Wow, this is a gorgeous place to go jogging, walk your dog, birdwatch, etc. Pretty secluded too, which is nice.

Been hiking here a lot lately. Plenty of open space, various trails, and a great place to go for some exercise. I start from Butternut drive and go all the way up and circle around the the Lucas Valley side, far enough that you can see the road that expects to Miller Creek middle school. It’s about 8 – 9 miles but the views are so beautiful that you don’t even think about the distance. You can either stay on the normal trail, or take one of the many side trails that drift off into other parts of the reserve. Any way you go you’ll be able to see the whole of Terra Linda and even way out to the bay. This will definitely remain a regular spot for me!

So pretty and we love hiking here. It’s not too steep either. Beware of cylists if you’ve got dogs. Keep them on leash for sure.

This is most defiantly my favorite place to go on a hike with my boyfriend and my dogs. The trail is long and dry. I often see other bikers and dog walkers, making it very dog friendly with doggy bags at the entrance. I often take my dogs leashes off, and I haven’t had any issues. I constantly come over and over again, having a great time and bringing home tired dogs. It’s a great beginning to my day. Warning: if you go off trail, or down the hill-face, I have seen poison oak leaves. If you are allergic, be careful when petting your dog if he/she has wandered off. Also watch for ticks. Also bikers frequently use that trail, so care for your dogs to avoid any incidences.

This is not«the» start of the new 680 trail, but it is a good starting point if you are in the area. There is a new trail through the preserve that you can take from Terra Linda to Loma Alta and the Fairfax open space. There are two particularly nice things things about this trail, first that it is a nice even grade and second that it is a shorter path back to Loma Alta so you don’t have to go up and over a big hill. While the trail is mixed use, open to hikers, mountain biking and horses our group only saw other hikers on this section. Even in the middle of the summer with dry hills the trail was very scenic.
