Emily ROCKS! I really loved that she talked to me before starting to cut and getting an idea of how I wear my hair. She ended up realizing the idea I had in mind was going to be too much work for me and came up with a much easier cut! I seriously LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair. Plus she helped me donate it in the best way possible so that they would get the most from my hair. All in all a great price for a great cut with an amazing stylist.

If you can, go to Stacy! She listens and executes. She also has a lovely personality and makes you feel as though you are getting taken care of that she is not rushing through to get to her next customer; something I have experienced often at other high end salons. I love what she does every time I see her and am more than happy to make the commute from Berkeley to see her!

Zoe’s hair Removal is amazing !!! Zoe is very professional and does an amazing job in half the time of most people who Wax .she’s great.

I was lucky enough to get in with Stacey due to a cancellation. I rushed over from work and I was about 10 minutes late because of traffic from the farmers market. The receptionist was very nice and Stacey was excited to meet a new client. We did a partial highlight and the blonde looks perfect. Now I’m ready to lay out at the pool in Vegas next weekend with a cocktail in my hand. Thanks for fitting me in last minute!

I had been thinking about getting a side shave for quite some time now. One thing was for sure — I wanted to find someone who would do it professionally, not like someone who would just take a scissor to my head and have at it. After looking up some Unilocal reviews, I decided to give this place a try.
This was seriously one of the best decisions of my life — no joke. I called to make an appointment and both women on the phone were extremely helpful. One of them included a girl by the name of Emily — sorry to the other one, I forgot your name :(. Thus, the experience from the beginning was wonderful. They were extremely professional and polite, and best of all — they were able to take me the same day, within a few hours. More importantly, they ASKED for what TYPE of cut I was looking for because they wanted to MATCH me with someone who was familiar with that cut. HUGE KICKER HERE, PLACES RARELY DO THIS!
When I got there, I was introduced to my new forever hairstylist — Stacey! We could both relate with short hair. After showing her some pictures of the look I was going for, she executed perfectly and was not pushy whatsoever. It irritates me when some hair stylists say «it’s not a good look». She made it work and my haircut turned out better than I could have ever imagined. She walked me through the process of how to style my hair in the morning, since I hate spending time on my hair. The products and process fit right into my 5-​minute window each morning.
I am so grateful to have found this place — and to have Stacey as my new stylist. Although I just got it cut — I can’t wait to go back, thanks to the wonderful people at Shylocks!

This review is directed towards any Man looking to get a haircut.
All Men Haircuts at this salon are $ 50.00. They do not offer any less expensive haircut. They also do not disclose the price with you, unless you ask before you receive the haircut, until after you’ve already gotten a haircut. They also are very eager to try and sell you some products.
I have gotten the same if not better haircuts at multiple other Salons/​Barbers/​Supercuts/​Sports Clips/​the list goes on, in the north bay. For the price, I wouldn’t bother with this place. Just my honest opinion. I definitely wont be returning :/​
Pricey. Haircuts aren’t extraordinary. They get the job done basically for a premium cost.

Stacy is the bomb! She is extraordinarily talented, warm, patient and excellent with cover. I’m so glad I found her given that I thought it would be impossible to find a replacement for my much loved SF stylist after my move to Marin. The salon itself is comfortable, with easy parking nearby.

I’m a ‘call the day of and hope there was a cancellation and they can fit me in’ type of person, when it comes to hair salons — that’s how I found Alissa about six months ago. She’s been my go-​to ever since for both cut and color. She listens to what you want but is also open and honest about what she thinks is best (in her professional opinion) if you’re torn between what to do, or just have no idea what you want. I’ve also referred friends to her and they haven’t been disappointed.

I get my hair done by Stacey Khuu. I’ve been seeing her for awhile now and she does a tremendous job with my hair. I’m extremely picky with my hair stylist since not that many past stylist seem to meet my expectations well.
I originally have straight black/​short hair (Asian hair). Before I went to Stacey, I went from black to platinum in hair color. I attempted to get my roots touched up by a friend, in which my hair just started to thin out drastically. My hair basically felt like unstable stringy rope in which some of my hair started to fall off since it wasnt done properly. As a result, I went to Stacey for assistance. It typically takes me 5 rounds of bleach (i know horrible) to get my hair to platinum, in which she did it in 3 rounds. She knew exactly how to handle my hair and gave me this hair mask to restore my damaged hair (btw the hair mask works wonders).
I really trusted her in terms of hair dye because she has the same hair type as I do and dyes it often.
I now go to her frequently and get a trim here and there.
I highly recommend Stacey, especially for edgy haircuts and hair dyes.
My hair currently is slightly shaved on both sides with a nice swoop on the top and is currently platinum and SUPER healthy.

It’s been such a long time that Christina at Shylock’s has been tending to my hair, that I can’t even remember how many years it’s been! When I moved to Marin almost 20 years ago, I had to go through about 5 hairstylists before finding the gem of Christina. She does an amazing job on my hair, and it’s never been healthier under her magic touch. She really cares about how your hair turns out (I get full color and allover highlights), and is excellent about listening to what you need. I like that she’s never tried to «coerce» me into a look that’s not right for me — you can tell it’s important to her that you’re 100% satisfied with her work. She’s also lovely and smart, and makes the whole experience of having your hair done an enjoyable one! Christina — please don’t ever move away!

Trust hasn’t always been my strong suit. And I’m not always flush with cash, though enough regrettable trips to Barbershops have convinced me to aim higher. I started coming here in 2008 to visit Laura B. (yes, a Shylocks-​post-​Laura review, how pretentious and annoying) and got great cuts. I was not a regular, but she always made time for me and accommodated me like one.
Fast-​forward to early 2014, Laura moved on to Plum in CM (and may be in the process of opening her own Salon; props!). I’ve hit bottom with my local Barber and desire to look like the 31 year old rising star that I am ;), less like a 16 year old momma’s boy. I call Shylock’s and discover the news that Laura’s gone and the receptionist asks me if I’d like to book an appointment with Stacey K.
And this is where I trusted. I said «yes», showed up and was met with a wonderful experience. It was as though I didn’t miss a beat in terms of quality, vision, care and accommodation. Stacey has excellent skills and her own demeanor is professional and engaged. Her personal style is a hybrid of skillful personal expression and class. She is talented, energetic, intuitive, creative, and gorgeous and it is my pleasure to entrust my look to her.
As an example, the other day I had an audition to attend, and the state of my hair was awful; overgrown, weird and unprofessional. I got lucky and booked an appointment with less than 24 hrs notice. Stacey brought me from: «NO chance» to: «yes, there’s a chance» in about 30 minutes. If I don’t get cast, at least I’ll be left to wallow on my own with a superior haircut!
Cost is fair and doesn’t keep me from tipping well (or buying groceries).
Yes, there are more important issues in the world than my hair, but I have to give credit where it is due: respect to Stacey K. and to Shylocks!!!

Judy is still rocking my hair and even saw me through «cancer hair»! Consummate professional, but down to earth at the same time. Simply put knows her stuff like any swank top NYC stylist.

Stacey is great stylist and colorist. She really listens and gets the perfect color every time. I can trust her and just sit back and relax. She even made me a fresh pot of coffee. This place is friendly, fun, reasonably priced, and relatively easy to get an appointment at. What a find. :)

Judge a book by it’s cover. If both the salon and the stylists look like a hot mess, chances are you will too. You will not leave with pretty sophisticated chic classy hair — they don’t know what that is and will encourage you to think that unless you’re frying your hair you’re not having fun. Damaged does not even begin to describe what has been done to my tresses.

Fantastic salon! I highly recommend Alyssa, she is very skilled, great about clarifying exactly what you want before starting, nice sunny atmosphere. They always offer tea too!

I have been going to Stacey Khuu for the last 6 to 8 months and she is great. I met Stacey at another salon last year. When she moved to Shylocks I needed to go with her. She’s that good! I never used to get my haircut at a salon, and my first experience was with Stacey. She is very welcoming and puts people at ease. Every time I go back to her the haircut keeps getting better. She knows what she’s doing. Stacey has been a stylist at New York fashion week and is very well trained. Matter a fact I have an appointment with her today. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve been going to Shy Locks for many years — they’re wonderful and very skilled! I see Judy Winfrey — she’s amazing! They other hair stylists are excellent as well — you will become a loyal client very fast! ;)

It was hard when i moved from SF to find someone who i trusted as i had been going to the same person for years. Well, little did I know what I had been missing out on. Stacy is so up to date on hairstyles and trends. She frequently goes to shows and even just participated in fashion week in NY doing hair! She is great at what she does and would totally recommend her.
