I came to this place about two weeks ago for my first time… I read some reviews online talking about the trails weren’t really kept up real good and that the staging areas were very primitive as well without being kept up either. But what attracted me the most is the fact that there were endless miles of trails AND a kids track. So I went for it. I like that it’s so close to my home, and if you live in the general L.A. vicinity, this is the perfect spot. You get so much out of it it’s crazy… I want to say that even though people do take quads and other UTV vehicles, this place strikes more of a dirk bike heaven… Most of the trails seem to be geared more towards dirt bikes. I mean, I don’t see how some quads will fit in these tracks… Anyway… There are at least two novice trails that I know of. And they are basic with a couple of fun tricky spots, perfect for those of us trying to get the feel and technique down on our bikes… Do these until you get bored of them and then you can move up to the single and double blue(intermediate) diamond trails. These offer more technical turns, drops, jumps and rocky parts. I love these because they’re not«Oh-S***» trails(well, maybe a few spots here and there if you’re still getting your skills down), they are just tons of fun, long trails, you can cruise them at low speeds if you’d like. From there you got the black diamond trails that will take you on even longer rides and over the mountains and through the ridges to other cooler areas… The kids play area is pretty cool. It’s got several turns, a jump or two and a few ruts. I think it could’ve used a couple of straight aways if you ask me, but even without them it’s pretty narly for kids. This is the perfect place for kids(can only ride 90cc or less) to hone in their skills… My kids love it. They’re riding it so much that they want to go out in the open and hit some trails. Which leads me to another section of this«park». If you go all the way up to the 3rd staging area(there are a few entrances before it, but you kinda have to know your way around) and you keep heading past it, you’ll see an entrance on your left hand side. This is what they call the open area. Here is another spot with a few trails, hill dips and just a bunch of random things anyone can come and have fun with. This is one of my kids favorite areas. It’s big enough where you can ride around for a couple of hrs with hitting too many spots too many times. Here you can always practice and have fun with several technical areas. There are couple of hill climbs that are rocky, perfect for getting used to picking your line while riding these. I’d say this area is perfect for beginners and intermediate level riders. Mostly because not a ton of people come here(at least not that I’ve seen all times I’ve been here), and the people that you do see are beginners and kids most of the time… From here you can hit some intermediate trails that are really cool and not to bad for those who are ready for a challenge. So, all and all, the trails are awesome. Plenty of areas for novices to learn at, including track just for kids… And of course you got your more challenging black diamond stuff… I only have two issues with this place…1) The staging areas are a really messed up… There are a ton of cracks on the ground and very very rocky. I mean, this isn’t really that big of a deal, all things considered. But really, they could really flatten out this area a little more. There are a bunch riders coming in and out and kids trying to ride across it, but the area is so so rocky that you have to be careful. I’ve seen«experienced» riders just topple over because their tire got stuck in a crack by accident, and it’s areal task driving a big trailer across thing. You gotta go ultra slow or you’ll be bouncing around like a crazy looney… Which brings me to a slightly less of an issue, but still important nontheless… The kids track… The kids track is really really cool… But the tires that outside the perimeter are all over the place or there isn’t enough of them. I mean, the people that are supposed to keep this area up to date completely ignore this place.(the people that work here are one of the biggest issue here). It seems like no one’s cleaned this are up in a long time. There are a ton of glass bottles all over the place. One kids brought out at least two of them. They can at least fix the tires to make sure the boundaries within the track are clear and it keeps the kids inside instead of going over the tires when they crash into them. I spent a good deal of time trying to fix this track as best as I could in my last visit. I don’t mind since my kids ride it, but really, it’s not my job to do that. As far as I know we pay these people to maintain these grounds for us when we pay all of those fines and fees at the DMV and for that stupid yearly pass… Beware the people that work here, are a bunch of lazy bitter useless rangers who will harass you.

Excellent close to Los Angeles adventure spot. My husband and I come here about once a month to off road in our UTV. Not only are the facilities maintained, but the trails and the stunning scenery add to the joy of the location. It also doesn’t hurt that each time we venture out there are only maybe five to ten other people. Excited to go back for our next adventure. Hopefully next time I won’t flip our commander.

I belong to a Jeep club and we have gone here a few times and been happy. There are a large amount of trails to explore. Ranging in difficulties. If you make a left at the first staging area and drive for 5 minutes it goes into this beautiful canyon that has a stream along part of the trail. There are three staging areas with restroom facilities. No running water though. The toilets are basically a port a potty in a building. There are a couple of those campground style BBQ’s in the first staging area. When you first enter there is a little fenced off section with rocks that you can play on. This place gets pretty crowded on the weekends so take it slow around corners. The rangers here do check for the Adventure pass if you are parking and riding a motorcycle. They are very friendly though.

Only about 30 – 40 min from Los Angeles. This place was great for a quick day of Motorcycle dirt bike riding. just be sure to get your Adventure Pass before you go. Its the parking permit that you’ll need to buy before you trek up there. You only need it per every car that you are parking at the Staging Area. You can purchase it at this little store on Sierra Hwy just before The café. I can’t remember the name of the grocery store but check the hours before you decide to go. The rangers do in fact check if you have it. They also check your bikes for spark arresters so that your bike won’t start any forest fires. Here is more information about Rowher Flats.
