The food and service was great even though it looked like there was a huge party in the next room. Would recommend.

This restaurant is not up to par from what I remember years ago. In fact, the only thing that remains the same is the cheesy garlic bread. The table service was poor; our waitress seemed very timid, no suggestions, iced tea glasses were continually empty. Crab appetizer was fishy, fish and chips combo was over cooked, skewered scallops were undercooked.

It was planned weeks ahead and reserved a week with the restaurant and verified by the restaurant. But when we arrived they told us that we did not have reservations and never had confirmation. It was kind of odd that a party of ten just so happen to have been seated before we arrived. What a joke of a place. Never going to this place.

I’ve been here four or five times. I’m usually in the area on business and this is a nice place to get some decent food.

Another stellar couple of meals later; I’ve grown to enjoy chatting with Vino! He’s one cool ass server. He even feeds my wife(lol)? off his own plate when he’s on break to show us his cool creations haha. Love this spot! Cheers. –The guy in sweats and a hat.

It was cool. Not very impressed with the clam bake, it was bland. The cheesy crab bread was delightful, and the lobster was nice. The cocktails were good as well. It’s somewhere to go, but doubt if I crave anything other than the chessy crab bread. I would go back and try other things though.

Came here for a work lunch. The service was so slow that it is apparently not catered for working people. The lunch took us two hours(and almost 20 min just for coffee). The food was good though, we had the calamari and tune poke for appetizer, and swordfish sandwich as entrée. We all ordered simple sandwiches but they came out at different times 15 min apart, so it was kind of awkward since some people got food and some didn’t. Overall it was ok, but don’t come here unless you have at least 2 hours to kill.

It was my first time eating upstairs. I was able to book a table for 5 people with no hassle. Our waiter was quite funny, and super friendly. Good appetizers. I loved the ahi tuna. I ordered the sea scallops and it was delicious. Great for a big party. Will totally come back again!

We came here for a birthday dinner the other weekend, and it was everyone’s first time at the upper level, so it was an interesting experience. LOCATION. For anyone confused, Top of the Market is just the top level of the Fish Market(but classier, as in things are more expensive, and there are white tablecloths on all the tables). I think it was their attempt to add a fine-dining option to their already popular seafood place. It’s actually not badly done, just doesn’t flow too well. Our biggest regret was not requesting a window seat when we made the reservation, though! HAMACHICRUDO. A light, fresh start to our meal, and easily shared between 5 people. The slices of hamachi were generous, although there wasn’t much grapefruit for my taste. SMOKEDTROUTDEVILEDEGGS. Probably one of the heartiest deviled eggs I’ve ever had, as the filling included chunks of smoked trout. It was interesting, to say the least, and worth trying. WHOLELEAFCAESAR. This is a much bigger salad than I realized(the ‘whole leaf’ part didn’t translate). It’s a little skimpy on the anchovies(3 total), and the croutons, but it’s a light dish, and easily shared as well. GRILLEDMEDITERRANEANOCTOPUSSALAD. This was probably my favorite dish, but only part of it did I really like. The salad was pretty bland, but the grilled octopus was fantastic — very soft and tender(much unlike your average octopus dish). CHOCOLATESEDUCTION. A very intense little flourless chocolate cake, oddly served with an oatmeal crust. The slice we received was very small, but the cake was so rich that it ended up being the perfect size. I highly recommend this. I was mostly bummed out because we had made it clear this was a birthday dinner, but it looks like they don’t actually do anything for birthdays, which I found a little odd. It was a nice enough dinner in general, though, although the price points were a little higher than I liked for the type of place it was.

Close location to our hotel. Nice lagoon views from our downstairs table. Very crowded on a Friday night. With reservations, only a 5 min. wait. Steamer clams… extra nice… too salty though Both kinds of bread were very good. I liked that they had Simi Chardonnay on the wine menu! Old fashioned WEDGE salad… just right. Dungeness crab cocktail… yum Extra good service… thank you! The only confusing part is the seafood market is downstairs and so are many eating tables. There is also seating upstairs? Different menu? Didn’t know there was a difference.

Delicious food and great service. My friend and I shared deviled eggs, the crab salad, and scallops. All were super yummy and I would get them all again. Good portion sizes too. Top of the Mark has a wonderful ambience with beautiful views over the water. Great place to catch up with a friend or go for a romantic dinner. I will be coming back soon!

Typical chain-style restaurant. There’s a wide selection of food, though the quality is variable. The drink menu is pretty good — reasonably priced and fair selection of wines, and the mixed drinks are strong but tasty. However, the ambience is, how to say, barn-like. We sat downstairs — brightly lit, lots of tables, kinda loud. Décor is Bay-Area-casual — just right for the place. We had gotten drinks at the bar before being sat — bar service is fast and friendly! Our server came right over, and we had ALLTHEOYSTERS to start. The Kumamotos and the Fanny Bays were great — the others, not so much. Oysters were fresh — some other reviews have said not; maybe they just came on a bad day. These were fresh, for sure! For mains he had smoked fish sampler — not something you can get at a lot of places in the Bay Area, and he said it was really good. I had the cioppino, which was just ok. Sauce could have been a bit thicker, and there was only 1 scallop, 2 mussels and 1 shrimp — rest was fish. Also the garlic bread was meh. I would say wait to go here until it warms up — then you can sit outside on the back deck and overlook the water(nice views!) and order the most basic seafood thing(grilled or blackened fish or steamed lobster or something). Forget about sauces. Go for the freshness! Server was efficient. Overall, this is a great casual place if you want your protein fix. Not so much a date or ‘special occasion’ spot.

Okay, so I take my GF, bro, and sis out for what I thought was going to be a special dinner at the«nicer» part of the Fish Market. Background: Ive been to the Fish Market a few times and like the food and service. If I Unilocaled the«regular» Fish Market; I’d probably give it 4 stars. Atmosphere(the only reason I rated it a TWO or else this would have been a ONE star rating): Its nice we felt booshie walking up stairs and having a separate greeting area. The view was also very nice and liked being able to see your food being cooked as the kitchen is basically right next to the dinning area. Service: Very underwhelming. We had some cool young asian guy with no personality which led to a lot of uncomfortable pauses in our interactions. Our salads came out before the wine/martinis and it took our cool guy server 15 minutes to ask us what we wanted for appetizers. It was not busy and I saw multiple servers so I can’t really see a good excuse as to why the service was so slow. Food: Crap, ordered the cioppino is was watered down, under flavored, and came with ONLYTHREE shrimp total(come on!). I have personally made cioppino many times and know what good cioppino tastes like. Drinks: I tasted the cucumber martini and appletini, crap. The wine list was kinda slim with not that many local wines. Overall Experience: I came in expecting a lot and was terribly disappointed considering I like the Fish Market. Over priced food backed up by bad service, made for a really bad experience for us all.

Service was great. They were quick at clearing our table and accommodating the party of 8. The bottom part of the restaurant was too full so they moved us upstairs. Although, there was one waitress who was cold and didn’t bother cracking a smile. We got mostly pasta from the menu. They were all very creamy and rich. The seafood was spectacular. The shrimp I took out of one of the pasta dishes was sweet and chewy. The calamari fritti was great! Nice, crunchy, and chewy. The sauces that came with it was very rich. I believe it was tartar and marinara. Our group probably looked underdressed since we didn’t expect getting moved up onto the top. The view in the top of the market is perfect for a romantic dinner or you just want to feel fancy.

I was very pleasantly surprised with Top of the Market. We came here for a client lunch and the food was actually pretty decent. They have a good sandwich/salad special where you can get a half sandwich and salad. I got the crab melt and really enjoyed it. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their dishes as well. My one complaint was around service — our waitress was very apathetic and cold. From the moment we got there, they had trouble accommodating our party size(party of 8) even though we had a reservation. They put us at a very small table which was uncomfortable considering it was a business lunch.

This place isn’t bad, nor was it amazing. It was just an average chain-style eating establishment. MALPEQUEOYSTERS — Prince Edward Island, Canada 14 KUMAMOTOOYSTERS — Humboldt Bay, CA13.5 The oysters didn’t taste the freshest. They were on the verge of being not fresh. SHELLFISHCOMBINATION9.5 /17.5 TRADITIONAL — wine, shallots, garlic, chili flakes This was a combo of green and black mussels. The green ones were really big and plump. I actually enjoyed these. ROASTEDORGANICMIXEDBEETS8 frisee, apples, goat cheese & tarragon, Marcona almonds I am a fan of beets so this was good. WASHINGTONPETRALESOLE25.5 lemon-caper beurre blanc, green beans, mashed potatoes, roasted mitake mushrooms The portion is a good size. I thought the fish was bland. The texture of everything was soft and mushy. I would’ve liked something fresh and with crunch in my dish. SPICYSCALLOP&DUNGENESSCRABLINGUINI20 Granoro pasta, spicy tomato-fennel-olive sauce, romano cheese This wasn’t spicy at all. It was slightly on the bland side but it can be remedied with scooping the sauce from the bottom and eating it together. ATLANTICSEASCALLOPS26 fresh English peas, corn, cherry tomatoes, bacon, pea purée, polenta croutons The scallops were cooked decently but it was slightly too salty for my taste. SPICYSEAFOODSTEW31 shellfish, prawns, fish, calamari, Mediterranean octopus, scallops in a tomato-harissa broth This wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t spicy of course. The seafood in it was pretty fresh looking and you have the option of adding 1,2,or 3 ounces of crab.

Top of the Market is so delish! It’s located on the second floor of The Fish Market. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. The service upstairs is very good. The waiters are very knowledgeable of their menu and are accommodating to substitutions when requested. Oysters — six large and thick with three sauces Sole — delicious! I substituted the green beans with spinach which went well with the creamy mashed potatoes, the mushrooms, and capers Fish & Chips — crispy fries, two large beer battered fish Trio Gelato — chocolate, berry, pistachio all very refreshing Overall, everything was very good. The portion was large enough to fill me up and still have leftovers to pack. They provided complimentary bread as well. I’ll dine at the Top of the Market upstairs versus The Fish Market downstairs always!
