Went after a beach trip for dinner. Very yummy! We had the grilled cheese and original schnapper dog– both were excellent. I got chili on the side to dip my fries in, but the chili wasn’t very good. Searing outside but inside is standing tables only.

I remember this being a casual, cool, fun, good food place. It seems to have lost a lot of its charm over the last few years. The kid(beard) who took our order seemed to be having a bad day, or just didn’t want to be there. I felt like we were bothering him. The fries were good but undercooked. I just don’t remember getting this vibe the last time we came. Oh well, good hot dog and that’s all I really went there for anyway.

Hotdogs were ok, sauce doesn’t have a lot of flavor. Seems like it’s missing a spice. But the weiners are natural casing & grilled. The fries come in ginormous servings, so beware! Save your $ and go off the island.

The Grouper was delicious and huge! The three piece could really be shared especially if you want ice cream too! The chicken strips… I know, but that’s what my teen wanted, didn’t look so great but she ate them. Fries are pretty good, homemade coleslaw super yummy however the portion is very small but the fish portions more than made up for it! Only drawback is there’s no sit down seating inside and only a few tables on the side in between two buildings so can’t really feel a breeze. It’s shaded now but may not be later. Going back in for ice-cream now!!! Looks yummy

Outrageously overpriced! The special today was $ 945 for a polish and fries? Was this polish meat imported today? I live in Chicago and you can get a great dog or polish almost anywhere. Charging over $ 6 for a polish combo is pushing it. This special didn’t even include a drink! I think they add a $ 5 tourist tax here! The worst part is the hot dog and Polish I had wasn’t even good, the bun was too big and the char dog wasn’t really charred. I know char dogs having eaten at some great hot dog grill joints in Chitown! The burger was nothing special, of course over priced as well. I would recommend on passing on this place and saving some money. Go buy some Viennas at publix and grill yourself some Polishes, I guarantee they will taste better than the ones cooked here! The Costco $ 1.50 special for a polish and drink is even better than the Polish here. Taste, quality and cost! I’ll continue my journey and try cheeseborger cheeseborger tomorrow.

Best dogs ever!!! The ice cream is really good too! My husband and I stayed in Sanibel for our honeymoon and of all the places we ate, this was the best! Better than the other fancier restaurants!

I love this place… Or I did! You can’t help but feel nostalgic for the classic dog stand. I’ve eaten here 30 times over the years. This season, it’s taken a turn for the worse. After a 30 minute wait with NO food being served to anyone, I heard from the cashier; ‘Good food takes time Do you want your food raw What… Do you think we’re just standing around?’ —- as 4 employees were completely standing around doing NOTHING! Really? I am 99% sure that they ran out of fries or forgot to turn on the frier or something… But everyone was quiet and kept their cards to their chest?!? So… After 45 minutes of waiting we got cold dogs and burgers but piping hot fries without salt! Next visit… Only slightly less comical but still the food was lacking its previous pizazz. Oh well… I’ll try again next year. Want to love it?!

Always great food. Ordered takeout — got the fish sandwich, a burger, and chicken wings and all we amazing! I would recommend schnappers hots to anyone visiting the area, and get the grouper sandwich — best item on the menu!

Say the sign and went in for a hot dog with my group of 7. Place was very clean for a hot dog joint. Took the order quickly and food came out timely. I had the polish hot dog with all the toppings. My crew had burgers to grouper sandwiches and fries to onion rings. All were better then expected. Was $ 85 dollars for all of us. I think it was a little expensive but there were 7 of us. It is a good fun stop and recommended. We came back and got some ice cream. I think we were being served by the owner. He gave us a bunch of samples and was very friendly. Very good.

VERYFRESH! 4th time here in 2 weeks. Perfect lunch spot. Nice little patio with picnic tables. If there is no empty table, just find spaces at a table already occupied. Great way to meet new people. The fries are out of this world. We’ve had dogs, chicken, grouper. Everything is great. FRESH!

We stopped here to get a quick snack for my kiddos. They have a huge selection of Ice cream. We got a HUGE bag of french fries that were amazing after a day of beach going. We will definitely stop in again.

My wife loved this place, which surprised me. I thought the dogs were good, but nothing special. I assumed they were special, high quality dogs, but they didn’t seem that way. Creative and interesting toppings? Yup. For a casual meal with the kids, its a good bet. Not sure I need to go back more than once per trip though. Solid, but not special.

Stopped here for lunch on the way back from the beach, and had some of the best food! We got the foot long hot dog, a cheeseburger with the works, and a chicken greasy sandwich, and they were all delicious! The burger was one of the best I’ve had in a while, and the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. Service was friendly and quick! I would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area for a quick bite!

Tried this place out because it looked like a cute mom and pop place. Their fries are amazing and everything on the menu looked good. The portions are pretty big and the prices reasonable. I ended up getting the Italian sausage and fries. It was well worth the stop and looking forward to going back and getting ice cream!!!

The dogs are the way to go here at Schnapper’s. There is something for everyone. I have had the burger, which they say they hand make daily, it was pretty good. The wings are small and dry, I’d skip those. The fries are fresh cut and really yummy. Try some free samples of ice cream while you wait!

In need of a quick and convenient place to grab a lye lunch on our way back to the other coast, and Schnapper’s fit the bill nicely. The food is straightforward and simple — hotdogs, burgers, fish sandwiches, grilled cheeses, fries and the like. No frills, and pretty cheap. If you check in on Unilocal, you get a free drink. I had a fish sandwich, which was really tasty. The fish filet was fried(no surprise), but the grouper was light and flaky. With a little malt vinegar on top, it was a perfect lunch after a day in the hot sun. The fries were also good — skin-on, and apparently hand-cut, they were fried perfectly — crispy and not soggy. I added a dousing of malt vinegar and was immediately transported back to childhood vacations. Always a good memory for me. If you’re looking for a simple, all-American meal with no frills, that’s sure to please everyone, be sure to stop at Schnapper’s.

The last stop on the way off island — can’t forgo a Schnapper’s while I’m in town. The hot dogs remain outstanding, and the fries are no slouch either. The guy behind the counter is jokey and patient, and the prices are manageable. A super cute koozie and a T-shirt for the husband back home(2.50 and 10.95 respectively — less expensive and more fun than anything I’ll find in the airport). It really is awesome, and is completely worth it. Yumyumyum.
