Urban Forestry Associates – Consulting Arborists

These guys are pros. I was very happy with their work and the speed at which it was done. I also had a few changes, which they turned around quickly and without complaint. I would definitely recommend them for all TPP and VMP work.

I met with Zach Vought today for an inspection of a large coast live oak that was dripping dark liquid on our deck and had other spots where a dark liquid was staining the tree. I called UFA because I had called Treemasters and the person who evaluated the oak said it had aphids and probably had root rot and needed to be cut down before it fell on our roof. Treemasters wanted $ 220 for inspecting the roots, with no guarantee that they would be able to say whether the tree had root rot or not. I wanted a second opinion from a company that wasn’t making money on selling me tree services. Zach arrived precisely on time and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He confirmed that the tree didn’t have aphids, but simply a common bacterial infection that would go away on its own. He also dug around the roots and confirmed that there was no rot, advising us to remove the soil from around the root crown to help prevent root rot in the future. UFA’s inspections are for a minimum of one hour, for a cost of $ 175. Since we had time left over, we had Zach look at another large valley oak and a mayten tree while he was there. He also told us we could purchase fungicides at WaterSavers at a low cost and spray our coast live oaks ourselves to prevent live oak disease. Definitely $ 175 well-​spent, both for peace of mind and useful information about the trees on our property.

It was well worth the consulting fee to have our trees inspected by an Arbor professional. Trees are an asset or a liability to homeowners and Urban Forestry Consulting Associates helped us decide which trees to invest extra care in or remove.
We were provided a detailed report on each tree and a site plan showing location of all trees in the property.
I highly recommend Urban Forestry Consulting Associates and will use them again.

Good old-​fashioned quality customer service with a smile. I know nothing about trees and our beautiful palm isn’t looking so good. A friend recommended we get some input from «someone who isn’t tied to a chainsaw» for an unbiased opinion. Called UFA and Zach came out for a look. Zach showed up on time, was very nice and professional. Withiin hours I had an report emailed to me along with some references of local tree trimmers to help me out. Honestly, wasn’t thrilled about spending the money to have someone come out but would do it again in a heartbeat with these guys.

What a pleasure it was to engage the services of Urban Forestry Associates. Rose who works in the office was customer friendly and efficient. Zach the arborist who came to my house was on time, professional and personable. His written report was emailed to me the same day the tree was inspected. My experience with the firm exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to use Urban Forestry Associates again in the future.

Ray Moritz and his group of arborists are the go-​to experts for trees. Whether it be tree removal issues & permits, concerns about neighbors trees, or tree health – they are the most trustworthy, professional resource you can find. We’ve consulted them for all of the above. Each time, they took time with us and carefully evaluated the problem, providing full reports and/​or advice. I highly recommend you consult them before you hire a commercial tree company to care for your trees. They are far more knowledgeable than any of the tree companies and can save you time and money as you proceed with your tree issues.

My neighbors behind my property are upslope and have two large oaks that are hanging over my property. I was very concerned that they were in danger of falling onto my house. I contacted Ray at Urban Forestry to take a look at the trees. He and his associate, Ben, spent about an hour determining the condition of the trees and gave a few recommendations that would would increase the health. Fortunately, they are strong and healthy, but I feel more more secure knowing that the trees received an evaluation by Urban Forestry Associates. I would definitely call them again for any tree consultation services.

Ray Moritz is a leader in his field! I am a local landscape architect, and most of our projects involve new construction around existing mature trees. Ray is a crucial consultant at the beginning of these jobs. He prepares detailed reports of existing trees including documentation of their location, existing conditions and recommendations for protection, and/​or improving their health. He also has a wealth of knowledge about fire maintenance as well as tremendous experience with tree-​related disputes. We would not call anyone else!
