Loved the food here! We came here on a cold Sunday afternoon and after a bit of a wait, the food was absolutely amazing! The shrikhand and gulab jamun were simply delicious :-) we loved the undiyu and the methi malai, they were really tasty. The staff is courteous, and ensure that you never go hungry or are left wanting. Great experience!

For 7.31(tax included) I got the Thali express to go and it was super filling! I really enjoyed it and want to try sitting in the restaurant.

Nice delicious food. A decent variety of dishes. We ordered combo thali that includes both chaat thali and Gujrati thali. Prices were steep as our chaat thali was 12 $, Gujrati thali was 16 $ & combo was whopping 19 $. Great food but due to high pricing will give only 3 starts.

Lightning quick service. Great food. Value for money. I visited ‘Thali Indian Vegetarian’ with my friend. We were given option of 3 Thalis — 1. Gujrati thali — with all the curries in it — main entrée — paneer — 2 daal — zukini curry and chole 2. Chat thali — with appetizers — pav bhaji, dhokla, golgappe, vegetable cutlet — salad — chutneys 3. Combo thali — As the name says, combination of Gujrati and Chat Thali We also got buttermilk(chaach/chaas) with the thali. For desserts we were served gulab jamun and srikhand. Everything is unlimited. You can also pour yourself a cup of chai after you are done enjoying your thali — it’s included in the price of thali. As soon as you look at any of the servers they come running towards you and start putting food in your thali, insane service level — I kid you not. You must try this place if you are in the area or visiting it. 5 stars — for the service 3.5 stars — for the food 3.5 stars — for the ambience

The food, the hospitality and the experience overall is just splendid. :) wait time after 8PM is large since demand is huge. But the wait is totally worth it! Cashew paneer curry was very rich and tasty.

They charge holiday pricing on a working day and the holiday pricing for the service and not so special food doesn’t justify the price. We get to know the price at the end. Their website nor they informed us about the specials. Would you pay $ 18 + tax for evening working day light dinner? For the food and service — I guess $ 12 on weekends and $ 10 on weekdays is perfect. Anything more is not-justified. Although the food was decent because of pricing and no-communication regarding prices, I am not going again.

Love this place. Amazing gujarati(Gujarat — Western State of India) thali. Their Combo thali is amazing on weekends. They server regular thali with combination of chaat thali. Must try. The food takes me back to Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

I’ve been to India and had some of the best food there is. When I got back in May I looked all over the Bay Area for food that was authentic and could compare to what I had eaten there. I was ready to give up but then I found this gem of a restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is very friendly and the décor is beautiful. I’ve started to eat here every week and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it — the food is that good!

I have to say, I really enjoyed my time here. I had a rough idea of what to expect from reading the other Unilocal reviews, but nothing swayed me from not going. Other than I knew it was going to be one $$$ meal. Indian dim sum is what comes to mind when I think of how to explain it to friends, except not as huge variety. They come around, as described by other Unilocalers, with these food offerings in serving tins in a certain order. First comes appetizer food(and desserts first too lol), then they bring the veggies and then the rices and other ending items. Someone with bread offerings also follows in between these food items. Here is what I liked the most: I got to try brand new flavors and get outside of my usual routine and dishes. If you really like Indian food and you are open to trying new flavors and dishes — this is a great experience for you. The food is fresh and tasty, the flavors are really nice with a combination of just spiced right and not too much heat so you are uncomfortable. Definitely spicy, so not for those who like more simple foods. But I wasn’t ever feeling like I needed water or raita immediately to soothe the spice. The chutneys are super delicious. The nicest mint chutney I’ve had in awhile — bright and bold flavor, nicely tart too. The tamarind was just perfect with its sweet sour blend. I genuinely had fun. They had a paneer dish, an okra dish, some kind of lentil/eggplant/mixed veg dishes and two dal soups. One soup was yogurt based and a bit sour and nutty, and the other was quite sweet and really delicious. Reminded me of a yellow lentil with sweet potato flavor. The server said it was regional specific to be that sweet, so I think it was actually sweetened vs a sweet potato but still delicious. There was some other veg dish I am forgetting, but then they had kichadi and basmati rice offerings. I went with my mom, husband and one year old son. He loved the dhokla which was like an idli but with chickpea instead of lentils. He was able to eat the paneer, roti and dhokla with no problems. We went around 1:45pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t crowded much. We were able to get seated right away and they had a high chair. The parking was the trickiest part because that complex gets crazy horrible busy. Pro tip: if you head down the parking lot towards Thali restaurant there is hardly anywhere to turn around. it T’s out in shape… so if you haven’t nabbed anything in the center or side, I dunno !! good luck !! So, why 3 stars? The price is crAzY !! for the three of us we ended up paying $ 60+ for the meal. I think it was super fun experience, but it is absolutely not on my places to return to regularly because there is NOWAY I’m paying that much money for a meal. I would need to see at least 4 more veggie options coming my way and 3 more appetizers, minimum to feel like I was getting an experience worth it. I can absolutely see why they do this from a business point of view, I go to plenty of Indian buffets to see how people eat — however… its usually Americans NOT Indians who return for 2nds and 3rds. Most people do tap out pretty quick at a buffet. Mostly all the Indians I have witnessed at a buffet do two rounds in the line, but the first round begins and ends with the chaat section and then the 2nd round begins and ends with the real meal food. Then that’s it… maybe some dessert but nobody gorges food in a way that would make a buffet place keep increasing their need for higher prices. So, for the crazy parking, crazy busy times this place can get that I have witnessed from driving by, and the limited actual variety no matter HOW much they return to give you… I just can’t fathom paying $ 18 a pop to eat there. My max price I am EVER comfortable dropping at a buffet is about $ 14. However, I do encourage anyone curious and who is aware its going to be pricey but delicious to just go and have fun here at least once. Its totally worth the one time foodie visit and so fun to check out some new dishes.

Plus: + good appetizers/farsan options like dhokla, cutlets etc + selected dessert option is good: shrikhand + selected vegetables are good: paneer sabzi, corn sabzi(both made little Punjabi style) + good servers who serve food right at your table frequently Minus: — rotis are little thick — dal/kadhi not very tasty — khichdi is a complete letdown — undhiyu is strictly average — this is not authentic Gujarati thali place — not at all value for money $$. $ 18.

I have been to this place twice with my friends. Its a small place with nice ambience, good food and great service. They have two thalis — regular and chaat Thali and a combo of two is also served. A lot of variety of starters, main course dishes and desserts are served in the combo option. Chaas, pani puri, pao bhaji, chole, paneer and shreekhand were awesome. The only issue is with the price. A combo option comes at around $ 21 after taxes, but its still worth a try for good Gujarati food and its awesome service.

Catering REview : This review is purely for the catering of food that i did at my party. This was for a 100 guests party 80ish adults and 20 kids. The food was super, i want to say that it felt better than eating at Thali restaurant…:) The quality and quantity were just outstanding, all guests were pleased and it made my party Awesome. Food is the center of all parties and i can surely say that Thali team did a great job. They even deliver food for a nominal cost which just saves time and effort and they will come and arrange food too. Cheers to the Thali team Njoy

Very good kind of home style food. It’s buffet style restaurant and they serve on metal trays. A lot of waiters are going around and offering different dishes from bowls that they have with. There are two buffet options or also can go with combo which is twice as expensive. I was there with family of 5 and I ended up paying over $ 60. The food was very tasty and good. I’m don’t know how authentic that was or not. The staff is very helpful and they are not short on hands. I would go back, but not take combo, because that was bit too expensive.

I was here on tuesday evening with my frnds. Worst experience i have ever had in many months. We have ordered combo and we got our chat wen we are completely done with our food. Staff was running here and there but never got anything. We had to ask 5 times to get our sabji’s, which they got it after 10mints. Some one can even make the food in between the time we asked and they got it. I recommend they increase their standards and keep experienced staff. Finally wen we were done and about to leave. Had to use the wash room. It was completely filled with cock roaches. I dnt even get it how they have passed the inspection. Don’t recommend any more to any one.

Average food. Although the concept is awesome, wish they put that much effort if serving good food. I went twice and on both days I ended up eating just one or two dishes of the entire platter. Ended up getting a to go from another restaurant. On the other hand I have friends who love this place. Baseline: If you like to have awesome dishes in limited quantity this is not the place. On the other hand, if you want a huge meal but are okay or average Indian food Thali is a good option.

Disclaimer: I haven’t tasted an authentic Gujarati cuisine, so I must say I am not a connoisseur. Having said that, this is some of the best Gujarati cuisine I have ever tasted! Had the thali for lunch, simply excellent. Loved the curry with edamame beans, the dhokla and shrikanda. I’m going to be visiting this very often!

1. Bad customer service 2. Ridiculously highly priced I went with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. I wanted to try chaat and my husband Gujarati Thaali. The waiter said $ 12.59 for Gujarati Thaali and $ 12.59 for Chaat. $ 16.something for Combo. Gujarati Thaali had like 8 – 9 dishes. Mediocre tasting. While chaat has pani puri, paav bhaaji(unlimited) and only one cup of Shrikand(not extra serving, a liquidy wheat kesari(Ksheera) if u need more sweet). I had tried Tepla and daal from hubby’s plate and the servers come running giving me a red flag(Green napkin is for non-combo order and red napkin for combo, their way of identifying the order) saying u can only taste not eat from hubby’s plate. And the average tasting Chaat plate was not even worth $ 6 and neither was it filling. Just for the show of a pani bucket and 5 – 6 gollagappas u put, u thought it can be any worth more than $ 6? You definitely cant fool us. Absolutely ridiculously priced for mediocre meals. Left a very bad taste. Will never go back. No, Thank you!

One of the best gujarati food in bay area. If you have been to ‘Rajdhani’ restaurant in India, this is pretty much the same. Amazing choices in food, quick service and slightly expensive. Be aware of long queue on weekends. We waited almost an hour before we could fill our tummy.

Attention vegans, read this review first. This restaurant can be amenable to your self-imposed dietary restrictions but YOU need to announce your limits first. There is no menu here, hence«Thali» so you don’t know what’s going to be served. I can tell you right now that the green chutney is not vegan. It has yogurt in it! Why not go ahead and try some anyway? Go on, push your limits; No SafeWord; Mr. Grey will see you now. If you’ve read this far and you may as well just skip all the other reviews altogether. other reviewers are going on about how this is NOT or IS traditional Gujarati cuisine. Who cares? Many of the patrons here have no idea what that Gujarat region is like or what they should or should not be expecting. Why not tell us something about the price, or the decorations, or something substantive about the Gujarat culture? No? ok, I’ll take it. Here goes: lunch here is $ 14 flat. There’s no menu but instead a series of waiters visit your table with buckets of food and start dishing it all out onto your platter. From there, you take some naan, scoop up the curry, and start smashing it into your word hole. Vegans will be treated to a custom curry AND dessert! Wha-pa-pa-pa-pow! Well gang, do try this place and get your own perspective. Having read this review you now have more than you had coming in. Skip the other reviews. Consider yourself edified.
