Love Sushi

I understand that RPV is an expensive area and rent must be high.
I also understand that foot traffic must be fairly low in this area.
For what they offer, its not bad. Would I order again? No.
This review is based on take-​out.

I used to love them. And maybe because all I ever ordered was simply shrimp tempura or a simple California roll and I always called in my order and picked up. I had one bad experience with my order that I don’t recall exact details I just remember I decided to stay away from this place. But about a month ago i couldnt recall how bad the experience was so i decided to give it another try. And THAT experience I would not forget… So I finally decided to go in and sit down. I walked in sat at the bar, was not greeted by any of the chefs who literally just watched me walk in and stared at me sitting down. The waitress walked by a few times to assist other customers never once cared to ask had I been helped or bothered to hand me a menu. Finally the CUSTOMER sitting next to me handed me a menu and after 20 minutes of waiting the waitress finally walks over to take my order. I then ordered a baked roll, I don’t remember exactly which all I remember is that when my order finally came, you would’ve never thought it was even baked to begin with. It was so soggy that when I picked up a piece it was literally falling apart. When I called the waitress over to ask why was it so soggy she simply told me that’s how it’s made and then shouted something in Japanese to the kitchen. I ate one piece and could not imagine that that is really how it was meant to be made. When I asked for my check I’m sure the waitress could tell I was annoyed with the horrible service. She brought me my check and basically told me that the chef who prepared my order was new and made a mistake and for that they took off 10% from my order. TEN PERCENT are you KIDDING ME??? I basically paid for some new hires practice and they give me a $ 2 discount. Thanx but NO THANX. Never ever again!!!

LOVE this place! Fresh and delicious and the chefs always treat us like family. Service is much better than the overrated sushi joint across the street and the portions are more generous, too!

Kind of crowded place with small amounts of places to sit at. One waiter for everyone in the restaurant.
Food was good and my wife really liked it. We would probably go back.

My husband and I popped in here just as they were opening for the day and the staff was super friendly.
Why 2 stars then? Nothing on the menu really jumped out at us as something we were excited to try, so we ordered some very basic rolls (california/​philly/​etc) and sashimi. We were mostly unimpressed as it seemed to be poorer quality than supermarket sushi.
The fish was warm and the second I took a bite it was if my palate cried out in horror. The rice was way over-​done and made eating the sushi difficult.
I knew if I took another bite I would most likely be gravely ill. We pushed our food around on our plates to make it look like we ate some of it. We felt that if we sent it back, it would just be more of the same warm fish. Raw fish should never be warm like that. I fear that it may have been just sitting out for hours.
Sure enough, the second we got home my stomach was in dire need of evacuating itself. Gross.

Nice little place inside. The evening ambiance is cool, and the food was pretty good for the price as well. Definitely am a fan of the Dragon Roll and Fantasy Roll, thanks to reading other Unilocal reviews.
Portion size for the rolls is nice and big. Each roll can easily serve at least 2 people or more, especially if you’re getting A variety. Will be back.

This is my «Go to» Sushi place when I am in town… I like taking my order to go mostly. They are very friendly and courteous as well.

This is an ok sushi place. It’s nice to have one in town, but I wish the service was a little better. I feel like they may appeal more to the «regulars» that they know. Would prefer they didn’t put sauce on all their rolls. I forget to ask for things without the sauce and then am slightly disappointed.

Was craving sushi and miss my local spot in my old hood. The crab texture in the roll was weird, maybe imitation? The spicy tuna was too spicy for me (I know it is supposed to be spicy tuna but it was a bit too much for me). I did enjoy the dynamite app and the service was good, I just don’t think I would come back before seeing what else the neighborhood offers.

Went in to get some ramen with and was brought the wrong one, i tell the waiter and he comes back saying that the cook might be having a bad day and that they’re basically the same thing. I was really let down by this especially sine the ramen i wanted was on a large poster in the window of the place.

The sushi was spot on. I definitely recommend the 911 roll. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The pork ramen was delicious as well. Clean and organized, the food arrived pretty quickly. Definitely recommend this place.

Sushi roll was decent but the ramen was terrible. Worse ramen than the packaged stuff at home. The people that worked there were very nice.

Really nice staff. Definitely the best sushi in San Pedro. Good fusion dishes and kid friendly.

Bad! With so many options for good sushi in this town it is a shame that this place is still open. The edamame was absolutely flavorless. The teriyaki chicken was super dry. The California rolls also had an odd flavor to them. We had a table towards the back of the restaurant and the servers hung around the back corner near our table the whole time. I don’t like feeling like I’m being watched while I eat. It’s annoying. I really wish I would have complained about how bad I thought the food was. I am upset that I actually paid for this food.

I like their poke combo! Two choices of fish and it comes rice, cucumber salad, a big bed of greens, seaweed salad, and soup. Plenty of food for $ 12.99.
Their oysters are pretty fresh and their dressing is good with it.

Everything about this place is so average,
Sushi is above average tho, the dragon roll here is better that most sushi places I’ve been too
The outside of this place looks run down and crap, but once you step inside its like going into a completely different place.
The rolls here a slightly cheaper, about a dollar less than some of the other places I’ve been too which is a plus cause the roll weren’t half bad

I love Love Sushi!!! The music the play is great. 2 Tvs to watch your sporting events! Small venue but quick service.
Now to the food… I always order the seaweed salad, omg so good and a giant portion, $ well spent! Best seaweed salad I’ve had!
My boyfriend usually orders a rainbow roll and sashimi and we’ve never been disappointed.
Ive ordered a couple of the specialties, delicious.
They are very quick and the food is fresh.
When we stay at my boyfriends place in San Pedro, love sushi is where we go!

Never coming back.
I was craving sushi yesterday for lunch, so I stopped by for a quick to-​go order. I chose the rainbow roll, and asked for only salmon on top. The chef and waiter were friendly and able to quickly fulfill my order. However, the second I got home and ate a few bites, I started to instantly regret my choice. The salmon was tasteless. I only ate two pieces of my roll before opting to throw the whole container away. I didn’t want to take a chance with raw fish, so I decided that being hungry was better than having food poisoning. My stomach did feel weird for a few hours after– so glad I decided against finishing the complete roll. I’ve never had sushi so bad before, and won’t be back again.

Only happened to try this when next-​door Maui Chicken was closed, but I’m sure glad I did !
Sweet Edamame Beans were set down before I ordered anything. All the condiments and dipping sauce dishes were at the table neatly and ready to go.
The House Salad is a good mixture of lettuces, tomatoes and other greens with a very tasty dresing (I have to guess it was a blend of citrus, sesame and soy or miso.)
Philadelphia Roll had a nice richness to it and was well presented.
The Sashimi Salad was a feast for the eyes as well as a delight to eat ! Very generous portion of perfectly cut, fresh salmon, tuna, and 2 kinds of white fish. One of the white fish seemed to have been lightly pepper crusted — never had this before but liked it.
The Shashimi Salad included a variety of dark and tender greens with a delicious and lightly sweet & sour soy and sesame dressing. There was pickled cucumber salad as well, which was given a nice touch by having the seeds all cut out before slicing. They topped the dish with black and white toasted sesame seeds, delicate surimi (krab meat) and fresh radish sprouts.
This was all so good that I came back the very next day to have a repeat performance of the meal !
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, I tried their Special Poke Box. This was like a bento box of epic proportions, with two choices for the poke (I had salmon and mixed fish,) Miso Soup, Cucumber Salad, Seaweed Salad, a small green salad, and a starter of Edamame Beans. They will make the Poke spicy or Hawaiian style on request. On this visit I was offered complimentary Green Tea Ice Cream as well.
So now, Poke is my new favorite dish here ! There is a very large menu for a myriad of other things to try, if I can ever get away from my instant favorites !
In spite of a substantial list restaurants that I love, I have been drawn back here six times in the last two weeks ! Take out orders were presented beautifully as well !

Great place, fresh sushi and inexpensive… I’ve trying different places and this is the best…
Isn’t a big place, but is cozy and they treat you as a family!
