Safeway

I use Safeway stores all over the country .
Sad to report this is one of my least favorite.
SO Sad … As This is my «go to «grocery in SCruz .New Leaf& Trader Joes prices leave me little choice .
There are never enough checkers, the lines during «rush «hours become almost
Comically long ! As 2 out of 3 registers remain closed ! Obviously chronically understaffed .
The self –checkout is also a joke. As far as making things faster — it Does NOT. It is not easy to use, everyone gridlocked as they «wait for checker approval «. The whole thing needs to be more «user friendly” – starting with the «approving checker» being able to mingle among the self checkouts. Instead of customers making frantic hand gestures and yelling across the store, while the checkers are «over there «at the register screen —- it’s called a PC Tablet. Aka an iPad …, Hello .
At every other Safeway store, if you shop
At certain hours you see lots of Mgr. Special
Clearance Prices… NOT HERE. Another disappointing thing about THIS PARTICULAR SAFEWAY.
The dairy department is in 3 different areas.
The spices are Crazy high prices & no generic alternatives (eye-​roll)…
On the UP SIDE —
I like some bakery items ‚
Like the croissant at $ 5 doz
The artisan Sourdough loaf $ 2 (wow!)
The artisan olive loaf $ 4(really nice, with good olive oil !)
They have an impressive wine selection & hard liquor too .
A nice cheese department, though this store seldom offers samples. Unusual for a Safeway .
It never «smells funny «. Things are neat .
Yes, the wilted produce is neatly stacked .
That about sums it up.
