We have visited Cody’s several times and have never been disappointed. The Valentine’s Dinner special was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere.

Valentine’s Dinner — preset menu. Someone put a lot of thought into this menu. What a dining experience. The Amouse-Bouche was a delight to the palette. Candied nuts with figs and cheese was a great way to get the taste buds salavating. Next was the salad of greens, raspberry jam, candied bacon and croissant croûton. To follow with a bit of a surprise with duck prosciutto on a toastette with garnish. Just when you tasted all these different flavors, a little shrimp appetizer. To clean the palette, raspberry sorbet with an amazing raspberry liquor. Main couse — beef tenderloin topped with fois gras, absolutely amazing! Did I mention the wine pairings? A great way to spend the evening with your loved one, both of you fully engulfed in the ambience of each other and the moment. Last but not least, cheese and chocolate — covered berries!

Been here a couple times each time hoping it would be better. One of the few places in SM that seems somewhat fancy. Unfortunately I didn’t really think the food was that good or creative. I can easily make Naan pizzas and sandwiches at home. On top of that, the several times we’ve been there the food wasnt that great. It was just so regular. Everything could be made at home with minimal effort. The other big problem is the wait. I assume they make everything to order, which is cool, but every time we’ve gone there it’s taken FOREVER. At least half an hour from order time until food coming out. It takes so long we eventually decided it just wasn’t worth the wait. The atmosphere is somewhat nice, and the service is fine, but I really just don’t think Cody’s is where it needs to be yet to be worth the time and money.

I am writing specifically about the tomato bisque I ordered. What I received was Ragu. The horror! I was tempted to ask for a side of pasta but refrained. I took one spoonful of thick, salty, not-creamy-or-delicious at all thick tomato sauce and could barely eat anything more! My husband had the french dip Sandwich whick looked similar to a breakout steak that you would find in a cheap philly sandwich, impossible to dip without losing the meat in the dip. Not good.

Great atmosphere and good food too! We’ve liked everything we’ve ordered. Drinks are made well too. Perfect for an adult night out or a girls night.

NY Strip tasted great! However, steak was relatively fatty for the price($ 33). Unexpectedly nice ambience for location.

In this city it is hard to find anywhere that isn’t overrun with college kids… sorry ya’ll aren’t horrible but it is nice to find an establishment that isn’t full of kids. The food here is excellent and the drinks are top notch! Great place to just go have a few drinks and snacks or have a romantic dinner with your significant other. I have never had anything but exceptional food and service here, I will continue to come back again and again.

Cody’s is another regular place we love to visit. It’s what we like to call, where the«grown ups» go. Sorry college kids, no disrespect meant. We really like the atmosphere here both inside and out back on the porch when it’s not hellfire hot. The full bar has a nice beer selection for hubs and real fruit(no mixes) cocktails. I like the sangria, mmmm yum! The menu here has offerings of steak, pork, or chicken or something on the special menu. Hubs often goes when I am traveling. Last weekend, he had the swordfish with asparagus orzo and said it was delicious. I like the hummus or jalapeño cream cheese spread with veggies, and their flatbreads with a salad.

Really enjoyed the cocktails, ambiance and lunch! I had the Greek salad with grilled chicken and it was beautifully presented and very tasty! A MUST stop if you’re at the outlet mall or I. The town for a Texas State Game!

Poor service. Waited over a half hour for two sandwiches and a salad. They forgot the egg on the Cobb salad and apologized as they brought the salad. Said we could wait 15 minutes and get one. Sandwiches had soggy bread and seemed like they had been sitting out for a while. They were out of the original menu item I ordered(turkey sandwich) for a reason they couldn’t explain. Waitress had no explanation for any mishaps. No comps on bill and no apologies from the manager. Really just annoyed that this place has such high ratings when it’s incredibly mediocre with horrible customer service. Don’t eat here. Food tastes okay, by the way, but wasn’t worth the price or service.

I came here after shopping at the tanger outlets. Food was great — the pear Gorgonzola vinaigrette was amazing if you get a salad. White sangria was also one of the best I’ve ever had. The décor inside is super cute — great for a date or a quick business lunch. Staff is also super nice and very good at their jobs. Perfect cute little restaurant — I can’t think of any complaints!

Cody’s Bistro & Lounge is an unexpected pleasure if you’re looking for a new place in San Marcos to hold an impromptu happy hour. It doesn’t seem like anything else in San Marcos, with black concrete floors and relatively dim lighting, but that’s a good thing in this case since it makes for a cozy setting. It’s quite a bit upscale, which, if you’re used to the«vomit comet» atmosphere for most downtown bars, is quite refreshing. And actually, it’s almost not in San Marcos, but that’s also a good thing, if you’re looking to escape the places in town that everyone else goes after work. Their happy hour menu currently consist of five mixed drinks for $ 5, along with $ 3 draft beer and $ 4 house wine. There’s a short list of reduced price happy hour appetizers on a special happy hour menu that I couldn’t find otherwise on their standard dinner menu. I tried the Cody’s Margarita, and found it to be better than average for a house margarita, if a little on the small side. The appetizers turned out much better than advertised. Don’t overlook the Devils on Horseback, which are bacon-wrapped prunes. That might not sound delicious, but, well, bacon conquers all. The plate of pretzel slices with fondue dip was also a big hit. Service was very attentive for our party of 5. Our hostess had absolutely no issue joining adjacent tables to seat our partial party before everyone arrived. Separate checks were also not a problem. Restrooms were spotless. The only negative I could find was that the concrete floors near the entrance were a bit slippery, so be extra careful when entering. This was definitely a 4.5 star experience. I’m really looking forward to another opportunity to give Cody’s a try for lunch or dinner.

Looking for something other than food court/fast food as your stomach growls from over-shopping at the outlet? Then check Cody’s out! My family came in for lunch and we were all pretty satisfied with out meal. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Naan Pizza which came with a side salad. Their house pear gorgonzola dressing was super yummy! The pizza was decent, but nothing particularly special. The naan crust was crispy, but that’s all I can say about it. The toppings themselves were alright but I guess the less amount of sauce was a bit too strange for me. While my meal was just okay, my family really liked their dishes and my mom was a huge fan of the chicken salad sandwich.

Nice atmosphere, good craft cocktails. Slow service. Wedge salad was tasty but a bit dry on dressing. Duck was nice, but the three peppers all had different spiciness, which was confusing. The Wellington was served medium(overcooked), the duxelles were boring, and the reduction sauce oversalted. The vegetables were OK, but nothing special. The ricotta black cherry cheesecake was a very nice ending, surprisingly light. For these prices and Unilocal reviews I expected a lot better, though. :(

Nick and Kyle made delicious drinks — Cody even made us a lovely dessert drink with gin grapefruit and rhubarb bitters — Lovely fish and salad — the crime brûlée and coffee were perfect

Skipped a few classes to go to San Marcos Outlets with a friend. We wanted to get a lot done so we left Austin around 10am? Got to San Marcos around 11 and was hungry for lunch. Unilocaled around here and there and got to Cody’s! The first thing I asked was if they’d let my dog join us for lunch. Although they don’t exactly have a pet friendly protocol, they were nice and welcomed all of us to sit out in the back balcony! yay thanks! We got the flat iron steak pita and spicy chicken nann pizza. I don’t remember the pita much but the fries were good! The pizza was good! The naan being the bread gave it an interesting twist. The sriracha definitely gave it a spicy kick. Tender pieces of chicken, sautéed mushroom, and cilantro all did well together. The side salad was fresh and yummy too! Definitely better than the fast food restaurants and food court near outlet.

We went here for our anniversary after finding that they had beef wellington, which is something my husband has been really wanting to try. It was served with roasted brussel sprouts, which is his favorite veggie, so he was very happy. I had the duck, which was something new for me as well. I was able to get the bacon wrapped asparagus with a cauliflower purée as the side. We both enjoyed our meals immensely. The staff was really friendly and and helpful. For dessert my husband chose the black cherry ricotta cheesecake and I had the salted caramel brownie ala mode with candied bacon. They were both delicious. The cheesecake had a nice richness to it but without being too sweet. The candied bacon added enough of a hint of smokey saltiness to counter the rich sweetness of the brownie and ice cream and really just elevated it to another level. We really enjoyed our dinner and have added it to our list of ‘Special Occasion’ restaurants, at least for dinner. We are definitely interested in coming back to try out their lunch selections sometime.
