Just moved out to San Pedro 3 weeks ago and decided to check out downtown and grab a beer with a friend. Went into San Pedro Brewing Company and got great service from Wendy the bartender. She provided great tips as to what areas in San Pedro to check out and to come back on the first Thursday of every month for DJ and entertainment in downtown. Highly recommend San Pedro Brewing company if you want to catch a game or go out for some drinks with friends. Can’t thank Wendy enough for the great recommendations, awesome mixers, and bubbly personality every time I go in!

Pros: Service was fast. Appetizers were good. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was decent, beer was good quality. Cons: Kinda expensive. Buns seemed stale and dry, missing onions from our fries, and missing mac and cheese. Initially rated this 3 out of 5 as the food tasted fine while we we there. However 4 hours after I ate here I was literally vomitting uncontrollably. I had to go to the hospital emergency room. Doctors told me I was food poisoned, likely by due to bacteria buildup in the coleslaw at this restaraunt as this was the only meal I had to eat all day. I told the owner, he said he’d issue a refund. Didn’t hear from him for a while but a couple weeks later he did get back into contact with me and mailed me a refund with a gift card and a sincere apology which I really appreciate. He also offered to give a tour of the brewery, which was a very nice gesture. I think overrall this was a case of an honest mistake by the cook(s), obviously not intentional. But I still don’t think I’ll be visiting this place again as I don’t even want to run the risk of getting sick again. All in all, this place is nice as a place to get beer and watch sports. Has relaxed and friendly ambience. And the owner/management are well-meaning and professional. I just wouldn’t trust the food after what happened to me.

From snacks anyday like gaffey fries to dinner like the chicken fried steak on Wednesdays, you can’t really go wrong with brew co. Their beer list changes a bit, but always an awesome selection of both home brews and guest brews! Great spot to relax and cool off while watching the big game!

JUST A FANTASTICPORTTOWNBAR! When I want to entertain visiting friends or family, this is where I take them first! The owner, James Brown, enthusiastically supports the local community and really knows how to throw a killer party. This is definitely the best place in Peedro to watch football, baseball, hockey or basketball. The food is terrific and the drinks are reasonably priced.(They brew their own beer right on the premises … and also stock popular national brands.) The seasoned bartenders, Tommy Gjonovich and Sean Cole, will always do you right … because that’s just what righteous dudes do. Big Mike is one of the coolest bouncers you will ever meet. Some really good bands play the stage on a regular basis. «Brew Co» is the classiest bar in San Pedro … and I can guarantee that you’ll have a great time at this local favorite! Cheers!

Friendly attentive staff. Fairly Priced. Clean. Good Atmosphere. Came here to watch the superbowl and they even decorated with the teams colors in balloons. Inviting and old school style. We got a veggie burger and hot wings. They were yummy and it came with a lot of food :)

From the Rust Belt on the East Coast to San Pedro, CA. This place feels like HOME to me. My husband and I just moved here from the East Coast about 2 years ago, and just bought a home in SP. We found this place and have been so happy that we did. This place is a great one stop shop for a hometown vibe, awesomely nice staff, delicious food, and a great environment. It has become a staple for us– and we go a couple of times every month. They always have delicious specials, including the awesome soups. It can get rowdy on college football days, but that just makes me feel like I am at home so I’m cool with it. The beer is usually a weird mix, but I always find something that I want. Prices are totally decent, and honestly I havent had anything on the menu that wasn’t good. If you find yourself in San Pedro, give it ago. So good!

My boyfriend and I stopped in and immediately loved the prohibition-era décor! The place wasn’t busy, but lively with a football game on TV. The menu and food was fantastic; we had a tough time deciding what to eat! My top 2 beer choices had run out, but we both enjoyed the brew we picked. Service was great and gave personal recommendations. We cannot wait to come back!

Let me start by saying I Love San Pedro and if you haven’t visited recently take the time and check it out! So I needed to do 2 things to day; eat and get a gift for my nephew. So the eating portion of the day was well satisfied at SP Brewery. I walked and ant it was self seating so I chose a spot strangely enough near a table with a pre schooler and a baby. That is not normal for me to purposely put myself near beings with a propensity to screech. But the little guy was precocious but well behaved and when the kid in him started to come out his mother and the waitress found balance and kept him happy and mostly in his seat. Excellent customer service there! I ordered a bomber IPA and a veggie burger. I was happy to see a few VG/V options on the menu and the beer selection seemed pretty good; I especially like that they rotated their IPA selection in addition to offering seasonals. Initial taste of my IPA is that it was a little green, but as it warmed up that self resolved and was a decent IPA. My Veggie burger was very standard issue but they grilled my onions mmmmm. Basically when you venture to a place that doesn’t specialize in VG/V food it’s just nice to be able to order something. The sweet potato fries were good crispy and hot. No complaints there. I’ll go back again for sure.

I come in here for a beer somewhat randomly. Love the feel of the bar but have always struggled w the beer menu. Frankly, the owner is clueless. Why there isn’t always a red ale, a porter and an IPA that isn’t über hoppy on the menu is beyond me. After reading thru the bad reviews here, the reason is this. An absentee owner. NEVER on the floor. I know who he is, but rarely see him. Nor his bar mgr. Crew runs the show and does what they feel like. This clown has a couple female bartenders who neither talk to customers nor pay attention to them. And do I really want to see a woman who’s 5 – 4170 pounds in shorts up to her butt. Total lack of professionalism. Again, owner inspired Again, most pathetic beer menu I’ve seen. Done. Never going back. Until there’s a REAL businessman running it. #GLWT

I am reviewing this establishment as a brewery. I loved it! We came in late one night before hitting up the Lobsterfest. We didn’t order any food but decided to stop by because we love beer. We ordered a flight and tried all of them. My favorite was the hef and the Pilsner. Someone wrote that the hef tasted watered down. To me it tasted so smooth and perfect for easy drinking! We actually loved the beers so much we decided to purchase a growler filled with the Pilsner to drink at the Lobsterfest. I honestly really like this brewery and hope them much success in crafting their brews.

This is a good local pub and eatery. Nice ambience and good service. The beer is good and so are the cocktails. We were there on Margarita Monday so they were less expensive than usual. We did appetizers and they were all excellent. The ahi appetizer was good and the calamari was excellent. Great place to go for the games too as they have lots of screens around to watch the sports on.

Review for Dinner: Calamari — decent bar food. Exactly what you would expect when you order it. 4⁄5 Ahi tuna — tastier than expected! Avocado was quite flavorful and the sandwich was on fresh grilled bread, which enhanced it greatly. The waitress recommended this and I was skeptical but I shouldn’t have been. 5⁄5 Mac and cheese — ordered as a side was nice and creamy. I like it when a place sticks with traditional mac and cheese and doesn’t try to fancy it up(ultimately destroying its savory charm) by adding sharp cheddar or mushrooms or some other idiotic ingredient. 5⁄5 Coronas — $ 3! Can’t beat that. Rougher crowd but I think that might be due to the area. Everyone was perfectly gentlemanly but it wasn’t the manicured clientele of OC that I typically see out and about. The bar was pretty big and had lots of TVs tuned in to ESPN, also a mostly enclosed patio area in the front. The bar itself is just a teeny bit run down with the menus looking old and tired but the furniture and bar are wood and are aging well. One reviewer previously mentioned that this bar reminds him of the one in Cheers and I think that is spot on. Nothing fancy or unique– just a friendly, solid, neighborhood bar.

I woke up late and they aren’t showing the Raider game on TV at my house. I decided to go the the Brewco to watch it. What a great decision! When I arrived around 11:30am, there was a buffet set up. I was told it was a breakfast buffet and it was only $ 10. $ 10 bucks !?! Ha! It included coffee, orange juice, scrambled eggs, chorizo, sausage, bacon, potatoes, fruit, cream cheese and bagels and tortillas. Incredible deal they will have every Sunday during football season. They had all the games on TV, and the Raiders are even beating Cleveland! To top it off, the staff of beautiful girls where constantly making sure that I had plenty of food and drinks. Excellent place to check out.

I dropped by here to meet Mike B from Pedro(for the first time), his son-in-law Miles, and Steve S, who is always down to try a new place. San Pedro Brewing is like many of the craft brewery type genre places offering apps like calamari, covered fries, and sliders. It is located on 6th near Center, in Pedro(San Pedro). They have been open for 16 years. Steve and I ordered off the HH menu(½ order for $ 3.95): Calamari, gaffey fries & wangs. In addition, Mike & Miles ordered blackened ahi, potstickers, and garlic cheese bread. To drink, I had the beer flight(HH $ 10), and Makers Mark whisky($ 5 on Whisky Wed). First of all, the calamari was very good. It was lightly battered, the calamari was tender, and it came out hot: 4 Stars. Secondarily, the fries were really good also. They were smothered in cheese and had a ton of bacon. The combo went very well together: 5 Stars. On the other hand, the wangs were just OK. They were good sized, but did not have much heat: 3 Stars. Our next item, the ahi was really good too. The ahi was very fresh, and the portion was large: 4 Stars. Conversely, the potstickers were just OK to me. They were deep fried vs pan fried, and I prefer the latter: 3 Stars. Lastly, the garlic cheese bread was ono! It was a great way to end the outing. They were not as good as Basilico’s in Huntington Beach, but nonetheless, they were garlicky and combined well with the tomatoes: 4 Stars. My impression of the beer: They make good $hit here! I enjoyed all 6, and the price was fantastic. I would have ordered more, but I was so full afterwards I had to order a whisky — LOL!: 5 Stars. Likewise, the whisky was excellent. I don’t know too many places where you can get top shelf like Maker’s Mark for $ 5, regardless of a special: 5 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, SPB is in an old building in the middle of a block. The inside is your typical sports bar: TVs all around, tables, and plenty of craft beer. The only downside was no ventilation. It was a steamy summer night, and some ceiling fans would work wonders: 3 Stars. On the other hand, the service was excellent. Mile’s brother works here, but the service was good before he and Mike arrived: 5 Stars. Meeting new people over food and drink is a great way to get to know one another. I already know Steve is cool, but I found out Mike is cool too. We are already planning another get together. Maybe we can get some other Unilocalers to join us. We invited several female Unilocalers to this outing, all of whom declined. Hmmm, do we smell? hahahahaha

3.5 stars rounded up. San Pedro Brewing Company’s menu is the kind that scares me, you know the«there’s a little something for everyone» type: potstickers, nachos, wings, pastas, seafood, BBQ, & a partridge in a pear tree! My concerns about quality were dispelled with our first bites. The boys raved about their BBQ combos: chicken, trip tip, baby back ribs were all excellent, as were their sides of mac & cheese & potato salad. Creamed corn was all cream & very little corn. I enjoyed my Romaine & Blue Cheese salad. Fresh, dark leafy greens, the right amount of dressing, delicious tomatoes & candied walnuts, accompanied by the best garlic cheese toast! The only alcohol we partook in was, you guessed it, a michelada. Not bad, but not amazing. Lively, fun bar atmosphere. Oh, & the bearded dude at the front door who looks like he could kick your ass into next week(security? doorman? customer service liaison?) — he’s a big, lovable teddy bear!

Let the bromance begin. Met a couple of my Unilocal Buddies here(Joe P & Mike B). This is one of Mike B’s favorite bars and I can see why. If you ever watch the TV sitcom Cheers, well, That’s what it reminded me of when I came here. It seems like everyone know everyone. The service was friendly and it had that easy going vibe going on.
It’s a great way to catch a game and enjoy some adult refreshment. The bar had a big screen right in the middle of the bar and a few smaller ones in the periphery. Unfortunately, I don’t drink, so I will leave the review for the adult beverage to my friends. I did see some good pricing for Happy Hour and on Wednesday, they have Whiskey Wednesday. Any whisky any way you want it for $ 5. Not a bad deal(I was told, lol) I however eat and here are the dishes we tried: Bruschetta — It’s basically a garlic bread dish with some some tomato and basil in a cup at the center of this dish. The garlic bread by itself was already really good. But once you put the tomato and basil mixture with it, WOW! That is so GOOD. One of the better bruschetta anywhere. Calamari — Crispy and tender. The dipping sauce was probably the weak point for me. A better marinara sauce would definitely solidify this dish. Gaffey Fries — Basically a loaded fries. Cheese, Bacon Bits, Green Onions and Perfectly fried fries rounds out this dish. The quintessential bar food. Dipped in ranch and you’re home free. Potstickers — At a bar? Yes at a bar and it’s good. The pork meat inside was flavorful and the outside skin was crispy. Dipping sauce made this dish better. And with some greens at the bottom of the place, use the dipping sauce as a salad dressing and you have yourself a sold dish. Wings — Were the only disappointing dish we had. It wasn’t spicy and it was overcooked. Pass on this one. Pro’s Tip(from Mike B) Get the Seared Ahi or the Cajun Meatloaf. Thanks to Mike B for introducing us to SPBC and it’s always a blast hanging out with Joe P =) SPBC is a really nice neighborhood bar with friendly service and a good atmosphere to unwind and relax in. 2015 Review #112

San Pedro Brewing Company has occupied a mid-block location on 6th Street in San Pedro since 1999, but I finally came in. DH loves craft brews, so I thought that he should check this place out. It occupies the equivalent of two store fronts. There are two small indoor dining rooms(about 8 tables each), a patio that is enclosed on three sides(with another 8 or so tables) and a full bar. There are three or more televisions showing whatever sports may be available(Saturday lunch means golf… lots of it). The eclectic background music is awesome — everything from Frank Sinatra to 80s hits. We knew the words to every song — love that kind of place. It looks like a pub — a man’s place. The service is great — very friendly and pretty attentive. They open at 11:30 for lunch, and we seated ourselves. A new staff person coming on duty immediately brought over a high chair and booster seat. We our decisive, so we were ready to order when our waitress arrived. DH was VERY disappointed that they don’t have all of the house brews available all of the time, because he really wanted to try the house Imperial Stout. Instead, he had the Left Handed Milk Stout($ 6.75), which he has had before and enjoys. We shared: Grilled Artichoke Appetizer($ 9.95) — a smallish artichoke is quartered(but not trimmed — lots of thorns) and grilled and served with a lemon aioli. 2 stars. This was the only miss, and I would definitely not order it again. The aioli was good, but the untrimmed artichoke was difficult to eat without injury and underseasoned. Major bummer. Soup and Salad Combo($ 8.95) — a very generous bowl of New England Clam Chowder was creamy and had clams, potatoes, celery and carrots and was well seasoned. Served with a bit of baguette cut on the bias and topped with melted cheese as well as oyster crackers, this was a meal in itself. Then, you had a «petite» Caesar along side, which was a generous serving of chopped romaine in a delicious dressing with grated Parmesan cheese and a few(store bought — bummer) croutons. Tasty. DHLOVED the soup — 4 stars. The salad was good(not the best ever but a solid 3 stars). Corned Beef Reuben with Mac and Cheese($ 10.95) — first of all, we got the«side» of Mac and Cheese to be our daughter’s entrée. Glad we did because(a) it was delicious and(b) it was HUGE. It was the cup for a cup of soup absolutely loaded with an incredibly creamy mac and cheese and topped with more cheese and finished under the broiler. It comes out molten, so we got a plate and spread it out. Wow… well seasoned, super creamy and oh so good. 5 stars. The reuben was a solid 4 star sandwich — grilled Rye is smeared with Russian dressing(I should have asked for extra, because I like it drippy, which it is not) and topped with the coleslaw and melted Swiss cheese. The corned beef had a couple of chewy spots, so I cannot say that this was the best ever, but it was incredibly good. Waters remained full, and there were crayons and a coloring page for our LO. I recommend it! FYI — Metered street parking only.

Went walking around Ports O’ Call for the first time and realized there was a Dodgers game on, so I Unilocaled sports bars in the area and came across this gem. This is definitely a great spot to watch the game. You can hear Vin Scully loud and clear and it wasn’t too crowded. The food and beverages were yummy as well. I ordered a Reuben with corned beef. I loved how generous they were with their meat portions and everything was proficiently cooked. To drink I had a Michilada. These aren’t always made well at non-Mexican places but the bartender here definitely knew what she was doing. If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely make a point to stop here and hopefully watch a Dodgers game again!

Good spot my buddy suggested. Beautiful SoCali day, sat outside, ordered the patty melt with fries. My buddy had the steak sandwich with chili and salad. He looked like he enjoyed his meal, I know my patty melt hit the spot. The burger used was nicely cooked and of very good quality. Both juicy and seasoned well. The fries were cut thick and tasty, though I wish they cooked them a little longer. Service is on point and our food came out fast. Was on the clock and far from home so we didn’t get to try any of their beers but I’m sure they’re good too.
