I would love to finally try this place out if it was ever open! I have gone by 3 times now and it’s always closed. How do you even have a business? Please open up with normal hours so I can give you my money.

Horrible service. We stopped by to check out this place and based on review and I am still in shock it has 42⁄2 stars! First of all the chairs were still up despite being open since 7am. Unfortunately, because I had to put down my own chair to sit, I crushed my pinky toe while doing so. I was so angry and now I wish I had taken a picture. The cashier was dry and didn’t even bother to make suggestions. He was aware it was our first time since we were questioning the menu items and he had no idea what the difference was between the regular breakfast burrito and special burrito. He looked lost and bothered that we asked. As the cashier he is the first point of contact and with his«I don’t give a f attitude» you will lose customers before you make them. We were each going to try a sandwich but he was a complete turn off. Plus they only have the name of the sandwiches not the list of ingredients so when the cashier gives you a stare because you ask basic questions you stop asking. Sadly, we opted for a cold sandwich we built since he had no interest in recommending any menu item. The sandwich was the worst I ever had. Requested toasted bread he said no it’s cold we still requested it toasted and he said fine. We asked for no pickles, Swiss cheese and vinegar. They gave us extra pickles, conveniently left out the cheese and gave us oil instead of vinegar. The bread was not toasted instead stale and hard. Please beware of the the cold slaw. It is not serve fresh. It was soggy and the dressing on it had bubbles. It tasted like it sat for the entire week. The dressing on it look brownish. Being a coleslaw fanatic I know it always has a slight crunch even if it sits for 2 days. This one was mush and unbearable to swallow. To make matters worse the prep had no gloves. We live in GG and did not mind the drive because it all look so tasty. I am in disbelief that we paid $ 9.00 for a disgusting sandwich made the way the cashier decided. Seriously, what a waste of a drive. Never again. Will not return nor recommend this establishment to anyone. PS. If you pay for avocado you will only get a smear. Pathetic!!!

Came here on a my lunch, the pictures alone will bring anyone in. The staff were very nice and helped me pick out my veggi sandwich. It’s was roasted tomatoes, eggplant, and bell-pepper with cheese and avocado on squaw. Amaaaaazing. It was the perfect balance of roasted sweet and savory-ness. Sand which comes with a small side and a cookie. They look like they have something for everyone!

To be honest, my experience with this place was pretty bad. What made it so bad you might wonder? 1) They completely mixed up the orders from half of all the people that ordered while I was there. 2) The vietnamese woman at the registry, as well as the one putting the orders together continued to yell at each other the entire time and were obviously both confused. At one point, one of them even ran after a group of corporate workers that had just left with their to-go orders because apparently she had put the wrong things in their brown to-go bags. They were definitely pissed. 3) I waited for my roast beef with mushroom sandwich for more than 25 minutes. Yep, that’s right. It was over 25 minutes. 4) Sandwich was cold when I tried it and it’s supposed to be a warm sandwich. 5) I noticed that the cooks didn’t wear any gloves. Call me crazy, but that was kind of grossing me out. 6) My sandwich looked nothing like the ones in the pictures here on Unilocal.I totally forgot to take a snapshot and am debating to go back just for that. The only positive was that the cookie that they added to the lunch special that I ordered was really good. I’m a sucker for Snickerdoodles though.

The sign on the door states«Enter Please and Exit Pleased» I was definitely pleased :) got«The Tur-Bacon Avocado» lettuce wrapped. It was a good healthy size and super delicious! Everything tastes fresh and crisp veggie toppings. I got a pretty boring sandwich compared to what I saw people around me eating, but all of them looked yummy!

What a great little shop. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the lady I spoke with was really nice! Not sure if she was the owner or not, but she gave me a good recommendation! I really liked my waffle burgee. So tasty. So messy in a good way. Also tried the Brazilian lemonade. Liked the yogurty lemonade like drink. I would definitely come back!!!

very bad experience. We were really excited to eat here based on what we saw on Unilocal and specifically went in for the waffle bun. Our experience was so bad that I am literally writing this review in the car on our drive home. We walked in and the«menu» is on the wall on a chalk board. This is a cute idea, except the«menu» just lists the names of sandwiches and not what is in them. There was no staff available to help us decipher to sandwich names. So we resorted to Unilocal pictures to help us decide what to order. We decided on «the ultimate patty melt» and«the bacon avocado breaded chicken sandwich,» which is listed on the menu as BA. We wanted both sandwiches on the waffle bun we had gone there for. We waited at the register to order and the staff was clearly flustered(NOT busy, there were only 2 parties ahead of us waiting for their food). Our entire interaction with the cashier gets 0 stars. Extremely poor communication skills, and he was honestly very abrasive when we were just asking very basic questions. First, I asked what was on the ultimate party melt. We were told«thousand island, avocado, and tomato.» This seemed different than the picture we had seen on Unilocal. However, that picture said they added pork belly, so we decided to add pork belly as well. When I asked for the waffle bun the boy taking our order said«it doesn’t come on that.» Since we had gone there specifically for the waffle bun, I asked what DOES come on that. He snapped at me and said they are too busy and they can’t make the waffle bun. What??? I understand that sometimes restaurants run out of things but being TOOBUSY to make your signature item and the main attraction of your restaurant is ridiculous and horrible customer service! We ended up ordering the two sandwiches on different kinds of bread since we were already there. I had checked in on Unilocal and wanted to use my «free signature drink» coupon. The boy behind the register said that would also«take a long time» and they only had 1 of the drink options left(strawberry lemonade). Honestly, I was so annoyed by the time we got our food I don’t think it would be right for me to rate the quality of the actual food we ate. I already had a bad taste in my mouth so to speak. I will say the«ultimate patty melt» came out drenched in thousand island. It had a hamburger patty, and some sort of other brisket like meat on it. Upon asking, I learned that this brisket meat was the«pork belly» we had added to the sandwich. We ate only half of each sandwich. Seems like this is a family run spot that got really good Unilocal reviews and cannot manage the resulting business. Really disappointing. We decided we will give them another try at the end of the summer. Hopefully, they have ironed out their operational issues, improved customer service skills, hired additional staff and have updated the menu to include ingredients of each sandwich by this time. I really wanted to like this place and went in expecting to love it. Kind of a bummer that it was such a bad experience.

Finally the experience has surpassed the hype! Everyone has been talking about Sandwich Society and I finally tried it. And yes, the sandwiches/décor is as photogenic as seen on here. I had the breaded chicken club. SOOOOOO good! Very big, fresh veggies, and the chicken was freshly breaded(you can tell it wasn’t frozen). My friend had the stuffed philly cheesesteak and said it was delicious. The sandwich came with a side, I got the pasta salad. Was great! Highly suggest!

It’s hard not to tell people about this place because it’s so good. I had the pork belly sandwich and it might go down as one of those historic must have sandwiches. The ones that go on the list with Langers pastrami, Bay city delis Godmother, Philipes French dip and the pork belly from the sandwich society. It’s a perfect combination of slow cooked pork belly, tender, and flavored just right with soy and sugar and spices. Topped with fresh pickled cabbage and red onions on a fresh Lee’s liked baguette. This sandwich has the perfect ratio of bread to protein and slight vinegar bite from the cabbage and onions cuts through the pork belly perfectly. These sandwich are not cheap, but so worth it!

My former business partner and I were talking about the old Oscar’s Deli on First Street, and how we hadn’t been there since we moved away from our office. Having a hankering for a sandwich, we decided to venture over to our old stomping grounds to grab a bite. Surprise. This place is now The Sandwich Society. Several of the same great sandwiches from the old joint are still here, along with a lot of new additions. In the face of so many new items, I decided to try something tried and true – the Italian. It also happened to be a lunch special(and came with a side salad, cookie, and drink for less than $ 10). It was a new version to an old favorite – and just as good. A variety of great meats on a very fresh tasting loaf of bread. Can’t really ask for more. Except excellent sides. And the sides never disappoint. Their potato salad is still fantastic and their cookies are nice and chewy. Definitely coming back, and I’m excited to try some of their new stuff. That patty melt and turkey/bacon/avocado are calling my name.

Went for lunch on a weekday. It wasn’t overly crowded and the cashier lady was friendly and ready to answer questions and offer suggestions if needed :) do yourself a favor though and skip the menu on the wall, go straight for the written ones near the register, you’ll have a better idea of what’s in every sandwich because they actually include descriptions: P Brazilian Lemonade — if you like sweet lemonade and if you like yogurt, get thiiiis. It’s kinda sorta amazing. Potato Salad — I had asked the friendly cashier lady if the potato salad had a strong mustard flavor and she assured me that it didn’t and she didn’t lie: D it was soooo good, like«do you sell it in a gallon size so I can take you home and keep you in my fridge» good! Pork Belly Banh Mi — you vex me dear pork belly sammich. You were so delicious and all I want to do is praise you; that melt in your mouth pork belly, that flavorful garlic aioli, and CHEESE!!! Unfortunately you weren’t complete :(I had ordered you with no jalapenos, but when I got you home I had found out that there weren’t any carrots, daikon, or cucumbers in you either. Sadface. At the end of the day I reeeeeally enjoyed my meal, and at only 8 dollars for all that plus a cookie it was a good deal! just make sure to check your to go orders before you leave the restaurant :)

Best vietnamese iced coffee I think I’ve ever had. The special breakfast burrito was an absolute BEAST. My partner had a bubble waffle breakfast sandwich, and that thing was so tasty we had to order the pork belly bubble mi just to get more of those bubbles. Friendly staff, gigantic menu, and it’s 1.5 miles from my house. I’m already buying a bigger pair of pants in preparation for my weight gain. Eat here NOW.

This is a quick & super casual dining establishment. Not a full service restaurant. Great for b-fast or lunch. Upon entry you’ll see a ginormous menu chalk board to your left. I suggest picking up their printed menu to look through all the variety cuz kinda hard to scan quickly through a wall-full of food. You then place your order with the cashier & then find a spot to grub. Not a place for big groups. If they get busy, they call out your name & you pick up at their counter. If not busy, they bring your food out to you. Minimal décor but food is what shines here. I’ve only been here on the weekends for lunch — so had no problem finding parking or seating. I’ve only been here one time, but I am already looking forward to when I can come back. Located in a small plaza in Santa Ana. Not the most appealing visually but not bad either. It is next to lots of businesses so I understand why the location is where it is. The prices are unbeatable for what you get. Very fair and filling! We got two different types of sandwiches. First was the breakfast puffle sandwich which had egg, cheese sausage & bacon. The waffle /puffle bread was amazing! Perfect texture and fluff. It was a little hard to eat but just use the fork and knife to make life easier. With a touch of syrup, this sandwich is a breakfast delight that past expectations. It also came with a side of fruit and filled me up. On to the pork belly! Wow! Served with a side and a cookie all for $ 8. The packed sandwich is served on great bread that holds the sandwich well together. As for the meat itself, I do not think it is pork belly. The meat was good but it was not as fatty as pork belly typically is. For our side we got the pasta salad and it was nothing too special but not bad either. The cookie was a nice addition to accommodate to my sweet tooth. Make sure to check into Unilocal for your free specialty drink. I got the sparkling strawberry lemonade. It was tasty & free, no complaints here! Summary — Price: 6 star Food: 4 star Location: 3.5 star Service: 5 star

Bubble Waffle for breakfast? SOLD. These little egg puffs always brings back memories of my childhood, so it’s almost impossible for me to not want to order items with them. I came in on the weekends around 1pm, and even though they said breakfast is served only till 11am, they said I could still order it! YAY! The Bubble Waffle Breakfast Sandwich is a sweet and savory combo, deliciously stacked together with a perfectly fried egg in the middle. You can drizzlethe maple syrup all over the sandwich, but I chose to just dip the bubble waffle bites since I didn’t want it to be too sweet. It comes with a small side of fruit too, double yay! Make sure to check-in and get a free drink with your order. Their sparkling strawberry lemonade is refreshingly good! I’d definitely come back to try other items :)

Service: Employee was very aware of customers coming and going and was eager to offer assistance and a menu. Location/atmosphere: Wasn’t too crowded and there is plenty of seating. Product: The pricing for the sandwiches were reasonable and they also came with a cookie and the choice of a side. I got the porkbelly on a baguette that ended up being a sort of porkbelly banh mi. I also got the spicy Hawaiian burger. The porkbelly sandwich was better than the spicy Hawaiian. My two sides were fruit and pasta salad. The baguette was nice and fresh tasting and the flavor of the pork belly worked well with the vegetables. The spicy Hawaiian was really messy and the flavors kind of just merged together. The slaw and pineapple gave off a lot of excess liquid which made a pool and soaked the bun. The sides were whatever but the fruit was the better of the two. GET the porkbelly. PASS on the spicy Hawaiian. Check in perks: If you check in you get a free signature drink. Got the strawberry lemonade and the Brazilian lemonade. The Brazilian one is unique and creamy. It may not be for everyone. To be safe go for the strawberry. If you’re adventurous go for the Brazilian.

Another day, another sandwich — well at least every day that I spent with the BF this week was like that. I must say, the sandwich society has a lot of potential! The cashier — which seemed like the owner was very sweet and personable. She’s great at making you feel welcomed and definitely has spunk that can make your day a little bit brighter. I will vouch for ‘The Pork Belly’! If you come here and that’s all you get, you will be in good hands. Don’t change anything about it — you love that dutch crunch? Well too bad, eat it with the baguette — you will NOT regret it. Crunchy crispy and light baguette to compliment that tender, flavorful pork belly with the perfect amount of pickled veggies smothered in delicious sweet mayo — can you feel it? That orgasm in your mouth! MMM, can I has another one pls. The boyfriend — being the less superior between the two of us(lol jk in case he reads this), ordered a so-so sandwich. The turkey and bacon something. it was the last one on the specialties list. It’s a decent sandwich — but nothing to write home about. Being a fan of the dutch crunch we opted to exchange the original bread choice to the dutch crunch. The cashier warned us that the other bread was ordered specifically for this sandwich and it was VERY good. But after a few sections of contemplation, we decided — we do what we want. Not sure if it was a great idea since the sandwich was just mediocre. But my pork belly sandwich was so good, I almost did not care. Note-worthy things: sandwiches comes with a ‘deli-side’, I chose cucumber and the bf chose pasta salad. Cucumber mixed with some tomatoes — nothing to get crazy about, but it was a refreshing addition to my lunch. I like it. And because you’re so awesome for choosing The Sandwich Society for lunch, you get a cookie. HOLLA’ I love free things, although I didn’t eat the cookie it’s the thought that counts. ALSO — best free thing, if you check in on Unilocal you get to choose a FREE small specialty drink. UHM, sparkling strawberry lemonade — SOMUCHYUM. So delish I feel a little guilty that it was free. Anyways — order The Pork Belly.

I’m always on the hunt for tasty lunch spots near my work. I think I just found another. Gave Sandwich Society a try today after seeing the great reviews. Came in a few minutes before closing, but the entire staff was very welcoming(I think it’s family owned). I ordered the Roast Beef with Mushrooms with a side of macaroni salad. The quality was excellent — the baguette was perfectly toasted, the mushrooms were thick, the cheese was evenly melted, and the roast beef was super tender. Put them all together and you have yourself a great sandwich. The macaroni salad was solid too(as solid as macaroni salad can be). The staff also threw in a complimentary cookie, which was a really nice gesture. Sandwich, side, and a cookie for around $ 8? I’ll take it all day. The portion size wasn’t huge, but I found myself pretty full as I left. Definitely got bang for my buck. One more thing… Vietnamese coffee! Cheaper than a cup of Starbucks and infinitely better. Get it here. I’ll definitely be back. I’m looking forward to trying a number of other items as well!

The inside of the little shop has seating for maybe 15 people, and is very cute and hipster-y. The menu is on a large chalkboard running the full side of the wall has a ton of breakfast and lunch options. I was a little overwhelmed so I asked the very nice person at the register what their most popular items were. He suggested the pork belly sandwich which is served banh mi style. I’m not sure if I just missed it on the board, but I was surprised to find out it came with a deli side of coleslaw, potato salad, or pasta salad, and a cookie. Ordered it to go and had it back at the office. The sandwich was messy but delicious. The picked vegetables were a nice contrast to the pork belly, which was deliciously marinated and fatty in a good way. They could probably ease up a little on the mayo and sauce(this is coming from a girl from the midwest so I love mayo) since it makes the bread a little soggy. This is not the type of sandwich you can eat gracefully infront of co-workers. However, it’s perfect for eating back at your desk, drowning out sorrows of writing another legal brief. The potato salad and cookie were nothing extraordinary, but it was nice to have it round out the meal, which was reasonably priced. Now if they figured out how to make Mendocino-type sides(curried cous cous), then I’d really be in trouble. Overall, it’s probably a blessing(for my stomach) and a curse(for my wallet and healthy eating) to have this place so close by. But fortunately it does look like they have healthier options. Either that or I’ll have to make a few more laps around the block during my lunch break before indulging in another pork belly sandwich. Looking forward to coming back to this place and trying out more things.
