La Poblana is a little restaurant with very tasty food! Can not go wrong with hand made tortillas. Portions are well worth the price.

I’ve driven by this place for quite some time and haven’t seen too many patrons. First time eating here at lunch on a weekday, and it’s a keeper. Salsa was on point! Spicy, fresh, with roasted peppers. Seated myself, and grabbed a menu from the front as there was only one waitress working the front. The Mexican food here is superb. Authentic flavors, soda served in glass bottles just like in Mexico, fresh-made juices, this tiny gem has Mexican food written all over it! Being my first time, I asked the waitress, what the recommended dish was: chicken mole. Folks, the chicken mole is off the hook! By far the best I’ve ever had. Served with fresh hand-made tortillas. Service was a tad slow, but there was only one of her and she was working very hard the best she could. So I’m not going to dock any points for that. Waitress spoke very little English but had a home world light about her that made me feel I was not in USA. Definitely something I’ve not experienced here in Santa Ana, go figure. Mole was the the thick type, VERY flavorful and tasty. It was as aromatic as it was tasty. You could taste the spices and the deep dark chocolate. Chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender. Refried beans lacked cotija cheese but that’s just my preference. The steamed rice came with diced carrots and hints of garlic which made the food even more pleasant. Feels like definite home cooking here. The cemitas as looked good too, next time!
