My wife and I engaged Jennie Gisslow from Design Source early last Spring to help us with the plans to achieve a 20 year dream of remodeling all 2 ½ baths in our San Leandro home. We had, and continue to have, a wonderful experience with her. Her creativity exceeded our expectations. She is thoughtful, thorough, and a joy to work with. She warned us that the design process might take longer than we anticipated, and she was right, but the extra time spent and careful review and alterations to her meticulously drawn plans was time well invested. She has guided us all the way through design, material selection, and provided wonderful, detailed packages to present to contractors as they were interviewed and selected. She has made herself available as questions arise, and continues to partner with us as we are ready to launch the construction phase. Jennie is top notch, and a graceful, patient and understanding partner. We highly recommend her for any design needs!

Had a wonderful experience working with Jennie. We did a complete bathroom gut. Her space planning skills were unbelievable. I always considered the bathroom to be small and there are 4 us of using the space on a daily basis. We separated the shower and tub which I am so happy with however didn’t really think was possible. She tucked the toilet in a spot I never would have considered and it is perfect. On a personal level, she is lovely to work with, and also very skilled and professional. She kept us on task and guided us through choices /​/​decisions. Would hire her again for any future projects.

Recently I found myself in the middle of an unplanned remodel of an older-​style duplex unit after a tenant’s unexpected marriage and exit. I didn’t know where to begin: what materials and design would offer the widest appeal and durability, but still be budget friendly. I discovered Jennie on Facebook, and after reading up on her here at Unilocal,decided to give her a try. Am I glad I did!
She was punctual, respected my goals, and helped me avoid what would have been costly and unnecessary mistakes. At the same time, she brought potential problem areas to my attention early (such as an odd sized oven and what to do about replacing it) so I wouldn’t be caught by surprise later.
She referred me to some great source stores for materials I would need, and suggested coordinating colors to achieve the look I was going for in the kitchen and throughout the house. She also had great referrals for contractors of various sorts to implement the work, but I went with my own guys.
My unit is starting to look so good I’d be happy to move into it myself! Thanks Jennie, for improving my property and the living experience of my next tenant — and for keeping it all affordable (which adds to *my* living experience!). You’re worth your weight in gold.

Jennie has helped us completely gut a family room and a bathroom over the last few years. I had my ideas for function that she helped me to realize by working them into the space perfectly.
