Dr. Chandler and her staff are caring, knowledgeable and professional. She has been my surgeon and podiatrist for 4+ years. I am rough on my feet: I jog, do stadium steps and hit the gym 5 plus nights a week and she has been valuable in keeping me on my toes! Through surgeries, bunions, orthotics, plantar fasciitis… you name it. It’s a great practice!

I needed to get a new pair of orthotics made because I lost one from my old pair. I was initially drawn to her practice due to all the stellar reviews she received on Unilocal.Thought I definitely couldn’t go wrong with her…
Before my first actual office visit, I was rescheduled three times (red flag). She seemed nice enough during my first visit and came across as caring and knowledgeable – HA! She did my mold casting and told me to come back two weeks later for the orthotic fitting. They rescheduled me two more times after that. The last time was an hour before my appointment. Dr. Chandler had apparently left for an «emergency.»
After A LOT of arguing with Fabiola (the receptionist), I insisted on picking up my orthotics that same day. She said I was breaking policy and threatened that I wouldn’t be able to get another appointment with Dr. Chandler for a long time if there were any issues. Since I have had orthotics made before, I knew it was perfectly in my rights to get them without seeing a doctor (as that was what my last podiatrist did). We finally agreed over the phone that the appointment was cancelled, and I would only be going in to pick up my orthotics.
When I showed up at their office, I told them I was just there to pick up my orthotics. To my surprise, Dr. Chandler was suddenly not at an «emergency» and Fabiola said, «Dr. Chandler just really wants to see you.» I reluctantly followed her into the office where Dr. Chandler held my orthotics hostage. Unsure of what was happening, I obliged when she told me to get my two pairs of shoes from my car for a quick fitting, and I DO mean quick. To maximize efficiency, she invented a new method of orthotic fitting – put one orthotic in the left shoe of Pair A and the other one in the right shoe of Pair B. Now, as you may have guessed, this felt extremely weird. But hey, I don’t have a medical degree, so I must not know what I’m talking about. I told her it felt weird as I walked around and instead of figuring out the obvious problem, she said to come back if there were any other issues. She ran out of the office before I could even take my shoes off – I guess to her «emergency.» Our entire interaction lasted two minutes.
As I was walking out the door, my you-didn’t-pay-a-copayment-and-this-will-screw-you-over-later sixth sense was tingling. Determined to not make the same mistake, I turned and asked the receptionist if there was a copayment. To my surprise (this office is just full of surprises!), Dr. Chandler had billed this as a doctor’s visit, despite our agreement over the phone.
When I got home and was able to try out my orthotics the conventional way and not feel rushed, I noticed that the orthotics were WAY too big for my ballerina flats. I had ordered orthotics for flats, these orthotics were for athletic shoes.
I called back the next day and told Fabiola the issue. She said, «See! This is why we said you need to come in for a doctor’s visit but you didn’t want one, and now we got problems» (and I don’t think we can solve them). Ummm… but excuse me. You FORCED me into a doctor’s visit and charged me for one. If they hadn’t tricked me into a doctor’s visit, then I’d have to give it to them and do the slow clap. But now the problem is they charged me for a doctor’s visit that didn’t really happen and they missed a major issue because they were more worried about getting paid than making sure the patient was taken care of.
Fabiola and I exchanged a loud train of expletives as I promised to file a complaint to the medical board for her unsound and unethical practice. It was then that she got the okay from Dr. Chandler to bring me in for another appointment, at their expense. When I showed up for my appointment, I made sure to be polite and greeted the doctor when she came in. But the first thing that came out of her mouth as she came in was, «Don’t think I’m seeing you because of your threat. I am not caving in to your threat at all.»
After hashing out our differences, we went through the motions of the appointment and I showed her the obvious problem she had missed. To ensure that the orthotics would fit in my flats next time, I agreed to let her send my flats with the orthotics back to the manufacturer. About a week later, I get the same pair of orthotics back, but slightly shaven. Not surprisingly, they still don’t fit in my flats. I went back again and THIS time, I brought my remaining orthotic from my previous pair and had them send it to the manufacturer. And FINALLY, two weeks after that, I get what I had ordered. To give you a better time frame (not counting the three initial cancellations), from my first appointment until when I received the correct orthotics, it took SEVEN weeks! And to think I was all excited because I finally have PPO and didn’t have to wait for HMO doctors to free up anymore.
Save yourself months of headache. Don’t go to Dr. Chandler. She only cares about your money, not your well-​being.

Dr. Chandler has the best «chair-​side» manner of any doctor I know. She is pleasant and knowledgeable, and explains things clearly. She answers all your questions, and when you have your appointment with her, it does not feel like she is rushing through it to get to his next appointment. I have been seeing Dr. Chandler for about a year about a big toe problem that required specialized surgery that nobody in the area did. I knew that I would get good care and be treated very well.
One thing I really admire about Dr. Chandler is her commitment to her profession. She is actively involved in the clinical world of podiatry and stays on top of new developments in foot and ankle treatments.
If you are looking for a great podiatrist for foot or ankle problems, go see Dr. Chandler – she’s the best!

Mae Chandler has been my podiatrist since June 2014 and I couldn’t be happier. After a lackluster experience with another local podiatrist who didn’t really seem to care whether I healed or not (for bilateral Achilles tendonitis), I took a chance on Dr. Chandler even though she had recently started her career. What’s most impressive is her earnestness in wanting to both solve the underlying problem as well address current symptoms, taking her time to understand the issue and thoughtfully guiding the patient to recovery, offering options along the way. She followed up with me on her own time to make sure I was progressing and able to do my at-​home exercises, and most helpfully wrote a letter to my insurance company urging for an MRI (which they agreed to do after several denials).
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Chandler to anyone interested in exploring known or possible issues with their feet or ankles, and wanting the correct care for improvement and recovery. I especially recommend her for athletes or those with exercise-​related injuries. I ended up buying orthotics & some new shoes, which Dr. Chandler was happy to look at to ensure they were not counterproductive to my healing and future health of my feet. I ended up learning a lot about my feet/​ankles, they feel great, and I do not hesitate to recommend Dr. Chandler. She is with a new firm now, Foot and Ankle Concepts, and is conveniently located near Cottage Hospital.
