagels in San Juan Capistrano. The family that owns and operates this small bagel shop couldn’t be any more friendly. Everything is always exactly how you want it and the prices are very reasonable. Added bonus: the serve Diedrich coffee and make some very good(and less expensive than Starbucks) espresso drinks!!! Come check these guys out!

Good bagels and cream cheeses. Questionable pricing which is not stated on the menue. Today I asked for a dozen bagels. He asked what kind and I said a variety was fine. Then on my receipt they charged an extra dollar for fancy bagels that I was not asked if I wanted to pay extra for. Almost $ 17 for a dozen bagels and two 8 Oz cream cheeses. Will not be back.

Very mediocre bagels and poor customer service. They wouldn’t honor an Entertainment book coupon.

I’m sorry but this place is disgusting. Maybe they were having a bad day but I’ll never be able to go back. Here’s the breakdown: I ordered a skinny mocha and an egg-white California Breakfast bagel on an everything bagel. –The bagel was swimming in a pool of grease that filled the bottom of the basket as I ate. –The eggs were soggy and spongey. –The mushrooms and peppers tasted nasty and bitter like they had been cooked in old grease. –The bagel itself had an odd aftertaste and was an odd gooey texture. So much so that I’m still trying to get the blobs out from between my teeth. I only made it halfway through the bagel before my stomach rolled over. I tried just eating the top half of the bagel, to soak up the grease in my stomach, but that’s when I realized how bad the bread was just by itself. It’s been 30+ minutes and I’m still feeling like I might be sick. It’s like the inside of my mouth is coated with the taste of old grease. The mocha was fine but I couldn’t even finish it without feeling sicker. I don’t care if this place is delicious 95% of the time, it’s not worth the digestive discomfort. If I don’t get sick soon I’m sure I’ll be regretting this meal more later!

I had a bagel at Avenue. it was OK, just a little dry and the cream cheese was a little runny, but it was decent. The coffee is just OK. The crowd of wierd people standing around the front of the restaurant is a little creepy. Apparently, they are waiting for painting jobs to come their way. In any, case, i did not like these people one bit, staring me down, checking me out, hoping I would offer them something.

This place is excellent. I was surprised at how great the quality of everything was and at such a low price. If I lived in the area I would come here regularly! Great service and great food! :)

This café is a great little gem in San Juan Capistrano. Everything is made on the premises. The breakfast egg bagels are delicious as well as their lunch sandwiches piled high with deli meat and very fresh veggies. And their lox, onion, tomato and cream cheese on a bagel is a real delight. Plus, the pastries are very good as well. Highlights are daily baked raisin rolls, 97% fat free bran muffin and croissants. They have a full service espresso bar and coffee. Both are very good. It’s a family run business and both brothers and staff take real pride in their business. My husband and I have been going twice a week for quite some time and every experience has been great. I highly recommend the place.

This is what a bagel store should be — great food, great service and a clean pleasant environment — you get all those here — and great friendly service too — if you’re in SJC, stop by and eat — it’s near the train station and oh, yes — they really know how to use the espresso machine. Ideal for breakfast and lunch — an amazing selection of bagels and pastries — I’ll be back!

Turkey Pesto Croissant! A nice little sandwich shop that takes the time to do it right. Either the sandwich was very good, or I was just really hungry, either way all was right in the world for about 9 minutes. Highly recommended.

I’m not a San Juan local, was driving from north OC to SD on a Sunday afternoon and stumbled upon this gem on the way down. I am so glad I did. Perfectly constructed bagel sandwich, great value and service, fresh ingredients, served quickly. Will definitely be coming back!

Finally, they have a Unilocal Account! I have been a regular here for years now, and while it was good before, since it changed hands it’s great! The new owners and employees are so friendly. I even persuaded some friends who had stopped going because of differences with the previous owners to try it again, and they were very pleased. The bagels and pastries are always fresh and delicious. I always get the Happy Turkey sandwich on a toasted sesame bagel with the pesto mayo, with a side of potato salad and a Snapple. It hits the spot every time. Definitely worth stopping by for lunch.

Service is fast, OJ is fresh, and bagels are not too thick/not too thin — just right. I always stop before heading out surfing. :)

Stopped here on our way too the San Diego Zoo today and boy am I glad we did. It is in a strip mall so you could easily miss it. Had the Happy Turkey on a sourdough bagel. It was very tasty. The dejon mustard had a strong kick to it too. It came with a bag of chips and a soda for about $ 9. I consider myself to be a sandwich conisseuer and I have to say this is a sandwich worth coming back for. Crystal had the Eye Opener Breakfast Bagel on a jalepeño bagel with ham, egg, and cheese. She thought it was okay but felt shes had better. The bagel was the best part of it though. We tried a blueberry scone and didn’t care for it at all. It was dry and rubbery. We also tried the almond poppyseed muffin which was very tasty. We walked out of the place with a bag of various muffins and bagels that we are looking forward to trying throughout the week. We will definitely come back here the next time we are through San Juan Capistrano.

This place is a pure gem in San Juan Cap. My whole family stopped by for breakfast this morning en route to Sea World. The bagels were soft and chewy, a perfect bun for my Sun Rise sandwich which includes egg, ham & bacon. I can attest that this was the best breakfast food in the area! My wife really was surprised by how good her latte was. My daughters also loved their Strawberry Fresh smoothies. The service was friendly and the ambience is nice for a small café. Lovely place & lovely food.
