Mel’s basically justs sells alcohol, cigs, and snack food in this hole in the wall. friendly older asian gent is cashiering.
since there’s only 4 doorfuls of sodas and beers, there’s little preprized stickers (promos) from the distributors and the beer may be .25 higher individually and +$ 1 per six packs. there’s a large selection of 24 ounce beers and microbrew 6 packs. wines on the shelf also.

Great place to stop by for a snack (e.g. chips, candy, soda). Even though it’s a tiny place (you can literally reach the back wall in 5 – 6 strides), Mel’s always has something to fix my junk food hunger. It seems like the prices here are a little cheaper compared to nearby areas (beef jerky sticks can be had for $ 1.00, Oct. 2008). Also makes an excellent food spot for those heading to and from Manor Park. Cool guy, too — he was watching Jeopardy! when I went in to get something before the 8 P.M. closing time.
