I love supporting local independent companies, so was glad to find this bakery on 25^th Avenue in San Mateo. I was cooking a birthday dinner for my mom and was looking for a cake. I asked Lisa if she bakes any sugar free items as mom has diabetes. She said ‘yes’, using a whip cream (instead of frosting) and she uses a sugar substitute. We choose a Lemon curd cake with the whip cream topping. (She noted that the cake is not 100% sugar free.) It was a big hit at mom’s birthday dinner. The cake was light, moist, and not too sweet. The price was a bit on the high side, but I figured it was well worth it considering the quality and taste. Extra bonus points because I only gave Lisa 24 hours notice, but she rose to the occasion.

I’ve picked up cupcakes and a tart on two separate occasions at the last minute. Lisa is a pleasure to work with as she is very helpful, attentive and friendly. She made me feel like I was at home. The price is a little high, but by all means no higher than most places. I was referred to her by a friend who orders the coffee crunch cake that is AMAZING!

The owner (Lisa) is very friendly and attentive. We ordered a birthday cake and it was great value for the price. We brought our own train models for the birthday cake and she took care to sanitize them. Highly recommended, we would order from them again.

I was just here today for the reopening — I have so missed this place! The cupcakes, pastries, cakes, cookies, and pies are seriously to die for. The ambiance is welcoming, Lisa, the owner is delightful she greets you with a smile and makes you fee like family … I give it 5 stars because it’s the highest I can give on Unilocal but honestly this Bakery well deserves 10! So worth traveling to San Mateo for actually I would travel even further for these delights!’

Try the coffee crunch cake! It is my favorite. You won’t go wrong with that choice. The place is cozy and comfortable. Service was great!

I wanted two cupcakes with custom wording on top. I called Lisa and ask which cupcakes were in stock as I was in a hurry. Lisa was very accommodating, and got my order ready right away (within 20 minutes!).
When I explained what I wanted them for (I initially had only a rough idea of the cupcake design), she told straight away that it could be done. She had some suggestions as well, which turned out to be excellent and fit what I needed.

Talk about yum yum desserts handmade with a taste of home. I have eaten cookies, milkshakes, cupcakes and cakes before from this place and they are super freaking good the owner is really great and down to earth to chat it up with. A couple of my close friends had birthday cakes made by this place and so rich, elegant, yet light and fulfilling. If you are looking for quality, tasteful and custom orders that will make your water like Homer Simpson then this is indeed the place to go too

Meh. I’ve experienced better. The place is OK. I have better cupcake. I would complain about the price though. it’s expensive. Also I felt like the cupcake was little «dry» and old. wasn’t as fresh from other bakery.

I was planning my son’s first birthday party with a Daniel Tiger theme. We went in for a consultation and gave Lisa our ideas for a cake. She worked really well with us and the price was very reasonable. The day we went to pick it up my husband and I were really happy. It matched our theme perfectly and it tasted really good! We even ordered a smash cake for him to eat. He was really careful with his cake and loved it! Thank you so much Lisa for helping us with our son, Brandon’s very special first birthday!

Ordered a 10″ Elsa cake a day before my daughter’s birthday. It was quite last minute and their orders were already quite full for the next day. While they didn’t have time to prepare for the exact ingredients I originally wanted, but the final design and cake was no less beautiful and delicious. It was one of the highlights of the party! Thank you!

I ordered cupcakes from here for my daughter’s birthday. They worked with me over the phone to create beautiful designs.
My complaint is the price. Each cupcake was over $ 3 each, and I didn’t feel the cake quality justified that expense. The cake was pretty dry.
My other minor complaint was the buttercream frosting: it was the butteriest buttercream I have ever tasted. It tasted OK — who doesn’t love butter??? — but it seemed like the butter/​sugar ratio was way off.
Anyway, not terrible overall, but pretty expensive for cupcakes that weren’t really more professional than anything I could make at home, which is what I would expect from a bakery specializing in this type of thing.

We needed 2 cakes for a birthday party the next day and Lisa worked with us to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. The cakes were beautiful and we were able to get them in a very short time frame.
Overall I was very impressed by the owners’s friendly service, professionalism, and willingness to accommodate what we needed.

I had talked with the owner getting a cake made for the following week. Afterall her photos and work are quite nice, not to mention the great reviews. She was really nice — we had discussed the design and the owner committed to doing the cake if I just called back the next day to finalize. I tried calling her 3 – 4 times and left her several voicemails indicating that I wanted to finalize the cake but she never called back. At least I had the decency to call her back and leave a message letting her know that I was ordering from someplace else! I almost ended up without a cake by depending on her!

Lisa was wonderful. It was my friend’s birthday and at the last minute I offered to help her husband with the cake. I went with mini cupcakes. Chocolate with chocolate, vanilla with vanilla and lemon cake with vanilla. Lisa handled my last minute request with ease and the cupcakes were delicious. The vanilla on vanilla was the crowd favorite but they were all devoured. My daughter especially liked the signed Chef Duff jacket displayed on the wall.

I discovered this little shop on a walk down 25^th Avenue. The best cupcakes I have tasted in the Bay Area. Lisa is charming, and there is even a little table to enjoy tea and pastries.

I just happen to work down the street from Lisa and decided to stop by on a whim and ask her if she can create a baseball hat cake for a dear friend. She was totally up for the project and thought it was a really cool idea. The cake was ready on time held up for the whole evening and had all the guests talking. The cake was the biggest hit. I’d def go back to her for some more creative cake ideas that I have in mind. Thank you Lisa.

Delights by Lisa is a real find! I just had them cater the desserts for my daughter’s baby shower and everything was super delicious! We had an assortment of shortbread cookies, little cakes, lemon tartlets, chocolate covered strawberries and oh God, was it good! Everyone loved the desserts!
Lisa took plenty of time with me to design the dessert menu. My daughter is a fantastic baker and in the food biz so it needed to be extra special. It definitely was!
Lisa is a lovely person and is just getting started at the location on 25^th Ave. It is in a place that used to be an awful tea room restaurant and now it’s her bakery. The shop is set in a bit off 25^th Avenue in a little courtyard but it is NOT hard to find.

My wife and I were looking for a treat in San Mateo Sunday afternoon and found Delights by Lisa Bakery. (They don’t front 25^th — they’re in a courtyard in the back.)
We were expecting a display filled with cupcakes and treats. We found a display with only 9 cupcakes (cupcakes, not flavors) and a handful of eclairs. We bought some of each; the cupcakes (we tried chocolate, coconut, and orange sherbet flavors) were very ordinary. The éclair was better than the cupcakes, with a nice pastry texture, but was pretty forgettable. The cupcakes differed only by frosting; the bodies were the same «yellow birthday cake» sort of cake, were dry, and were all the same neutral flavor. And the frosting was too much, especially on the coconut — it was like eating butter and I couldn’t bring myself to finish it.
Maybe they’re better for custom baked goods? I don’t expect to return here as a walk-​in for an afternoon treat, though.

For beautiful, delicious cupcakes, this is your place. The family that runs it are all very nice, it’s tucked away in a cute little corner, and it’s really pleasant. If you call ahead, they’ll do custom work — or you can walk in and get what you get. But let me tell you, what you get is super!

Cupcakes are delish! Great ambiance and location Has a very homey/​warm welcoming feeling. Located in the courtyard patio complex #6. Very great surrounding stores. Parking is easy to find but it depending on the day and time.
Sells baked good but also has coffee, tea, water, juice, and hot cocoa. Baker/​Owner is very hospitable and very nice to talk to.

She make our products from scratch using natural and fine ingredients. She started baking at the age of 15 and when She was 16 started working at Mrs. Fields Cookies at Pier 39 making the cookie dough and baking from scratch. Also, went on to study Electronic Engineering and received a degree. Years later she still had a passion for baking; graduated (Suma Cum Laude 4.0) from California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu. While working in a well known baker. She is also a Cake Decorating Instructor, Serve Safe Certified with the National Restaurant Association and speak fluent Spanish.
