I went in yesterday afternoon for a shave and haircut. There were 3 people waiting and only 1 barber, so instead of waiting, I decided to come back in the next day (today). On my way out, I looked at their hours in the front window and saw that they open at 10 a.m. This morning I got there at 10 and no one was there. When no one was there at 10.15 I Googled them and saw their hours listed online are 10.30 opening. Irritated, I still waited until 10.30 — no one. When no one was there at 10.40, having waited 40 minutes in the cold, I finally left.
I think it probably tells us something about how this place views its customers that it doesn’t feel like it needs to put out accurate info or even to be bothered being on time. I don’t care if these people are barber-​geniuses, I won’t be back.

She was very demeaning, didn’t do what I asked on my hair, told me that my cut would look like a man and then made me help her clean her shop. Do not go here.

This was just what I was looking for. A clean, no frills, barbershop that gives traditional straight razor shaves.
Along with my haircut, the barber steamed, and massaged my face!
I will be back!

Haircut was fine. Service was far from it. First of all, Karla faced me away from the mirror almost the entire time, so I wasn’t sure if I was getting the haircut I wanted or if she was butchering my hair. This would be nerve-​wrecking any time you’re getting a haircut, but is even more so when someone new is doing it.
Second, she had cut her finger when working on a previous customer but was clutching a paper towel to stop the bleeding rather than putting on a bandage. This makes me concerned about how sanitary the rest of her business is.
Third, she made several somewhat homophobic remarks during our conversation, which is not excusable in 2015.
Fourth, she also shaved me, but the razor she used was dull & abrading. It really irritated my skin and left me with many small nicks.
Fifth, she charged me quite a bit more than the prices posted in her shop for a shave and a haircut. I understand that it’s a barber’s prerogative to increase prices for jobs that are especially difficult or time consuming, but she offered no explanation for the inflated price.
To be fair, I am not displeased with my haircut; the length is even, thoroughly done, and pretty much what I wanted. However, the experience was altogether unprofessional. I will not return to Cali Barber Shop, and would not recommend it to others.

The space is small, but the art covering the walls makes it seem larger than that really is. Karla is fantastic barber! She gave me exactly the cut I needed. Great shave, great service!

So clean and beautiful inside, especially the Art Studio. Stylishly cut, with a classic barber shop finish. My 1^st time, but Karla really understood my hair. And my gf loves the fresh look!

She needs to listen more, and quit talking about all her issues. I really lost interest in the saga of her daughter, and the awful men she sleeps with. I repeatedly told her what I wanted, and she just kept going on whatever it is she wanted. She didn’t appear to really hear me at all. Really bad haircut. I had to wear a hat for a few weeks. I’m sure she is a perfectly nice person, but she needs to be working in a snackbar somewhere instead of doing hair. Hint: try using at least a little water somewhere in the haircutting process.

Karla is a very nice and caring people. She cares about the customers and always asks my idea before she moves on. My girlfriend also loves my haircut. I will definitely come here again and tell more people to visit this place. Thank you Karla!

The best haircut in the 831. Karla has a wonderful eye and keen sense of what’s going to work with hair types for facial structure. It’s a great find for me, and compliments speak true.

Went in for a hair cut and got great service.
Very friendly, and the most careful barber i’ve been too. she definitely knows what she is doing with the scissors and clippers. It’s nice to have someone spend so much attention to detail with your hair, as opposed to some other barbers who don’t even look at the finished product.
