You know that feeling when you try to convey to someone your idea«vision» and they just misinterpret it and you’re left feeling boggled because you were pretty specific and perhaps even showed images and used the most detailed of words to explain your look? It sucks! Well, recently I used the services of Todd Matthew Clapp Photography. I’ve seen his work in art shows in the past and when I learned he moved back to Orange County from SF I phoned him about a photo shoot. I needed some shots done for my handmade upcycled jewelry line Le Modern Trinket. I recently had a friend who is an artist make a ton of upcyceld driftwood jewelry tree stands. A fun project for him that he decided for me to resale for him on my Etsy page and shows I do. I normally shoot my own pieces with my decent Canon but I wanted these driftwood pieces to be done in better lighting and background. I do mine the DIY way. Long story short I contacted Todd who was not only super sweet but knew what I wanted. He came to my studio to pick up the pieces along with my jewelry that he was going to shoot as props on the driftwood jewelry tree stands. I explained in words what I wanted and it’s rather simple. I never expect a genie to pop out of a lamp. I just have this idea, vision have you and BAM he did it. In less than a week the photos were edited and I had a copies of them. He got what I wanted and the best part was that I didn’t have to email him, text him nor phone him to put a rush on it! Nor, was I disappointed with the end results. Chatting with him I learned that he has been a professional photographer for 13 years with a degree in photography. Obviously a professional. Certainly not flighty or flakey. When I set the date for the pick up of my trinkets and the driftwood pieces he was at my studios to pick them up and we discussed in depth what I was wanting. I was so excited on the results that I scheduled him for another shoot for Le Modern Trinket and my other business(hair) . I’ve used many photographers in the past and he is certainly amazing! He has been busy updating is new site. He made a different one from the one that I first contacted him through.
