My wife grabbed some sammies from here one day for lunch. I can’t comment on the service or atmosphere since I’ve never been to the shop, but my sandwich was disappointing because the bread was stale. Fresh bread is the cornerstone of a good sandwich. My wife’s bread roll was stale as well making her sandwich equally disappointing. Too bad, cause we love sammies and we’re hoping to have found a good local deli.

This used to be my favorite deli shop in San Ramon. Cheap prices for amazing and packed sandwiches. The staff’s great, and quick. However, the new ownership has changed my views on this place. My sandwich that I used to always get, went up in price. The amazing deal I used to always get is no longer there. Even the sandwich is done differently. The veggies are different than before, and it just doesn’t taste as good. I gave this place 3 chances after the change of ownership, and sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever be going back. Today, I called in my order, and was told it would be ready by a certain time. I got there after the time they told me, and my sandwich wasn’t ready. I waited 15 min AFTER I got there to get my sandwich. They completely forgot about it, and I had to remind them. There were about 5 – 7 people who walked in after me and got their sandwiches before me… The staff is still friendly, but unfortunately, I won’t be going back.

There was a time when I used to go there every day for lunch. It’s run by a delightful lady, Grace, and has this feel of neighborhood restaurant. They remember my preferences(no mayo, etc), and when my company orders, remember to send in a sandwich with that specification. Oh, I just love the folks there.

Nifty mom-and-pop deli type deal. The Dutch crunch was on point. The chips and drink selection are pretty rad too, unexpectedly diverse. Could turn out to be a very dependable, pleasant lunch break staple.

Saw this place one day while eating at Subway and figured I should give it a try. I’m pretty sure I won’t be heading back to subway when in the area after trying this place. Sandwich was great — I had the Chipotle Chicken sandwich, a bag of chips, and a bottle of Dr. Pepper(made with real sugar! Yay!). Friendly service and good eats. I will definitely be back. Glad I spotted this place. I saw they serve breakfast all day — might have to try a midday breakfast burrito the next time.

I recently went here with my girlfriend after she told me this place is really good. I decided to get the California Club, and I have to admit, she was right! It was absolutely delicious. If I were ever in that area I would usually go to Mr. Pickles, but after tasting that sandwich, I now have a new deli spot. The pricing is perfect and they give you a cookie and a pickle that’s included in the sandwich price, which was about $ 7. What a gem to find, and I’m so glad my girl told me about this place! I look forward to my next sandwich :)

As far as Deli’s go, this place is Great and close to me. I’ve had the Chipotle Chicken as well as the California Club. They have great customer service, and the ingredients are fresh. The Chipotle chicken was hot and the sauce is made there. I have yet to try the Side salads that they offer, but I’ll try those next time.

I had lunch at this Deli for the first time today. They have a wonderful menu that includes an incredible selection of meats and breads. The soups are excellent and I recommend you try their chicken noodle soup. The biggest challenge to this eatery is the location is in a busy shopping center which depending on the time of the day makes it very difficult to find a parking place. Matter of fact you need to be very careful that you do not get hit by a vehicle. Overall — a great place to eat but if it is a weekday lunch hour it is more difficult to park here than for a single prop Cessna to land at Chicago O’ Hare Airport during a snow storm… Wow! What a word picture to describe the intensity of the traffic at this location. This is called the Devils Deli because of the parking not because the food is bad.

I live across the street from this place, they make great sandwiches. I would recommend the California Club. Bacon, turkey, and all the fixin’s sandwiched between a super tasty croissant.

I saw this sandwich joint on one of the Rotd’s and decided to give it a try. The location was close proximity to work, and I wanted to try out the Muffeletta Sammie. The sandwich was of the Turkey variety since they give you a Ham or Turkey choice. Traditionally Ham and Salami and olives and cheese would be the toppings. What made it great for me were the black olives with all the melted cheese and of course the deli meat. The Sammie was also accompanied with a pickle and a mini cookie. I also tried the Manhattan which had sauerkraut and corned beef. Both sandwiches had a crunch from the bread which were different types for each Sammie. The service was great and they really care about the sandwiches they make. I came in late on a Saturday right before they closed because they closed an hour earlier, but received great service nonetheless.

Great lunch deal here at Diablo Deli! 7 bucks for a sandwich, cookie, and pickle. I ordered their well-known mufferetta sandwich, which is a New Orleans style sandwich with an olive spread. The meat is ham and salami. The bread is an excellent sourdough embedded with several varieties of seeds. While the sandwich is good and comes at an ideal price, the meat is obviously not prepared in-house, and I doubt the bread is either. It’s important to me when I order a sandwich that I can say«this is something I can’t easily make at home.» I could easily made this at home. If their salami, pastrami, ham etc. was prepared in-house and not by Boars Head than they would receive a higher rating. The pickle was not their own, another notch down. Overall I would come back due to the low price and good combination of flavors. If it were actually their own in-house made food, it would be A LOT better.

Who says ROTDs don’t do any good? They’re meant to be good for the reviewer(in this case, Janelle V), but they can also be good for the business. In this case, the recipient of this ROTD was the first place I thought of when I had to drive in to work today for a long work day, and had to get away for lunch instead of eating my homemade lunch at my desk as usual. So Diablo Deli got my business. They earned it with their food, I tell ya. I read a lot about their Muffaletta: ham and salami, provolone cheese, and a spread of olives on a thick sesame-seed sourdough bun. It sounds good, and it tastes better. It’s not overwhelmed with cheese, it has just the right amount. My only wish is that it was bigger; but then, I can eat more than most people, so never mind.(I started eating the sandwich when I parked the car at the office, and ate quite a bit while Rush Limbaugh was playing on the radio. And I’m actually still eating this sandwich as I write this review, and I’m enjoying every second of it.) And yes, pickle and cookie are included. Now, what about if you want to eat out? It feels and looks like typical cookie-cutter San Ramon. But it also has the chalkboard where they wrote their menu and special of the day. It has the local radio station KKIQ playing. It has the glassy countertop where you can see and choose any salad you’d like. You know, the usual deli stuff. But this usual deli stuff adds a nice personalized touch to what could be a stale dining experience. Bottom line: I want to eat more from Diablo Deli!

This place is crap when it comes to breakfast. Hard ass day old bagels. Just bought a bagel with cream cheese. Tasted like crap, I think I’m still chewing on it. Just a few more steps you can go to Safeway, Starbucks, or even McDonald’s. Think before buying a day old bagel.

The sandwich I choose was pastrami. And oh my mommy was it good. I’m not a pastrami snob but I do know that a non greasy one is the way to go. The service was quick and polite. I would say it’s in the top 3 best pastrami sandwiches I’ve had. Will go again.

To stand out in the sandwich business is hard since there are various delis, fast food chains, and grocery stores that are all selling similar products BUT I was thoroughly impressed by Diablo Deli’s product quality and customer service, I can’t help but bestow five stars! I came here specifically to try their Muffuletta speciality sandwich due to fellow Unilocalers’ high praise of this sandwich! I was intrigued because this sandwich was news to me and the fact that it had a bunch of olives in it(and I love olives) had me sold! You can get your Muffuletta with either turkey/ham/veggies in combination with salami, olive salad, and cheese! To be noted, I believe a traditional muffuletta would be with ham, however, I opted for the turkey upon my server’s recommendation. They also heat up your sandwich for you and this really helps to get the cheese to melt, have the bread be just warm and chewy enough, and have all the meats/olivey flavor goodness come through! The sandwich was super filling too, which really made me like this place even more because I want value for my dolla dolla bills and they definitely provide you with that here. After you pay, they also have ask if you want a complimentary small cookie and pickle! I really love this because even if it may seem like a «small» gesture, it was really the icing on the cake to a delicious meal as the cookie(mine was snickerdoodle) was the perfect ending to my meal! It was just sweet enough and super chewy! All the elements of a delicious cookie, I devoured the cookie to say the least! I also found that the pickle was a good palette cleanser in between bites of my sandwich, Ha-ha. I was also really astounded by their customer service! I was in-and-out in a jiffy, which was really great especially if you have a short lunch break or need to get back to the office asap. The workers were also very accommodating and made sure I was helped within minutes of my arrival! And I was always served with a smile. Positive vibes all around! :) And as I was leaving I even overheard their convos with their regulars and the Diablo Deli crew truly cares about their clientele! Overall, a great lunch spot with a variety of choices, reasonable prices, and great customer service! I will definitely be back to try out some of their other sandwiches and maybe even some of their sides! They don’t just have sandwiches here! They also have various salads(potato salad, i.e.), bagels, etc. for sale too! TIPS. — YES, get the cookie and the pickle in the end. — If you want water too, don’t be afraid to ask. What’s also cool about Diablo Deli is that they prepped for it and have cold waters pre-poured into to-go cups in the fridge for customers. :) Awesomeeee and refreshing! — Parking can get pretty chaotic during the lunch rush, so beware of this and allot for finding parking into your lunch break ritual or whatnot.

These are the best sandwiches! Love their seeded sourdough roll. I love that they give you a pickle and a little cookie with your sandwich. I hate pickles on my sandwich, but love them on the side. I love their potato salad too. Come here in the morning for bagels!

Just went here today with a few coworkers for lunch. Definitely tucked away and would have never thought of going myself had someone not suggested it. I ordered the California Club on Dutch Crunch bread, which was amazing! I was trying to save half of it for my boyfriend to try later, but it was so delicious I couldn’t help but devour it. I love the fact that they give you a free small cookie with your meal, a nice touch. The staff was super friendly, helping me figure out what is good(which is pretty much all). I would definitely come again to try more of their sandwiches and hopefully bring a few more friends along!

Came here to try their Muffaletta, a New Orleans style sandwich where salty and briny minced olives add some extra zing into a ham and salami sandwich. The version at Diablo Deli has the option of turkey or ham, and is served on a seeded sourdough roll. A pretty tasty sandwich, and they gave some nice extras like a pickle and a small cookie. Four stars!
