Love this place! The turkey and bacon sandwich comes with real turkey, not processed deli meat. The bacon is crispy and delicious.

Delicious! We had the Caprese sandwich a vegetarian sandwich and a turkey and bacon sandwich. All three were amazing. Delicious grilled veggies with goat cheese on my vegetarian were a perfect combination. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks again Unilocal for steering us in the right direction.

I ordered two breakfast burritos, one bacon and egg and the other #5 with steak. Both were extremely good. The kitchen is spotless and both ladies are delightful — outside eating are is also kept clean Fully recommend you eat here as you will not be disappointed

Went to L’s because we’re staying close and the 5 stars. We went over and ordered a couple burritos and sat in the patio area on the side of the building, by the parking lot for the neighboring businesses. They set the patio up for us and the kitchen wasn’t quite set up so we waited a minute. The burritos were excellent. My wife got the #1 Ranchero, I got it with chorizo($ 1 up charge). Hers came with salsa rojo, mine came with verde– both good. While we were sitting there we realized that one of the parking spaces in the lot next to our seats had a piano in it! Okay… Then a guy pulls into the lot on a motorcycle, hops off, lights up a cigarette, takes off his leather jacket and sits down and starts playing! I guess that’s why this is the Funk Zone! I go to take our plates back in and see on the door that it was opening time. We had showed up half an hour before opening time! That’s why the kitchen and patio weren’t set up! I can’t believe they served us. I thanked everyone profusely and walked out to the sound of live piano music. Great breakfast experience!

Amazing food, amazing service, literally the hole in the wall of Santa Barbara! Super small and cozy but amazing to be a take out place, there’s a little patio area which is pretty cool. A must if you are in town

This place has incredible food. We came here this summer and then again this week. Every bite was great. My entire group loved their meals and they have a great variety of dishes including great kids food and desserts. It is very affordable and the taste makes it even more worth it. They are also very flexible and will make you just about anything or any variation of food.

Absolutely amazing food! I was visiting Santa Barbara for a few days and we came 3 days in a row. I came here with a party of 11 and they served us all very fast. Everyone absolutely loved their food. There wasn’t a single complaint. I had the caprese sandwich which was amazing! I had it every day that we came. At the end of the third day they gave us all the most amazing cream puffs ever. WELOVEITHERE!

L’s Kitchen is a cook’s dream. Meaning, I cook a lot, but when I don’t feel like cooking, I will go to Lorraine’s Kitchen to pick up something to have for dinner that night. The tamales are great to augment a meal or to have for an easy dinner. I also will pick up a dessert if I am entertaining and don’t want to deal with dessert. She’s on FB, so you know what is being offered for that day. If your life is busy and you enjoy good food, go to L’s Kitchen.

Delicious sandwiches, excellent, well priced daily specials, scrumptious desserts! This hole in the wall place will surprise you with how good and well prepared their food is. It’s really the best deli in the neighborhood.

I was so bummed to learn that L’s kitchen has closed in the funk zone. To Lorraine, Rosa, Marguerite, and Felix and others there, thank you so much for taking good care of me and all the other funk zone workers that happened to stop by your facility. You are all hard working and caring people, and I wish you all the best of luck going forward with your new ventures. And to the landlord who owns this property and forced Lorraine out with ridiculously escalating rents(Really 400%), can I ask you? How much money will ever be enough? Suck it you greedy 1%s! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I’ve eaten here for lunch three times since moving into the funk zone. Each time I’ve been wowed by the quality/taste of the food and the friendliness of the help staff. I’d give it 5 stars, but it’s not exactly set up for sit-down service or even counter service really. There are a few tables outside and it’s pleasant as heck to eat here on a nice sunny SB day, but it would be a challenge on bad weather days or if they ever get popular for lunch. Currently it doesn’t seat more than about 8 – 10 people. They have lunch specials every day so I’ve had a Shrimp/Mango/Avocado salad, and a seared scallop dish that were both phenomenal. This is a very nice little restaurant. I’m selfishly happy that it’s not more popular or obvious. Next up… I want to try this place for breakfast and coffee.

I thought that I knew the Funk Zone! I thought that I had visited every busininess there was. For at least half of the businesses I created their Unilocal profile! So I was shocked when I read a review of L’s Kitchen the other day. They said it was in the Funk Zone, I was thinking that maybe they were in some funky zone on the other side of the freeway or something and the Unilocaler was mistaken. But no, it is right on Yanonali Street between Santa Barbara Winery and Metropolis. I had lunch there yesterday, I went with much anticipation. You kind of have to know that it is there because it is very easy to miss. Not a place you would probably wander into. They have three tables outside on their patio and no real indoor seating. I expected it to be catering food because that was what they did before serving walk-ins. I was surprised that the menu consisted of quesadillas, Burritos, Tortas and salads. OK, Mexican fare, I can roll with that. I ordered a Millanesa Torta and sat on the patio. Now let me explain something! Four stars is a very good rating. I know, this place seems to be all five stars and I am ruining it but honestly, my experience wasn’t five star. The pork was a little chewy and seemed to be a little overcooked. The sandwich was a little bland and I wasn’t offered any salsa or hot sauce to go on it. Overall though it was quite tasty and I am looking forward to my next visit to try one of the burritos or salads. In addition to lunch I noticed that they also serve breakfast. I will be in some Saturday to check it out. So there is another food choice in the Funk Zone. You might want to give them a try.

The funk Zone is one of my favorite places in the entire world and L’s kitchen is definitely a big part of that. The food is phenomenal. All of the ingredients used in the meals are so fresh. I recently had the breakfast burritos on my last visit and they are the best I have ever had. The salsa and bacon also amazing. You have to visit L’s kitchen next time you are in The Funk Zone — you won’t regret it!!!

I don’t even remember how I found this place, but now whenever I’m in the Funk Zone I crave their food. If it’s before noon I crave the Ranchero Burrito(a great breakfast burrito) or if it’s after noon I crave the pre-made sandwiches(heated up to it’s toasty goodness) or the burrito bowl(burrito without the tortilla, more like a salad) with either chicken or rajas. Lorraine is a cool lady and the other ladies working there are solid. Good people that it feels good to support.

So rarely does one get top notch service and even better product– I’d almost forgotten it was possible! L’s serves up both– and how! We ordered three dozen holiday cookies for an event we were hosting and were delighted by the friendly«we can do whatever you need» attitude when we called to place the order. When I went to pick them up I was greeted by happy staff and a bubbly owner who couldn’t have been more attentive. I was impressed by all the breakfast and lunch offerings and can’t wait to come back and try some. Lot’s of lovely looking pies and pastries await here too. The price was very fair, and oh boy those cookies were DeeeeeeLish! Our guests RAVED!

Awesome little hole in the wall. I picked up a flatbread pizza(mushrooms, parm, truffle oil and arugula) and a homemade cookie while I was waiting for a train. Totally hit the spot, and got to try their cranberry relish and cream cheese while I waited for my pizza. So delish!
