While the GB Group had been a good company, recent management changes have left the company utterly rudderless. The foreman on a recent Richmond project of about $ 700,000 missed their projected completion date by more than 5 months with few weather delays and no significant change orders. The crew urinated in public, ruined $ 5,000 worth of plant material, walked around talking on their cell phones for most of the day, and even painted over bugs on a front door. Overall the project came out alright but I wouldn’t use the GB Group again.

Well, I can tell for sure now that The G B Group is THEWORST company we’ve ever had to deal with. Our community hired them to repair a balcony. LIttle did we know that we’re getting ourselves into a complete disaster. The«work» they do is far from professional and very VERY sloppy — lots of patching here and there and mismatching materials. In the process they break everything around — a railing on the patio below is completely destroyed, a sprinkler water pipe is broken, along with tree branches and bushes. And, in addition to all that, they come to work whenever they feel like — one/twice a week or sometimes they don’t show up for weeks. Extreme disappointment!

Rating des Ortes: 4 Hercules, CA
I lost my condo in Hercules to a fire last August(total of 4 units gone). It has been an absolute nightmare since then dealing with my HOA, insurance company, etc. It’s been one of the most stressful year of my life. However my HOA did one things right in this whole process and that is to hire The GB Group to rebuild our homes. I am about 6 – 8 weeks away to getting back into my home and thus far I have seriously been so happy with the level of service and attention I have received from this company. But let me make this clear, I can only speak for Gene B. as he’s been my primary contact for this project. He’s seriously like my BFF and my CONTRACTORGOD! He listens to you and your needs, helps put you to ease about the subcontractors and all the issues that arise during a 6 month, 4 unit construction project, and just makes you feel comfortable and excited about all the decisions you have to make. He’s honest, reliable, upfront, and takes the time to explain things to you. If you tell him what you want, if there is a way, then Gene will make it happen. He has single handedly turned this traumatic and demanding situation into a project I should be excited about. If you are looking for a contractor, I highly recommend you going to The GB Group and asking for Gene! He’s been an amazing project manager and I feel so lucky to have him as a partner during this ordeal/experience. He’s a great communicator, very knowledgeable, has a ton of contacts in the Bay Area, and is willing to work with you on every single detail. And trust me when I say every single detail, I mean down to your choice of door knobs. He really values his client relationships and you can tell from the beginning he really cares about making the homeowner happy! The GB Group is super lucky to have Gene on their team and represent their company. Let’s just say I am so relieved and happy that I didn’t have to work with anyone else because I don’t know if any other person would’ve had the patience or wherewithal to deal with such a particular, detail oriented, methodical, customer like me. I swear after having to deal with me and my thousands of emails, phone calls, and meetings, Gene deserves a HUGE raise and a promotion(but only if that means he still gets to work directly with clients). I am saving the last star for when I write another review in July, after I get to see the finished product and move back in. I have no doubt that I will be giving Gene and the GB Group a full 5 stars(and probably more if I could).
