Not that this place needs anymore 5 star reviews, I just felt the need to write another one. I was craving a mango lassi and went to a local spot I’ve been going to for years(I won’t mention any names as I know how tough the restaurant business is), anyhow the mango lassi was spoiled. It was also spoiled a few days earlier. You think they would have gotten their act together after I called them a few days before. I was fed up, so I got on Unilocal and researched local Indian restaurants. I’m so happy I discovered Royal Tandoor. This looks like it’s going to be my new Indian spot. So excited to try their dishes soon. P. s. The mango lassi was delicious and the staff was so inviting. I look forward to my return

Pros: 1) Your getting a buffet for just 8.95. Wow. And they have kept the price consistent. 2) Goat curry is good, most of the time. 3) Samosas and Pakoras are nice. 4) Halwa has a good taste. 4) Very good employees. Cons: 1) Very generic North Indian dishes. 2) Chicken curry and Kadhi has raw garlic smell all the time. 3) Tikka masala has raw ghee smell. 4) Tea/Chai lacks milk and tea leaves. Taste is watery. 5) Gulab Jamun is like a sponge. 6) Tandoori chicken taste is too bland. Tandoori Chicken in Punjab tastes nothing like this.

Thank you Unilocalers for this recommendation! We were in the Point Mugu area driving through Grimes Canyon to Santa Clarita for a dentist appt. It’s so hard to find good Indian, so we rolled the dice based on rave reviews and were totally blown away by this humble restaurant with its bomb lunch buffet. So many different flavors! Not the Indian where everything starts to taste the same. Perfect tandoori chicken, creamy saag paneer with firm cheese, fluffy vegetable biryani, samosa and vegetable kebab. Plus the table service was friendly, and the beer was cold.

I normally order takeout from here a few times a month, but after my last order I feel like I have to change my review. First off, their takeout minimum was $ 25(I know because I order from them so frequently). I called to order takeout the other night and they said that their minimum was $ 30. I told them that I order from them frequently and that can’t be it because it’s always $ 25 and the guy said that its been that way. I got irritated and didn’t order. Then my husband told me that he really wants Indian and I should order from them anyway. So I called back and another person picked up the phone. When I started to order, he said the minimum was $ 35. WHAT!!! when I tried explaining everything to him, he acted like he didn’t understand what I was saying, put me on hold, and then came back on the phone and acted as if nothing happened. At this point I’m super irritated. You’re going to treat a regular customer like this? No thanks. Also, they need to upgrade their takeout system. I have to give them my info every single time! Done with this place. Feel like they’re just ripping me off at this point. Got to find another Indian restaurant.

OMG I have reached heaven and it is Royal Tandoor! I don’t go out when I’m at work but this morning I was hungry and found them through Unilocal and I could submit an order for pick up(be aware of business hours because you can order but they don’t open until 11) I ordered samosas, peas pullao, goat curry(spicy), aloo gobhi(medium), and garlic naan. The portions for take out are very large and well worth the wait. The spices blended beautifully, the taste and texture were perfect! I’m an Indian food snob and they have a customer for life here. Next time I’m going to bump it up to India spicy, this time I wanted to test the delicious waters before going big. When I arrived at 10:30 my order wasn’t ready(I wasn’t aware they didn’t open until 11, my mistake). The staff was outstanding and sat me at the bar for my short wait. They asked if I’d like a drink while I waited and I ordered my favorite mango lassi, oh my oh my do they make them as good as their other treats! I highly recommend this outstanding restaurant! Go relax enjoy the rich smells of the spices, the savory treats, wonderful music, and friendly staff!

The best indian food in santa clarita valley! Costumer service is great and they do take care of you. Food is amazing and we have been a regular costumer. If you want to try everything in one plate i recommend the tandoori dinner! The mango lasi is a beverage favorite! Love the spices and the garlic naan. Everything has been great and they say it is the closest thing to how their mom cooks at home in india.

Excellent! This was our first time eating here. Ishaan was very helpful and chose 3 delicious dishes for us to try. Everything we ate was fresh and very tasty. The service was attentive and eager to please. The restaurant is quaint and clean. I’m looking forward to going back.

This place has great Indian food. I’ve been for their lunch buffet and takeout and both have been delicious. Some of my favorite dishes have been the Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, Somosas, Aloo Tikki and the Vegetable Korma Enlightment. Everything here has been good. I love being able to come and get a wide variety of Indian dishes.

I love this place! The food is so delicious and fresh. Chicken Mahkni, Paneer Tikka masala, naan, samosa, all of it. We have had the buffet many times and the food is so affordable, the staff wonderful with my kids, and the food is amazing! The reason I’m rating tonight? We had it delivered with the Unilocal delivery service. The food came on time, and they went through the trouble of packing tightly and wrapping with saran wrap, so no leaks! The food was hot and delicious as if we had gone there in person. I’m guessing a manager or owner dropped it off?!? He was in dress pants and a nice shirt. These guys hustle!

We decided to try something new in town, which is not an easy task in Santa Clarita. Chain restaurants are the norm in our town and we’d rather support a locally owned business. So, we opted for Indian food and found Royal Tandoor with Unilocal’s help. It should be noted that the address on Unilocal is incorrect and we had a hard time finding the place. It’s in between a closed Haagen grocery store and a CVS pharmacy. There were plenty of diners in the restaurant but we didn’t have to wait for a table. We were seated by the buffet, which was closed. Why don’t Indian restaurants offer a dinner buffet? In any case, it wasn’t the best seat in the house. Right above us was a TV which was very distracting. I am not a fan of TV’s in restaurants unless I’m at a sports bar. The food: The food was amazing with ample portions and just the right amount of spices. We ordered coconut curry chicken and chicken tikka masala. Both were very tasty but the coconut curry chicken was the winner. We also had a side of garlic naan. It looked better than it tasted, to be honest. I could hardly taste the garlic. The service: I wish I had better things to say. I tried several times to order the garlic naan but there was an obvious language barrier. When the waiter finally got it, I asked him to bring it before our dinner dishes arrived. It came after our dinner arrived. The food took inordinately long to make. The waiter was apologetic and brought my wife a glass of cheap red wine to soften our wait. I also noticed that as the wait staff grabbed dinner plates to being to the table, they first inspected them and many of them wiped their hands on plates to get things off prior to bringing them to the table. Will I be back? No. The food wasn’t extraordinary and the service was lacking. I’ll try another Indian place.

This was pretty good meal but no one in our party of four seemed to want to return anytime soon. The dishes were large and we all had leftovers to bring home. I would give it another chance and try something other than the eggplant. Two people in our party had a lamb dish that was tasty but not exceptional, another had a chicken dish but was not to excited. The service was good and the staff quite friendly.

Royal Tandoor is sure to have Tandori chicken in their($ 8.95) lunch buffet right? Unfortunately the day I went they didn’t. One of the many waiters that waited on me(Raj) said they normally do on most days. My day was the exception. Luckily for me he took the extra initiative to have the cook make two tandoori pieces for me. That was a nice surprise! That’s a great example of excellent customer service and why they have five stars here. Their food isn’t the best Indian food Ive ever had but it certainly was very good and most definitely above average. I’m also happy they include chai with their buffet and offer plain or garlic naan, also included in the buffet. Their ambience and superb service raises their rating praise to the deserving five stars. Thank Royal Tandoor. I got the royal treatment at your establishment.

I’m so happy to see a solid five stars has stuck to this place. I worked at an Indian Restaurant for around 4 years so I’m very picky about my Indian Fine Dining experience… And even the buffet here doesn’t disappoint. First of all the buffet has a wonderful selection and a great price. They also have items that surprise me every now and again which is really fun! What I would like to focus on in this review — how they nail the spices in the food. If you don’t know; all that«curry» really means is «mixed spices.» Yes it can also mean Indian specific spices. Bad Indian restaurants tend have dishes that all taste very similar because they are mashing all the same curry mixtures into the recipe. So the Chicken Masala, Lamb Korma, Vegetable Curry, Shahi Paneer, even the Bhindi Masala starts to just taste the same ignoring the protein or choice or veggies! This is NOT the case here. Sometimes less is more and I haven’t been back to the kitchen, but whatever they are doing, I can tell they are doing it with care. They are distinct and delicious flavor differences. Lastly, the service is good! Everyone there seems concerned about your dining experience whether your are there for the buffet or getting fancy at dinner time. So that’s it! That’s all I got! Enjoy!

It has been a week since my first visit and I cannot stop thinking about them meat samosas and that THICK tikka masala sauce. Btw, I had successfully convinced my Indian homegirl to have this restaurant caters for her wedding in the future. — Classy, romantic, dimly lit ambience — Perfect for date night — Great service, although it does take a little long for our food to arrive at the table, but that can be easily forgiven consider the quality of the dishes. — Thicker tikka malasa sauce compared to other Indian restaurant. I like THICK sauce and I cannot lie. — Huge meaty samosas(2 for $ 3.95) — We also got Malai Kofta, Garlic Chili Naan(totally recommend), and Mango Lassi. All was delicious. — Interesting mixture of mouth fresheners(spices + candy + sugar) by the door. If you want to kiss your date after dinner, this place got you. RESULT: All 4 of us were ready to knock out in the car from having Indian food comas as we left and we still had plenty of leftovers to take home. P. S. I had very high expectations of this place due to the 5 stars on Unilocal — and they almost met my expectations(but still good enough to get 5 stars). Let me tell you why: 1. The service is excellent: they are very attentive, and they add a personal touch, but not too personal to invade your privacy. The workers smile and occasionally make jokes, creating a fun environment. 2. The food was superb: I’ve been to quite a few high rated Indian restaurants, and this place had the best food I’ve tasted. As a group of 4, we shared our food. The main dishes were so good that there was no way I can give this place just 4 stars. While the samosas came pretty quickly, our main dishes took a long time to come out — a little too long for our comfort. But I can understand why looking at how well-prepared and delicious the food were. — Appetizer: Samosa and Meat Samosa($ 2.95/$ 3.95 || 4⁄5 stars) — Main Dishes: Lamb Tikka Masala($ 10.95), Malai Kofta($ 9.95) with Plain Rice($ 2.95), Garlic Naan($ 2.95), Garlic Chili Naan($ 2.95 || 5⁄5 stars) — Drinks: Mango Lassi($ 2.95 || 4.5÷5 stars) My overall thoughts? 4.5 out of 5 stars, but I’ll round it up for Unilocal. If I come around this area again, I will definitely consider this restaurant as an option for food.
