Wow, could the lady who worked there(maybe the owner) have been any ruder? I went in to look for maternity clothes, even just some nice basics, this Saturday(01.31.15) and was not even greeted with a half a smile. I said hello, looked around and on my way out said«thank you, have a good day!» she looked at me with the most sour, something-smells-like-poo, face and said«uh huh» I can’t recall a shop person, worker or owner, was so dismissive and rude. I truly don’t understand what would posses a person to look at someone with such disdain. I let her know the appropriate reply when someone says to have a nice day is to say something, possibly the same, back. Not to look at them like something smells like sh*t. There wasn’t anything I found to be worth it anyways. A lot of Ross/outlet versions of higher end clothing.

Ugh, this place! If you plan on selling items on the internet don’t leave them out and around the shop where potential customers might actually want to buy them. Oh, you want that thing in my store where I sell things? Nope, can’t buy it. Internet. Oh, that’ pile of things I said was $ 30 a piece? Yeah, the one item you picked out of it is $ 45 because… well…because. Yeah…okay. Guess you don’t want my money, then.

I stopped here on vacation and enjoyed looking at the interesting assortment of current and vintage clothing and accessories. There were many high end items in the mix and the lady working was very pleasant.

It’s always worth a stop to see what Ivy has to offer. She sells a mix of true vintage clothing, consignment modern clothing and retro 80’s/90’s clothing. Handbags, scarves, jewelry and sometimes fabrics are also for sale. The shop is small and it takes no time to browse all the racks, which I recommend because sometimes a hidden treasure from the past can be mixed in with those acid washed 80’s clothes. The staff is small and each one has her own personality, some warmer than others. Prices are very fair.

I have been shopping at the Ivy for 3 or 4 years and have recommended it to countless friends who ask where I get my clothes. I only come in a few times a year, but I rarely leave empty-handed. What I especially love about the Ivy are the vintage and handmade items, many from Europe. It’s also a quiet, clean, charming, and well-organized shop. Over the years, I’ve bought a beautiful camel-hair coat, a lovely handmade cardigan from Ireland, a hyacinth-blue cashmere sweater from Scotland, a very cool wraparound dress a la Diane von Furstenberg, J. Crew and Banana Republic pants, and a very unusual Issey Miyake long wool vest that has yielded more compliments than any other item in my wardrobe. I’ve seen Coach bags and Ferragamo shoes here(never my size, unfortunately). Whoever does the buying has an amazing eye. I’m a 6 or 8 and find a LOT of things in my size. The prices are not extremely low($ 20-$ 30), but for the quality of things I’ve bought, they’re quite reasonable. I see that another reviewer didn’t like the hands-off staff. I like the staff just the way they are! They’re helpful but not intrusive or pushy. I know what I like, though, so am not really interested in others’ input.

I love Ivy Company! This is the place to shop. They have great clothes, both latest designer and cool and quirky vintage. It is almost impossible not to find something irresistible. Prices are reasonable, and the service attentive. Don’t miss it!
