Just had the best massage ever! Yuri was a great therapist. This was my first time receiving this type of massage and I will definitely be back. The pressure was good. The environment was relaxing and I was very comfortable. Not once during the massage did I feel violated. I almost hate to share how great my experience was because I wish I could keep this place to myself but that would be selfish.

I have tried every thai massage in SR and Rutsamee is by far my favorite — I feel they are just better than the others. I have been there twice now — with a different therapist each time.
Give them a try! you will be amazed. Second, I feel sorry for the business about the bad reviews they got from some of those whackos on here.. Try them and form your own opinion! I am glad I did!

Great massage! quiet and comfortable environment, friendly masseuse. she was responsive to where it hurt, where I need to be worked on, etc. chatted it up just the right amount. i have a big knot in my back so will be going back for a second session pretty soon!

The massage was painful and My arm is still sprain after 4 months. I told her that it was painful but she was like believe me you will feel good tmr. I def dont feel good until today. I did not want to leave a 1 star review but you actually should not use your elbow and knee to massage for a tiny body like me.

Making an appointment was painful. Too many restrictions. I would understand if they were super busy or popular massage place.
Collecting the money up front was weird. First time I have ever experienced. Also, it seems like you have to leave tip no matter what.
Masseuse gave me one of those limp-​handed smoosh-​smoosh massages that left me feeling like I’d been rubbed with oil. Not massaged. It was so boring that I had time to think about my Unilocal review instead of relaxing and enjoying. Not happy at all and definitely will no be back. This place is overrated.

I called to get a same day service but was very disappointed from the overall experience.
1. The receptionist was asking for payment in advance… not sure why is this a requirement, and just gave me a bad feeling about the place.
2. Suprise… the receptionist was also the masseuse which wouldn’t be much of a problem if she was good — but she wasn’t. was event more annoyed when the door bell rang and she just took off to see the new guest.
I would not go back to this place.

Had my first traditional Thai massage today. Wow. Intense and effective (this is an understatement). Will be going back for sure.
In response to other comments regarding Groupon: They actually honored a Groupon that had expired. And, I had no problems getting an appointment. I was offered several times. Totally impressed by this. Was not expecting an expired Groupon to be honored. I tipped heavily because my massage therapist worked her butt off at the end of the day (6:00 appointment) to give me a great massage.

As an avid cyclist I went to Rutsamee with my lower back in spasm and my neck so stiff I could not turn my head 90 degrees. I requested a 30 or 60 minute massage but the therapist recommended a 15 minute session would be more appropriate. As it was my first traditional Thai massage I had to defer to her expertise. The 15 minutes was an intense therapeutic experience that two days later left me capable of touching my toes with my palms, my neck with full range of motion and back on the bike pain free for hundreds of miles. Thanks Rutsamee! You work miracles!!!

This is an update of my review for this business. I feel the need that others need to be aware of business practices that are happening at this place. If you give them a bad review, be aware! You will be harassed by the owner of the business. My boyfriend and I have gone to the San Rafael police department to report them, and the owner is still harassing my boyfriend.
In my previous review, the owner had responded to my review. In his response he completely exaggerates the story and only tells his part. There was no iPad being thrown, hahahaha. That was funny, thanks for keeping it interesting! I also had a customer of yours comment to my previous review and tell me about the owners side of the story. Keep it professional, you only make yourself and business look bad when you talk about other customers.
I am sorry you guys have not gotten over this, but I highly suggest you do! Especially when the San Rafael police department is involved and knows about your conduct.

If you have been to Thailand you and love Thai massage this is your place! This is traditional Thai massage right here in Marin! The place has parking out front & has a beautiful moss garden outside under the big blue sign. Inside there is original art work done by the owner. There are two rooms used for massage. Just like in Thailand separated by cloth curtains. You change into a loose fitting t-​shirt & loose pajama pants provided for you. There are several different styles offered here. Swedish, prenatal and Thai. I always get the Thai. I have had three different masseuses on my massage odyssey here. All of them have been fabulous. If you have not had Thai massage be warned, it might hurt a bit. You will be walked on, elbowed, kneaded like clay until you are fully reassembled. I find this type of massage to be amazing for my health. Thai massage just makes life better. I could have a massage everyday when in Thailand and never tire of it. I usually lose a bit of retained water weight after I get this type of therapy. The soft music and beautiful art work makes this place really special. Much thought and love went into every detail of this place. I was thrilled to get a gift certificate coupon via email for my birthday! They have thought of everything!

This was my first Thai Massage – what an experience. We redeemed our Groupon with no issues. And, it was very easy to schedule an appointment. They also accept walk-​ins. I was fortunate to have been paired up with Rada. Prior to beginning of my massage, she asked me questions about any problems (pain/​ailments/​focus areas) that I may have as well as my limitations. If your are not familiar with the pressure levels, she will start at the top and work her way down as you provide feedback. I went for the deepest – it was no joke. Pride kept me from yelling out. Rada provided me with a wonderful experience. As I write this review (two days later) the tension in my shoulders, neck and lower back are gone. I have scheduled myself for another session in two weeks. Awesome experience! I am now hooked. Do not let yourself be intimidated.

This was my first experience with a Thai massage and I would have to say it was incredible. I generally can take some discomfort with a massage because I do have tense muscles. First time for everything, this was a great massage with many stretches and pressure points addressed. My neck and shoulders are very tight and cause me the most pain but in the first few minutes that was gone. She knew how to relieve that pressure right away. I look forward to going back again soon. Try them out you won’t regret it.

I am a massage therapist myself and wanted to get this Thai Massage. They never answered my calls to schedule an appointment. I went in there and scheduled it in person. So the actual massage was really AWESOME! I needed deep tissue in places because of the sports and work I do. She has very STRONG feet and Yuri really knows what she is doing, she is a professional and I’m definitely going back. The room was a little chilly but not big deal. I left feeling great which continued for the rest of the day!

I’ve had hundreds of massages in Asia and the US and this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had.
Atmosphere /​Location:
The place was clean and there is parking (most spas in San Rafael do). It is located on the street level on a busy street near 101. I could hear car noise the entire time. Also, the space is tiny and don’t expect a private room. They sub-​divided a room by curtains and squeezed 2 massage tables in it. The removable head piece didn’t fit at the head of the table (which is almost at the wall) but was put on top of the massage table, which created an uncomfortable angle for the neck, body and arms. I could also hear the staff walking around, doing chores including running water and laundry during my massage.
Massage:
I booked a deep tissue massage and they assigned Rada to me. For 10 minutes, all she did was to knead me with her elbows deeply, painfully and unsmoothly into my body. She didn’t use any gliding movement nor did she use her forearms or hands. After 10 minutes of the same kneading, I told her to stop using her elbows. She said «book a Swedish massage next time» and switched to a Swedish massage, which was relaxing, but superficial and didn’t do much to release my body aches and tension. I’ve had plenty of deep tissue massages where the therapists can achieve that with a combination of techniques, i.e. not elbowing the entire time.
I’m very sorry I wasted money at this place.

I would give this place a negative 5 if I could. They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
My wife and I purchased Groupons for this place and it took us over 3 weeks to try to get an appointment because they never pick up the phone. On the day of, when we showed up to the appointment, they said they ran out of lotion and could not do a Swedish massage. When we asked when they would get them in and if we could reschedule, they said they did not know. How can you be a massage place and run out of lotion in the first place and not know when you will get some in?
We drove 45 mins to get there and they didn’t have the courtesy to call us and let us know. Nor were they willing to reschedule. I couldnt pick a date before the voucher expiration since I was going abroad so asked if they would honor it when I returned and they said no.
My wife was scheduled for a Thai massage (no lotion needed) and we asked if she could still have hers. Another lady from inside kept saying stuff in Thai and they said they will not give her massage either and that we should request a refund from Groupon. I think based on the discussion above regarding rescheduling, they just declined any service. This was extremely rude.
Needless to say we are never going back there and nor should anyone else. Maybe their massages are good, but their customer service is horrendous. Worst I have ever experienced.

First, be aware that a Thai massage can be intense, since there is a lot of pressure used (i.e. someone literally walking on your back). With that said, though, this was a great massage. I’m not one for weak or «relaxing» massages, I want a massage that breaks up tense muscles, and this place definitely meets that requirement. The massage therapist was experienced and really helped loosen up my back. Thanks a bunch!

Rada was my masseuse for a 60 minute Thai massage. Wow, was she ever good. She found my sore areas quickly and worked hard to help my body release the tension I seem to always carry around me. I made another appointment. Can’t wait to go back!

Exceptional Thai massage. The place was very clean with ample parking.

I had my first massage there today with Yuri. It is not for the faint of heart. I had some longtime structural issues and was very tight with a partially frozen shoulder. I am home now and I can tell the shoulder has more mobility so I am delighted and will go back again. The spa appeared clean with ample parking. Yuri was on time and very skillful. Once I realized I could trust her, I was able to breathe into the deeper work.
I will definitely be going back hoping for the same professionalism and skillful work.
