Skin Deep

I have been a customer of Skin Deep for many years. Their product lines are the top of the line and all the sale ladies are knowledgeable about them, if I have questions. I recently had a Yon-​Ka Youth Revealing Stem Cell Facial, and I could really tell the difference in the skin tone and look of my face. My esthetician was so knowledgeable and helped me pick the product best for me. I just bought a Clarisonic and they had a wonderful promotion, where I got 25% off and they gave me a travel bag and head for it. I could go on and on about my many experiences, but you get my drift, I love Skin Deep and all they have to offer. When I celebrate a birthday or give a gift, it often includes a gift certificate from Skin Deep!

Skin Deep is always my first choice for beauty care products and services. They have a wide selection of products and services, as well as affordable gift options. Most of the staff are long-​time employees and it’s always nice to see their friendly familiar faces. Everyone at Skin Deep is very knowledgeable in their field and I have always been pleased with their recommendations. Another thing I like about Skin Deep is that it is locally owned and operated and they generously support our community. I go out of my way to support businesses that support the important causes in our community. I highly recommend that you give Skin Deep a visit.

Hands down love this place, there is always great inventory, unique items, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. A while back I was looking for donations for a business event and skin deep donated gift baskets and gift certificates. Their donation was incredibly generous and the basket and certificates were just beautifully done.

Many thanks to Nina and the wonderful make-​up artist team for their talent, generosity, and patience. They work incredibly well with older adults and love helping women bring their inner beauty outward.

I’ve been seeing Joi Kohn for about a year. She’s wonderful! Beautiful person inside and out. She is a fabulous colorist. She’s been doing my highlights since I moved to town. My first appointment was just a random selection but I wouldn’t trade her. Completely satisfied!

I saw Suzanne today for a facial and she was FANTASTIC! My skin looks and feels great and I can’t wait for it to look even better after I start using the products she so kindly suggested to me! She was helpful, yet not pushy at all and explained why and how everything worked throughout the facial and product-​wise. I will definitely be seeing her again!

I went to Suzanne yesterday for microdermabrasion and I loved it. She let me know what she was doing the entire time and how it would benefit me. She also recommended products for me but didn’t push them… so refreshing. I’m definitely going back to her again.

I had been looking for a place to get a facial at and who used dermalogica products. A friend recommended Skin deep Spa and I am so glad she did.
I was welcomed by the staff and the esthetician (Nicole) was amazing! I am now going to become a regular !

I got my hair cut by Recia today and was VERY impressed. I’m trying to grow my hair out, and wanted to keep the shape that I had from my previous hair cut– she made sure only to trim a little bit, as I had asked, and gave it exactly the shape I had described. On top of that, she was also very sweet, accommodative, and happy to give me a play-​by-​play so I wouldn’t freak out.
Definitely making this my go-​to salon!

Used a Groupon to get a haircut from Recia and I’m so happy with how my hair turned out! She fixed my layers and made them look more gradual instead of choppy like before. My hair smells amazing and the head massage she gives you while washing your hair is simply amazing. She’s also so sweet and super friendly to talk to.
Definitely coming back to try their facials; apparently they’ve been voted best place to get a facial in sb for the past 15 years! The salon also has a store area with cute jewelry from local jewelers, accessories, hair supplies, makeup, etc.

I had my color done by Marla, and I am just thrilled! Getting a great blonde is an art form these days & she is not only a skilled artist & stylist but such a warm & pleasant professional who really makes one feel welcome & comfortable in her chair!
To further her challenge she needed to match my color with my hair extensions & she gets another 5 stars for the effortless and perfect blend she achieved!

Reyna Angel waxed my arms and hands today. I take meds that make me feel more hairy than I want to be and I therefore need that extra touch on areas most women wouldn’t even worry about. I was beyond impressed with her! She took her time, was very detail oriented, patient, empathic and understanding. My arms and hands have never received such love– any other time I am waxed, it is a rushed job in this area…(I see my arms and hands in front of me everyday, so I easily spots that have been missed). Thank you Reyna, for the 110% care you showed me today!

I love Skin Deep. I shopped for hair products and accessories in the late 1990s, when I was a full-​time Santa Barbara resident and had no other options, and just shopping there again.
Skin Deep is the Palmetto of Santa Barbara (a very high-​end beauty supply on Montana and 10^th or 11^th which catered to the Rustic Canyon and Browns Cleaners crowd even in the 1980s when I was in high school. They don’t sell anything like the skin care you find at Palmetto and the trinkets are far less expensive, but it does have that feel.
I hate to wax but decided to surprise my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. Counterintuitively, hard wax is less sadistic than soft wax. I just booked another «miscellaneous» wax with Nicole (not a full bikini or Brazilian which no amount of money or love would induce me ever to get again: my feeling is that unless you work in porn, a razor is sufficient).
Given that I am anguished epileptic for the 15 or 20 minutes I’m jumping off the table, the experience isn’t as awful as I expected. As with many things in life, waxing is a no pain, no gain proposition. And I have concluded that the gain of a miscellaneous wax outweighs the pain. It’s also half the price because you’re not doing the front/​middle.
The rooms are well-​appointed and everyone is very friendly. Parking is easy and it’s close to Max’s and Harry’s Bar if you need alcoholic anesthetic prior to dripping hot wax on sensitive skin.
Victorian Chick tip: NEVER get any kind of a wax sober, particularly if you are very sensitive. You need alcohol and/​or a sedative to emerge unscathed. I have a visceral recollection of my Brazilian wax at Zen spa and I had had a glass of wine 25 minutes beforehand. 1mg Ativan and a martini is about what you need to avoid wax PTSD. For a bikini, you might be able to get away with two glasses or wine or one martini. I will go the bikini plus 600 mg Advil route this Wednesday when I get my second wax with Nicole.

Went in today looking for some hair wax. I literally stood in shop for 10 minutes as staff walked by me. Not one employee ever asked if I need help. Was surreal. I now know what it feels like to be invisible. Beverly Hills attitude on Upper State street. GREAT!!!

I was very wary of going to someone new to get a haircut, but I had the most wonderful experience at Skin Deep yesterday! I found a Groupon coupon online and called to make an appointment — the receptionist was very courteous and helped me make a same-​day appointment. When I arrived, I met my stylist, Recia, who was very sweet and welcoming! I explained to her how I got my hair cut at the Paul Mitchell School and that they did a terrible job, and showed her pictures of what I wanted. We talked, getting to know each other a bit, and she offered me a hot beverage since I was cold. The raspberry tea was delicious! By the end of my appointment, I was extremely happy with both my haircut and the customer service I had experienced! I will definitely be coming back to see Recia for my next haircut!

I had Caroline do the Xtreme Lashes on my eyes today, and they look fabulous!
I was so relaxed that I kept falling asleep, then… ta da!
I will go back to her to fill in lost lashes. It was a nice experience, and I highly recommend it!

I have collage plastic shopping bags from there that are so well done and pretty– people stop me all the time to compliment me and ask me where I got them. The make up department is excellent and they have outstanding makeup artists to guide you to be the best you.— you can be.
Skin Deep has loyal customers and whether you shop there for the first time or for the one hundredth time — you will learn why– it is the overall SERVICE. The service is outstanding– It is something you don’t see much any more– any where.

Tamara is a true gem! My hair turned out great and she worked with me to ensure I got exactly what I wanted! The salon offers wine (nice) and other beverages upon arrival. I enjoy that it is a smaller studio with a more personal feel. Prices are also very reasonable which is always appreciated. I would highly recommend this place.

In response to the owners response, this is a true and honest review of by experience. No vindictiveness as I do not personally no anyone to have a problem with.
I will say however that this experience was a couple years ago and the review was written at that time. For some reason the review just went up when I logged in the other day.
Perhaps the technician is different now. I hope so.
