This review is for my Eyebrows. Or should I say my fabulous eyebrows thanks to Lisa! I recently moved back to town and I desperately needed my eyebrows waxed. I did a quick Unilocal search after hearing the name Lisa from multiple women around town. I called faces and Lisa answered and I asked if she had time for an eyebrow wax? She asked if I was close and I said yes and she got me in right away! Perfect I love when things work out like that.
First off, Lisa is so enjoyable to be around that I wanted to spend more time there. What great energy! I showed Lisa what I had done to my eyebrows over the last few months and begged for help. She waxed my eyebrows in a jiffy and they turned out so wonderful! I may have stared at them for a few hours after words.
I have been to cosmetology school and managed hair salons for years and I can tell you that Lisa is Clean, knowledgeable and skilled at what she does.
I recommend her and I will only go to her from now on.

Lisa is a great make-​up artist and lots of fun too. You are made to feel comfortable and she has a wide range of make-​up styles to use depending on where you are going. I have known her for many years and have recommended her to many of my clients. I highly recommend Lisa!

Faces is by far the best salon in Santa Cruz! I have been going here regularly for 9 years now and could not imagine going somewhere else. Lisa is an amazing waxer; she does a wonderful job and is very professional. I have tried many waxers in town and always left unhappy and my skin always broke out after wards, this stopped once I started going to see Lisa. She is also very knowledgeable, she always has great tips for making my skin healthier. I recommend her to everyone! Also if you need to get your hair done Ricardo does a great job! Faces meets all needs :)

I moved to Santa Cruz 5 years ago and was kind of dreading finding a new waxing specialist — cause really that’s who they have to be for the experience and the outcome to be worth coming back to. After some not so great blind trials a friend recommended Lisa at Faces and I left after an eyebrow wax feeling completely satisfied and relieved. The search was over. After a few visits I was ready to brave the world of the Brazilian wax again (it had been a few years) and Lisa was comforting, friendly and very professional. Lisa is the one to see for all your waxing needs!

Lisa is excellent! I’ve been going to her for over 5 years and I’ve never been to a better waxer.

I recently found an old gift certificate (and by old, I mean 2004). It was for a pedicure, which Faces no longer offers, however they honored it!
I needed some eyebrow maintenance bad, but I was apprehensive about getting them waxed because I generally go for the «au natural» look (ie I’m lazy). Lisa immediately took away my fears with her friendliness and knowledge. Her bubbly attitude was contagious. When she finished, I looked in the mirror and LOVED what I saw. She did a FANTASTIC job :) She gave me the exact look I was going for.
I highly recommend Faces for waxing!

Updating after many years… I moved away from santa cruz but have been back to Lisa because she is awesome! I tried going to another place to have certain things waxed and that was a big mistake! She has her own formula to put on after which helps with the unpleasantness. A little pricey but I paid less and paid for it later… so you def get what you pay for! Lisa is a sweetheart!

i agree with previous poster. my first brazilion was not ok. double dipped wax and btw, just because the wax was hot, doesn’t mean it’s not contaminated. and why didn’t you have on gloves??? um, gross.

Eyebrow review:
OK, I finally found someone (again) that can wax my eyebrows! That would be Lisa from Faces Salon.
I was a little nervous going in. The place is super small, and has that old salon feel to it. I went in based on the reviews I read here on Unilocal.I trusted my fellow Unilocalers.
Lisa is a very nice soul. She was so open and friendly the day I had my brows done. She even shared her pictures from a trip she just took to seattle (keep in mind, this was my first time meeting her).
I would of given Lisa (Faces) 5 stars, but as you read in other reviews, she double dips, re-​uses the same stick. Which I guess is a bad thing?

I have been going to Lisa for years to have my eyebrows done, and a recent experience compelled me to write this review. I went to an event at Nordstrom’s in SF, the national makeup artist for Chanel was doing makeup consultations. If you’ve ever had your makeup done at a counter like that, you know they put a ton of makeup on you, and find a product for every part of your face.
Well, this famous and talented makeup artist took a look at my face and said, «Your eyebrows are fabulous, no need to do anything to them.»
I replied, «That’s why no one touches my eyebrows but Lisa.»
Her skill and perfectionist approach are unparalleled. I’ve also taken to getting facials when I get my brows waxed and tinted, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Lisa totally ROCKSIT!!!

Lisa did a great job! I’ve been looking for a good waxer in Santa Cruz for over a year. She made me feel completely comfortable. When she brought me into the room, she allowed me to undress by myself. Other waxers I’ve gone to will watch me and laugh at me if I ask them to turn around. Also, she used strip wax and not the blue wax, which I thinks works much better. It was probably the least painful wax I’ve ever gotten. It was also really fast. I got a brazilian done in 20 minutes!
Although a bit pricey, I want to go back. I just hope my budget can allow it!

So this is my second brazilian wax and I wanted to share my experience with Lisa.
Pros: Very Thorough, Fast, Nice lady, overall very happy with the wax job.
Cons: Double dips into the wax… I was told this was a big no no, but when I asked her, she said there was no way anything could grow in the hot wax. She had already started so I didnt leave but had I known she double dips, I wouldnt have come.
She also did not wear gloves.
She really does a nice job, but that grossed me out! I am so grossed out!

There is only one place in Santa Cruz county to get any waxing done — Faces! Lisa has been doing it for so many years she could do it with her eyes closed. Whatever your request, Lisa will never make you feel uncomfortable. I once thanked her and told her how much I appreciated how at ease she made me feel, even while getting a Brazilian bikini wax. She laughed and said, «I’ve been doing this so long, „it“ might as well be a knee.» I can’t tell you how comforting, friendly, and thorough she is! After awful experiences at some «high end» salons in the area that hire young girls right out of beauty school, it was such a relief to find someone so professional. What a difference!
I’m so glad I found Lisa and Faces… I’ll never go anywhere else!
