Thought we would check this place out after seeing them on Unilocal. We purchased three different meats. The chorizo is their specialty. Had a customer recommend while we were there. Tried it with eggs and it was delicious. Very lean. The carne asada was cut to our liking. They were very helpful. That night we had great reviews from our guest whom we shared the carne asada. This is a great establishment to go to and it’s in our back yard. We will be back.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers! Your five-star reviews helped me find the ultimate Mexican Market. I will never shop anywhere else from now on for fresh tortillas, meat, fresh cheese, and all the supplies you need to make any Mexican dish your heart desires. The meat is so fresh and they cut everything specifically to order. You can even call ahead and let them know that you’re on your way and they will cut it and have it ready when you arrive.

I love this place. Wonderful service, and plenty of meat choices. A handful of produce options too: nopales, avos, limes, jalapenos… and some canned and packaged food.

Best chorizo in town! Family has been coming here for years! We’ve long moved out of Sanleandro but if we have time and want a good weekend breakfast we always go back! Highly recommend. :))

I had recently moved a block over from this butchery and wanted to buy meats local instead of hitting up Safeway. I looked around on Unilocal and saw all over the overwhelming love for D’Gonzalez and had to try it out. When I walked in it was narrow but the meat cases were the main focus. I greeted the man behind the counter, should have asked his name… where are my manners, and asked about their marinated flank steak since I read great thing about it. He offered to slice it fresh for me and season it but I decided to go with the regular flank steak this time. I also got pork chops and a whole chicken. We even got some free beef & pork chorizo to try! There was another customer there and he said that was all he buys and to try cooking it on the grill. For about 2 lbs of flank steak, 4 thin pork chops, and a whole chicken our total was about $ 26. I’m sold! I’ll buy all my meats here and I’ll have to get me some more of that chorizo!!! It was the best I’ve ever had!

As everybody says the chorizo is fantastic and more than reasonably priced. If your timing is good you can watch them stuffing it. I’ve had some minor communication issues since not everybody there speaks English fluently, but don’t worry, they’re nice, you’ll figure it out together eventually.

Was around the corner and wanted some meat for the grill… Unilocal brought me here. Amazing meat market the owner took me through all the different cuts and recommended based on how I was using. Fresh chorizo, marinated steak(sliced to order) and he also threw in some chicken chorizo for me to try(for tomorrows breakfast)! Reminded me of the local meat markets when I was a kid! Glad to see service like this is not a lost art. Definitely will be back.

Best Chorizo around hands down! My family has been buying here for the longest time. I’ve tried chorizo from different carnicerias, but once you try the chorizo here you just can’t help but be a critic. I’ve had people tried to impress me with chorizo from their«favorite» place to go and I’ve yet to meet anyone to convince me otherwise. We have barbques all the time and the first thing that is on the shopping list is Chorizo from D’Gonzalez. If I invite people over the first question is, are you making«that chorizo» we had last time. Everyone knows if its a barbque at our house that they are in for a good time and good food. But it always starts with D’Gonzalez! Gracias Don Rodolfo! Familia Guzman!

This is the only place I buy arrachera(flank steak), ask for it marinated and you will never go elsewhere. They will hand slice the meat and add their blend of marinade. Instead of hamburgers or hot dogs, you have got to try fajitas as an option — grill the arrachera, prepare some guacamole, salsa or grilled veggies, and enjoy on a tortilla. Or, just eat as is! I also love their chorizo and my husband will break down and get the chicharrón from time to time. They also have an assortment of other items you might need before heading home: tortillas, charcoal, peppers, cold drinks, ice cream, etc. The five stars also comes from keeping their business clean and tidy. It is never dirty and they sweep out front. It is so nice to see that they are proud of their business and care about the community.

I live literally right around the corner from these guys, so my family and I come here very frequently. The people here are super friendly and helpful and always have something nice to say when either of us come in. We’ve tried their chorizo and languanisa, all of which are very good, and they sell a ton of basic items you can pick up when you run out and need them last minute, like milk, bread, eggs, tortillas, salsa, and a pretty sizable variety of other things. They also have specialties like chicharones(or carnitas) on certain days, as well as tamales. You can place an order for however many you want and they’ll make them for you. Everything here is really cheap, which is nice because instead of having to drive all the way to a grocery store, I can walk across the street and pick up what I need for much cheaper. The family who owns this business are always working hard, keeping the store clean and tending to their customers. This carniceria may be tiny but it’s great and I will continue to patronize it. Definitely recommend.
