I’m so sad the restaurant closed. Best thai food ever. I tried others but their sauces are watery. I will miss the food at chao praya so much. :-(

Cute little place conveniently located across the street from the Belmont Planet Granite, so a group of friends and I had dinner there before climbing. The food is decent Thai, if not mind-blowing, and the owner(or I assume he was the owner) is a bit of a character :) I was initially hesitant to ask, but the owner/waiter was really friendly with our table, and they are willing to substitute things in otherwise non-vegetarian dishes in order to make it vegetarian, which was really nice. They do have vegetarian dishes, I was just really in the mood for noodles, and they were happy to make the rad na noodles with tofu and mushrooms for me(and not use any fish sauce or egg). Their Thai iced coffee seems inconsistent, as the one I ordered probably had a lot more condensed milk in it than the one my friend ordered, but I definitely enjoyed mine, so I’m likely to get it again next time. Oh, also, there is a tiny lot behind the actual restaurant! In case you didn’t know! I had no idea, so I ended up parking on a street a block over, but there actually is a little lot. Overall, good place, and I intend to go back again to try their other vegetarian dishes sometime :) This place is A-OK!

Fresh coconuts(for drinking the coconut water) = awesome. Not enough fresh coconuts to go around for a party of ~20(team lunch at work) = not so awesome. Asks for water with no ice(apparently on multiple occasions for some people now) … gets water with ice. Ask for a dish made spicy … gets a dish that’s less spicy than other«mild» dish. So, it seems like to get what you want, you have to use some reverse psychology and ask for the opposite of what you actually want… Seriously, though, the food is pretty good(I had a pad kee mao), and a lot of my above complaints seem to stem from their not really knowing what to do with such a large group.

If you NEED Thai food it gets the job done, but nothing I ordered(which was A LOT) was a stand out. In fact, 3 different dishes that I’d ordered all tasted pretty much the same, which I’m pretty sure shouldn’t be the case. The shrimp wrappers were just ok. They didn’t make my 2nd order of pad see ew. I think it’s kind of a cop out that the basil dishes don’t come with rice when they’re price the same or higher than at other places where they do come with rice. The single order of pad see ew was majorly lacking in noodles and the few noodles that were in there were pretty sad looking. The Thai Icd Tea was good, plus they packaged them really cute. Finding this place is easy, but finding their entrance is a bit tricky and definitely not intuitive. The staff were really friendly but with my not being Thai, I think some of my order was lost in translation and the call had to have taken like 15 minutes to order 3 entrees, and appetizer, and Thai iced tea… and there was still a dish missing. I did really like spice level of all the dishes and that certain bites were ‘kickier’ than others. It was a pleasant surprise for a heat seeker like myself. The inside was cozy and cute and If I lived closer to here I might come by more often out of convenience, but overall I wasn’t super impressed with any of our dishes, unfortunately.

A cute little Thai place right next to my gym(possibly counter productive for me…). The place always seems to be pretty empty at night, but they’ve been around for a bit, so they must be doing fine. The beef and chicken satay are awesome — hearty little chunks of meat, and the peanut dipping sauce is delicious, just difficult to apply to the meat sometimes. The chicken tom yum soup is fantastic, too — perfect on a cold night, has a great tang to it, and, while not overly filling, warms you up nicely. The pad see ew isn’t the most amazing that I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty solid, albeit a little lacking in meat if you order it as an add-on. Overall, a nice, quiet little place with solid food and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend for take-out!
