The coffee here is *okay*. The other coffee shops in town(Mochas and Javas, Wake the Dead) have stronger, smoother coffee and more friendly service. ALSO: they have a sign in here that reads: «Join the army: travel to exotic places, meet different people, and kill them» I guess it’s supposed to be funny but I found it extremely disrespectful. For a business that likely has military members(TX State is the #4 military-friendly college in the nation) come in looking to buy coffee, I can’t believe they would put something that short-sighted and distasteful on the wall. Especially since army members give their lives so that these owners have the freedom to decorate with a sign that pokes fun at their sacrifice. I’d much rather spend my money at a business that tries to be a little bit professional and considerate.

Miss the place ever since I graduated, I really love their Chai Charger on a cold day. Affordable too, than a certain coffee chain, and in fact, I never had a bad time in there. $ 4.50 for a medium mocha compared to $ 5-$ 6 without tax in the other places. I also love their Snickers, it tastes just like the candy car itself! The baristas working there are cooler than the iced toddies they serve, and the décor has this positive hipster look for it.

Got a medium roast coffee and a black bean, sweet potatoe, and queso fresco breakfast taco. Little pricey but the breakfast taco was very good. Service was what I expected in a local coffee shop, friendly and attentive

What is not to love about Jo on the Go??? Delicious signature drinks and the service never disappoints! Chatting with a friendly barista while I wait for my coffee before heading to work/class really brightens my day. I love the moon mocha; On healthier days I order the toddy– which is the best in town!

I don’t normally write reviews but I had such a poor experience yesterday at Joe’s that I thought I should spread the word. I go in there for breakfast tacos(which are usually pretty good) and for coffee(which is usually over flavored and rarely very warm). I went in yesterday, ordered a fairly simple breakfast taco and waited a solid 30 minutes for it. As I waited, I watched an employee order her taco and get it before me. I felt that was pretty unprofessional and probably not a good business model. I wouldn’t even complain now but since about an hour after eating the taco I have been having horrific stomach cramps and overall digestive issues. Joe’s is the only source I can trace it back to. So just beware future customers, I however, will not ever go back.

This place is AMAZING. My friend introduced it to me last weekend in hopes to wake us up before a long day of arts and crafts. Their Gluten-Free carrot cupcake is delicious, and I could drink a soy Happy Irishman everyday! I love the environment and the fact they feature a new local artists work every month. And the staff is always very friendly!

YUMMY! Not only do they have strong, delicious, no too sweet coffee, they have awesome unique drinks(as well as your regular kinds)! The barista is very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Next time I’m in town I will definitely go back– so many drinks I want to try!

Co-workers and I are addicted to the«shyster» coffee. Friendly staff, although the girl with the intricate tattoos makes the best coffee. I have never stopped and relaxed, but there are comfortable looking chairs and decent music on every time we walk in. Staff is extremely friendly and the female with the intricate tattoos makes the best coffee. I’ll be a repeat customer until I am no longer working in San Marcos.

I guess I’m a picky coffee drinker… However, that’s life. This place was«okay» and thus the average 3 star rating. I really don’t have anything to rave about in all honesty. I think the main reason why people are giving this 5 stars is because– 1. They know the workers 2. They’ve never had exquisite french press 3. They like the…“eclectic-ness” –The barista that made my drink was a very friendly super nice dreaded hair don’t care to shave my arm pits and wear tank tops to work kind if girl. – The coffee was nothing special tbh They do sell my favorite kombucha tho…

Best coffee place in town. The owner, Liz, is wonderful and friendly as is the entire staff. I love being able to go and just relax for a while and have a good conversation. Not to mention to coffee is amazing. They have a lot of great specialty drinks but their basics(toddy, americano, red eye etc) are also killer. Jo just can’t be beat.

Hands down the best coffee, best people, and best place to relax. Enough said. Personal favorite: hazelnut breve. Gets busy in the morning during the school year, but it’s not a bad wait and it’s totally worth it. One time the card machine went down and they took IOUs from customers instead of turning them away. The owners are hands down some if the best people I’ve ever met. Liz is a special kind of person and she’ll remember you.

The owners are incredibly friendly and wonderful to talk to, as well as their employees. Great atmosphere, and I love that they display local artwork(I’ve even purchased a few). Their coffee is fantastic and I’m addicted to their iced toddys!

Sweet little local spot with iced toddy. Only complaint is those styrofoam cups! Bad for environment and potentially dangerous with hot drinks(cancer?)

Delicious iced toddies! The shop is small but the atmosphere is relaxing. Liz(the owner) and the rest of her staff are always extremely friendly and easy to talk to. The shop always has interesting art from local artists on the wall as well. Oh, and the shop is extremely close to campus!

I frequent here every day. Liz and Leah are amazing along with the rest of the staff. I’ve lost track of how many golden conversations I’ve had at Jo. The baristas are smart and sexy and work so hard so I do my best to tip them as much as I can. The décor is classic with work from local artists as well as sultry and inappropriate bumper stickers that will most likely apply to your sick life if you’re like me and spend your days lingering around coffee shops with books under your arms. It’s a great place to relax, study, and chat with a few familiar faces from time to time. I’ve even come to appreciate some of the more emotionally disturbed regulars that stop by. The drinks are also delicious. I recommend anything iced. The prices are reasonable, but because I go practically everyday I don’t even want to think about how much money I’ve spent at this place.

Jo On The Go… Easy access to the Texas State Campus! When I was a student(c/o 2010), I would go during any breaks between classes to study or recharge. I recently moved to the Kyle/Buda area which means I’m again closer to San Marcos, & I have found myself going back there from time to time. The owner is there most mornings & is really cool to talk to. Her business was one of the first local coffeehouses to open in San Marcos & is still standing after others have went away. Their espresso is good(Katz coffee) & they do sell their beans by the pound or half-pound. Local artwork is displayed on their walls & they have funny bumper stickers all over the counter area, ranging from political satire to the just plain weird! It might be difficult to spot their location(the coffeehouse is nestled in a shopping plaza) but their bright pink van out front let’s you know that you’re close by! To sum it up, Jo on the Go is a great place to grab coffee, breakfast, & good conversation.

First thing you need to know about me is that I’ll be the very first to tell that $tar$uck$ place exactly where to shove their overpriced ventis! So I’m not a coffee addict by any means, and probably not a coffee aficionado. Maybe I’m just a coffee heathen at heart. Give me my two cups of Folgers with some Coffeemate French Vanilla in the AM to jump start me and I’ll declare I’m good for the day. And that’s probably where my doctor would prefer I stop. But, today, I was in the company of a true coffee aficionado, who didn’t particularly care for the Texenza coffee he’d grabbed on the way to campus this morning. He asked about Jo’s, so we made a side trip on the way back from lunch. We were met at the counter by Liz who is the hard-working owner. She was good-natured, but ribbed my associate for asking for a venti. She asked each of us to try our coffee-drinks before we paid for them to make sure we were satisfied with them. So not the attitude of your typical barista. I had a Large(20 ounce) Nutty Irishman,(espresso, hazelnut and Irish cream). I felt a conversion coming on. I liked that our barista told us why we liked her coffee better than $tar$uck$ — it’s because she uses more coffee and less BS, I mean milk. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on perspective, I had plenty of energy during the afternoon. At one point, I should have been scraped from the ceiling. By the way, Jo’s uses only fair trade coffee from Texas Coffee Traders. All I know is I liked what I drank. This may not be enough to have me stopping at Jo’s every day, but it will certainly be a destination to resist on a daily basis. Not for the sake of the money, but for the sanity of my co-workers!
