Friends and I came here for our Downtown Pizza Chow Down to check out all the downtown pizza places in San Mateo. This was our VERY first stop. It’s closed. :(

The place is closed!!! Like out of business. Their online ordering is active as is their Unilocal site. WTH?

We waited 45 minutes for food that was never made and were late for our next engagement. After checking on it, I went back 10 minutes later to find that nothing had been made. They continued say they were sorry and that they were busy… I would not eat here again.

We had a minestrone soup an fly a Chinese chicken salad. The vegetables were fresh the dressing was great and soup was really good. Great value for money :) They should get a higher score..

I grossly underestimated how hard it would be to find meat-free eats in downtown San Mateo post-9:30pm. This is what led us here. I think it was our 5th try at a restaurant that evening and we’d actually considered eating here about 40 minutes earlier based on proximity to where we were standing and the basic look of the sign, but then we walked by and saw the table-top TVs and an almost empty dining room less the few families with parents just trying to feed themselves while their kids stayed glued to said table-tops TVS and decided this was not the place for us. We were obviously singing a different tune not too long after that when we came crawling back and ended up ordering a large veggie pizza to split between the three of us. The pizza was not great, but it was food and it got the job done. The brick oven they have is pretty cool, but that brick oven pizza flavor that you’re expecting definitely doesn’t come through in the pizza. The dough was thin-ish, but could still be considered about 30% on it’s way to being thick. The staff here were really nice, so that was a wonderful thing having basically been shot down when going for food at the handful of other places we’d tried to patronize first. A combination of this not being my idea of very good pizza and the terrible top-40 faux rap music soundtrack to the dining room will likely keep me from coming back but if you’re a parent and your screaming kid wants pizza, this is perfectly adequate place to shut them up with food and TV.

No, sorry. This is not what I call good pizza. Mediocre quality with mediocre service. I won’t be coming back.

Family of 5 on a weeknight around 6pm: — Asked for half cheese and half pepperoni and instead got mostly pepperoni. The amount of pepperoni compared to other pizzerias in the area was weak. — Server was slooooow to take our order. We were patient. They seemed to have a ton of delivery orders that they were prioritizing. Finally got around to taking our order and midway through he had to take a break to deal with another delivery order. Finally got back to finishing taking our order which was one extra large pizza and five drinks, and it was around $ 50. Maybe we are used to faster service but our pizza was not quick to come out of the oven. Tasted OK, nothing special. There are better pizza joints in San Mateo and I am surprised this one is surviving, despite our best intentions to want to like this place. They are understaffed and the food is only so-so. We will not eat here again.

We really wanted to like this pizza place. We’re huge fans of pizza and were excited to find something great and close to home. We’ve ordered from this place twice and both times, the pizzas were SOWEAK. The toppings are meager and the pizza slices are limp and floppy. The ONLY redeeming quality of the pizza is the crust. It tastes pretty good. We ordered a large Greek Salad and while it tasted good, it was super small for the price and we felt a bit ripped off. The buffalo wings were average. Good buffalo sauce but the chicken was fatty and kind of squishy. The staff is nice but not nice enough to make up for the lack of quality in the food. Unfortunately, this isn’t the pizza place for us. We won’t be returning.

This so called«restaurant» is a 2 person amateur outfit with no clue how to run it! We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs(how simple do we have to make this?!) and after about 40 minutes it showed up but no sign of my crab sandwich! Another 30 minutes and finally something emerged from the kitchen… a toasted something… unable to find any crab just the veggies. The only redeeming feature was the Stella Artois tasted great!

We came here for the first time and were hoping to order pizza by the slice but were informed that they didn’t have pizza by the slice, even though that’s what is advertised on their window. So, we ordered mozzarella sticks and chicken wings to satisfy our appetite. We waited almost 30 min. for our food, the mozzarella sticks were undercooked and the wings barely had any buffalo sauce on them. Oh yeah, and my boyfriend threw it all up the morning after…

Walked in to this place while strolling DTSM with my family. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza and garlic fries. The kids loved the pizza! I also loved the thin crust. Now the garlic fries were terrible! Not enough garlic and it still tasted as if the potato wasn’t cooked all the way. My kids totally loved the Tv’s at each table. They actually sat down and finished their food. Service was ok. I won’t mind coming back just won’t order the garlic fries!

Disgusting slice of pepperoni and mushroom pizza for $ 4 each. The dough was not cooked all the way, the cheese was tooo hot but the mushroom on top was cold. I saw the guy take our slices out from UNDER the counter of toppings. Who does that? Never again. I’m so angry with myself from not Unilocaling first.

A guest wanted to order from this pizza place. Tried to call and the number doesn’t work. Couldn’t find any other number anywhere. We went to the website and he decided to order online. We ordered and selected to pay cash and it said the order would arrive in 45 – 60 min. The next day the guest told me they waited 2 hours and it never came. So they told the front desk to tell the pizza guy to forget it. No idea if it ever came or not. Learned the hard way why we don’t recommend this pizza place. Going to throw away all the menus so this doesn’t happen again

Flat screen TVs on every table but none of the three idling staff can be bothered to clean the disgusting bathroom or bus the tables??? A fancy brick oven but subpar, diarrhea-inducing ingredients with nothing creative on the menu??? This place is a disgrace to our community: poor product, poor service, and hygiene standards that should have the Public Health Department knocking on their door.

UGH. What a waste of $ While strolling DTSM I got a craving for some pasta and Red Brick happened to be the closest, TOGO type of place I was looking for. I walk in, choose a pasta dish and tell the cashier my order, she replies with an attitude ‘WHA U SAY?” I repeat my order and she still didn’t know WTF I was trying to order. I go back to the menu to make sure I’m saying the right name and she still can’t get it. Back and forth a few times… I’m wondering if maybe I’m speaking a foreign language. She starts to cop an attitude with me because SHE doesn’t know her own damn menu. I give her attitude back but 50 times worse and immediately regret it since I realize she will be handling my food =\. Meanwhile her coworker was listening in so, he intervened and rang up my order with no problem. After I place my order I see the girl who failed to help me use her bare hands(without washing) put my garlic bread in the oven. At this point I’m wishing I could just cancel my order because the people working there look like if you piss them off they will spit in your food, and I’ve already managed to piss off the chiquita at the register. While I wait for the food(that I’m not going to eat) I hear the girl who helped me talking smack about other phone-in orders and how the customers try to get them in trouble but«she ain’t gonna take that shiiiii». I get my order and get the hell out of there. In my head I’m convinced my food was tampered with(lol) so I didn’t even bother eating it. What a waste of $ 14.99. The service is horrible, the tables are grimey, the food I cannot comment on since I did not and will not eat here. Buenos Dias.

Went before a movie for a quick bite pizza and ordered the lunch special pepperoni pizza. Yack, yack, yack… greasy, tasteless and on top of that they left us to wait a long time before i finally went to them and ask why is taking so long. When finally we got it on the table(was a share) we had no silver/plastic utensils or plates to share, no napkins, no nothing… we had to ask or help ourselves for everything. I think i better have my regular Little Caesar pepperoni pizza whenever i‘m craving for pizza(which is every month or so). Thanks,

Walked in after a movie with my husband. Wasn’t expecting much because we just wanted a quick bite. But we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of pizza(we ordered a simple Hawaiian). The crust has just the right amount of thickness. And it’s not too soft such that the slice flops when you lift it; not too hard that you’d lose a tooth while biting. The toppings are fresh and juicy too. It was so good that we finished the pizza, even though we weren’t that hungry to begin with. The guys over the counter are friendly and helpful. We didn’t need a gluten free pizza so he suggested a regular one which is slightly cheaper. We will be back to this joint for pizza cravings.

I don’t write reviews often, but I had the misfortune of eating here and I have regretted it for the past 4 hours. It smelled funny as I was eating it, doughy consistency and terrible flavor. I’m physically ill sitting here now, regretting the fact that I had a slice of their pizza. I’m debating whether or not I should throw up.

Needed to get a quick bite to eat before our movie, we decided to duck in here. The place was empty, we ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and let the worker know we were in a rush. To his credit they made our pizza very quickly. It was fast, like if you were to make a frozen pizza at home. Unfortunately, while they don’t take their pizzas out of the freezer, it does taste remarkably like frozen pizza. Thin crust pizza with bland chicken and store bought sauce on top. I love all pizza, frozen and other wise, but you may not. Which brings us to the price, while this may taste like your average supermarket frozen pizza, it certainly isn’t priced like it. I love pizza, but with so many options in the downtown area, I will definitely pass on Brick oven pizza.

Good and fast thin crust pizza. If you are in a hurry this is a good stop. Nice to have TVs although one was not working. Chopped salad was good as well. Friendly service.
