Hand down the best mind-body-spirit and metaphysical bookstore in the Bay Area. Have been a huge fan since their original location in downtown Santa Cruz.

I moved to Santa Cruz from Santa Fe, NM over the summer and was hoping to find something like The Ark — this is it! What a magical shop! IT has everything you are looking for in the way of metaphysical books, cards, magazines, gifts etc — and everything that is looking for you ;). The staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful as well. I’m interested in checking out their offerings for readings and lectures but I keep missing them! Bummed about that and bummed to hear they might be closing really soon.

This is a great store for many things related to religion and spirituality. But rather than give a general review, I want to say that in Santa Cruz, as far as I know, this bookstore carries the widest range of Moleskine blank notebooks! They have a rotating standing shelf full of Moleskine books! It carries a much wider selection than: * Palace Arts and Office Supply(both Santa Cruz and Capitola stores) * Bookshop Santa Cruz * Borders in Santa Cruz * Lenz(which doesn’t carry them at all) * Capitola Book Café(which doesn’t carry them at all)

I go here to see Sandra, one of the Clairvoyants. I’ve been a few times now, and I have to say her readings are right on. Send me an e-mail if you’d like to know more. She works Thursdays and Saturdays. I recommend calling ahead.

When you need the metaphysical in Santa Cruz, Gateways is the answer. It has one of the largest and very best collection of books, musical collections and yoga and meditation supplies. A trip to this store means an adventure for your mind, your body and your spirit and you’ll find yourself in a world of self-discovery. There are tarot cards, crystals, incense and lots of fun things to give as gifts if you’ve got a friend or relative who happens to bend in that direction. There’s also a fairly good selection of natural healing books and their DVD selection is quite good, as well. You can spend a lot of time here, so come prepared to let your mind wander!

Gateways has a huge selection of books and Asiatic and Egyptian items: everything to aid in the exploration of Mind, Body and Spirit. They’re operated by the Hanuman Fellowship — which also sponsors the Mount Madonna Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences and the Pacific Cultural Center. The new store is big, so look around and refuel at Malabar Restaurant!
