I got the lunch special of chicken saag(spinach and chicken)? along with some rice and Naan. I came after lunch hour had ended, but they still honored lunch combo special, which was nice. The food was good, but there wasn’t much chicken, and the pieces ofc chicken that I did get, had a lot of bones. Flavor and everything else was on point though

I had a incredible meal with Kat. Very authentic Indian cuisine. Rather inexpensive. Kat and I recommend Lamb seek Kanab Ghobi chicken Daal Gosht onion and garlic Naan and plain rice. Stop by and enjoy. You won’t be disappointed.

I am not sure how many times this place has changed ownership since it became an indian restaurant. Everytime I go it is hit and miss. Not consistent. I finally gave up and decided to ignore this place while there are tens of other places around. Sometimes I even go to East Bay for good but not expensive Indian food.

Compared to anywhere in SF it’s below average. Tanduri chicken and biryani lacked seasoning and flavor. Very plain. The naan was the best part

I walked by this place a hundred time because I am all about quality and this place didn’t fit the bill of fancy. Hungry at 9 on a Sunday walking by for the hundredth and first time I went in. The food was all excellent so good I went back the next day. Thanks for the delicious food!

My review for this place is long overdue. Went here a couple of weeks ago as a side trip. Was actually looking to eat at a nearby restaurant that ended up not being open yet, lucky me. This place was AH!!-MAZZZIIINNNG! And I’m not just talking about the food. The service too! We didn’t really know half of what we were ordering, I ordered butter chicken and some kind of kebab, and boobee ordered a Shrimp curry of some kind and a side of chicken thigh. I expected to get 4 dishes when they brought our food out, but there was only 3. I thought since we ordered so much we were still waiting on one. We had already eaten our food, and a 4th plate never came out so we spoke to a gentleman(I guess the owner? He was in charge) and told him about our order. Apparently the cook had put our two side dishes together on one plate since the kebabs were small, and my boobee had eaten them thinking it was a side to his chicken! So the guy asked me if I wanted anything else since it was eaten so I ordered some garlic naan, and he refused to let me pay for it. My fault I didn’t even recognize my own food and then gives me naan? This place is great! Eating in also give you privilege to free chai tea, which was also pretty damn good. If I ever go back into town, I’d definately come back here to eat.

I LOVE that they have their vegan food noted! They don’t have too many vegan options but the ones they have are really good! They get their food ready fast and they are really nice!

Quiet and comfortable on a Sunday evening, my Karahi paneer was excellent. Freshly prepared and just spicy enough to be challenging but not overwhelming.(I ordered moderately spicy). I even ate the peppers! The samosas were good, but I wasn’t expecting so much cinnamon flavor. Very friendly staff, I recommend this place for a relaxing dinner. The complimentary chai tea is a nice touch!

I love this place so, so, so much because FINALLY in San Rafael there is a casual, inexpensive place to grab some delicious Pakistani and Indian dishes with your family or by yourself. Apologies to the other, older restaurants in the neighborhood– they just don’t match how comfortable it is to eat at Naan ‘N’ Curry. Although the interior is now a bit updated(framed artwork on the walls, orange blankets cover the fluorescent ceiling lights, which give a softer ambiance overall but ain’t smothering), this place just wants to serve you satisfying food with zero pretensions. The food portions are great. What looks like a small bowl is quite filling. Go-to favorites are the Baingan Bhartha, Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka Masala(ooh, that spicy orange sauce can get plenty hot) and Karahi Paneer. Most dishes fall between $ 6.50 — $ 10.00. The naan is baked so fluffy and big, so it is easy to sop up the sauces after your meal. The complimentary chai tea just makes me happy. Beware of asking for adding spice to your meal. I made that mistake once to an order of Lamb Vindaloo, and my eyes were streaming tears and there was not enough water to quench my thirst! This place is located across the street from Lauren Place, near that trickling waterfall installation and courtyard. It might seem out of the way, which is perfect for me, as there are few passersby interrupt a great meal. All in all, I love going here for a quick fix of great food.

I went to Naan ‘N’ Curry for the first time last Wednesday — the night of a local school’s family fundraiser. The place was CROWDED! But the food came out surprisingly fast as the owner/family and cook staff worked vigorously to serve a full house. The owner’s second grade son, by the way, was incredibly hospitable and adorable. The atmosphere is simple and casual but I noticed little details that gave it some ethnic atmosphere — like the fabric thoughtfully hung from the ceiling to shield diners from stark florescent lighting. Without a full remodel, there’s probably not much more one can do in such a space. I ordered Chicken Biryani — mild for my daughter. It was too hot for her(spice hot) but on the low end of the spectrum for me.(My aunt tells me that we have wooden tongues.) In addition to the traditional ingredients(like cardamom pods which make me very, very happy), I discovered a couple of dried cherries — I think — and they were a marvelous sweet/tart/chewy addition to the dish which was not at all greasy or «ghee-ie». I also ordered Lamb Vindaloo(regular heat) — one of my favorite traditional dishes. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. It was very hot but not crazy hot. Maybe too hot for the average Marinite. I could’ve used a tad more heat. The paneer naan was delicious. Perfect chewy, toasty texture with bits of fresh onion and cheese(paneer). Very well cooked. I did not like the mango lassi at all. It tasted like it was from a mix and too watery. The color was dull. I prefer the flavor of fresh mango(even if the fruit was previously frozen). Made me miss Tabla’s out-of-this-world thick, fresh, yogurty mango lassi in Pleasanton(now out of business). I’m glad they didn’t really serve«lassie» — as per a previous reviewer. LOL The free chai and mint/lime water are very nice touches! The service was fine although our dishes came out piecemeal. From previous reviews, it looks like they may need to work on synchronizing their orders with their line and waiters. Everybody was kind, smiling, and willing to serve. The order of things isn’t as important to me as quality and value of the food and willingness to make things right. The portions were so generous I ate the leftovers for lunch for three days although I was tempted to eat all of my leftovers for breakfast the next day! Prices, for what you get, are very low for Marin but SHHHHH! don’t tell the owners. Naan ‘N’ Curry made me miss living in the East Bay where South Asian cuisine abounds but it makes me happy to think I have access to a good, family-owned substitute a few blocks from home. I’m looking forward to my return! P. S. It would be great if they delivered!(:

I LOVE Naan N’ Curry. Well during college days I would go to the San Francisco Irving location and it was the perfect comfort food. Now here in Marin, this Naan N’ Curry satisfies that craving. We normally order to go and the 3 times I’ve ordered using Eat 24, they’ve messed up my order and my order never went through. So we’re always ending up waiting at the location waiting for our food to be ready. That part is so annoying and so we’ve stopped using Eat 24 and just call in to order to go. Also I don’t like that there’s a minimum of $ 30 for delivery. That sucks because we rarely ever go that high to order food from there. My definite go to is the Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, and garlic naan. I’m sorry but I just can’t ever change this. I’ve tried others, but nothing has ever changed my mind about how good Chicken Tikka Masala is. lol

Food is improving. They provided food which was not greasy. Quite tasty. We got lamb shank, chicken seekh kebabs, daal, karahi chicken, lots of rotis. Salad and raita to end. Good food. Worth visiting if you want good Indian/paki food

Jails in Dubai have better food than this… My boyfriend from experience told me that he had better food when he was locked up in Dubai. I did enjoy the naan bread and the meat wasn’t mystery meat, it was real chicken. But they drowned it in this crappy version of «tikka masala sauce» that literally made my boyfriend puke after eating it. We got the combo which they advertise comes with a drink… But they had no drinks to offer. We will definitely not be returning here and strongly urging friends and family to steer clear of this«restaurant»

New management? Lots of stumbles. It was the cashier’s first day, but her two kids were hanging out at the restaurant. As the daughter of immigrants running a small business, I’ve had my share of spending long days at my parents’ store, too. So I understand. However, maybe the distractions were too much because we were given the wrong change, which she rectified in a blasé way, nor were we told that the curry did not come with bread or rice. Soft drink was not in service either. :-\ The food was a lot greasier than before. Plus, there was a profusion of what looked and tasted like raw, chopped garlic in the chicken curry. Very disappointing. The chicken kebab wrap was definitely not delicious either.

BESTNAANBREADEVER! They are soon soft & served warm. Lunch specials for $ 7 or $ 9 but if you order a regular entrée item, plain basmati rice is only $ 2 extra or $ 1 for plain naan. The chicken tikka masala is great! Very sweet with just a pinch of spice. Kids would love it! Next time I want to try the samosa(2 for $ 4) and daal or palak. Lovely outdoor seating with leather seats near the water feature! Downside… Drinks are very watered down. Even the chai tea. I love San Rafael but parking is a pain. Oh well…

I had the lunch special. The tikka masala which tasted more of tomato sauce than what it’s supposed to… The chicken in it was sad. The rice was over cooked and had no flavor. The naan was fluffy but a little too thick and dry in my opinion. They didn’t have coin change so they didn’t give me my change… I would have put it in the tip jar anyways but just not having change seems like a tactic to keep that money, so it doesn’t make you feel too great. Overall not the worst Indian food I’ve had and the service is alright but I have yet to find a place as mind-blowing as Torch of India in Santa Rosa. Which is definitely worth the drive especially during the lunch special.

Great service, great lunch special, overall great place to eat! I have already come here 4 – 5 times and they always act super friendly, the last time even offering my 1 year old son a little cup of Mango Lassi to try, which he loved(and then offered me an entire glass!). The tikka masala is delicious and the naan is always perfect. Simply no complaints here!

I spotted this lil place when I was getting my milkshake fix, I vowed to come back since I’m always looking for tasty Indian. The look is rather plain but you ignore that once you eat your food. My sister and I both got lunch specials and the guy taking our order was happy to switch things out for us and made some suggestions and if it cost more. We got compliments chai tea with our meal! Although I could do without the milk premixed. I ended up with butter chicken and my sister got the chicken vindaloo. We also got a lovely basket of nann, rice, raita and mango lasi. I liked that there were fennel seeds in the rice, it gave the rice a nice flavor. The nann was perfect for dipping into our food as well. As for the food… I’m in love with their butter chicken. It was so flavorful and creamy and really hit the spot. My sisters vindaloo was spicy! I don’t know if that was how spicy it usually is cause she asked for spicier. Man our nose were running! The chicken was in the bone but it fell right off making it easy to eat. We were glad we got raita cause that cooled our mouths down. Over all I was happy with our meal and I was stuffed! It’s nice to know there is a casual Indian place in downtown San Rafael. I’ll be back… For more butter chicken!
