The customer service at Santa Cruz Hydroponics is unsurpassed. I felt like I was taking the hydroponics class at Cabrillo. The guys are always super helpful and willing to get me even the most obscure products! They also play the best music I’ve never heard of!!!

This was my second time going to this store. It was really big! and they have so many different brands at all price ranges. Gabe the guy who helped me out greeted me at the door and answered all my questions going over everything and told me all I needed to know. He gave me the breakdown on the nutrients you need for all the cycles for growth. He was friendly and even though I came in a little before closing time he was still really helpfull and chatted with me. He made me feel comfortable and I walked out with a really good deal and a lot more knowledgable. If you sign up you get an instant coupon and save a lot on things in the future. I would check this place out if you are in the area.

These guys used to be awesome about 5 years ago. Now they just hire any punk know it all to get stoned and stand behind the counter. Do yourself a favor and drive to speciality In Watsonville, those guys way more knowledgeable and fair on price.

Called in looking for a seedling grow mat (48″ x 20″), they had it in stock and ready for me at the register. Also had a Unilocal 20% off deal. Heat mat ended up being cheaper than if I bought on Amazon AND I got it the same day AND I supported a local business. Me and my seedlings are very happy now!

Great store with awesome staff. The guys are really helpful and knowledgeable, not just out trying to sell you a bunch of products you don’t need. Definitely make this your first stop for all your hydroponic endeavors

i love everything about this store. ive never been to a store with such a good vibe and basicly everything i need for my garden. the service was very good. they keep the place nice and clean, and they didnt mind answering some weird/​dumb questions i had about some problems i was having at the time. they wernt pushy like some stores ive been to. seemed like they just genuinly want their customers to succeed and be happy. great place!

SC H&O is jahmazing!!! Gabe & Josh are super helpful & know a lot about their products! They have a great selection & the best part is they will match the price on products so why go anywhere else?! I have never had any problems with them or their products, I think this last guy has a stick up his ass :) It’s okay buddy, you’re one of many. Blessings to you! and SC H&O, you guys rock!

Went in on a Sunday looking for good organic plant food. Kurt (Curt?) helped out and was very professional. We were having problems with our house plants and told him about the problems. He totally set us up with some great products and great knowledge.
I am kind of surprised about the negative reviews here as I have shopped here before and never had a bad experience. They seem to really want to help and have the knowledge to do so.

I’ve been going to the Santa Cruz Hydroponics shop on Ingalls Street for almost a year now and I can’t tell you how helpful the guys there have been. The wealth of information they’ve shared with me has helped me grow my garden (both soil and hydro) from seed to fully mature adult with stellar results. When I go into SC hydro, I get one-​on-​one attention from people that really know what they’re talking about, both academically and from their own experience. These guys can tell you about every brand of fertilizer, fungicide and growth medium, from how it works to what your specific garden needs based on what’s happening with your plants. I’ve never left the store feeling like I wasn’t attended to and educated on what was best for my garden. In addition to the people at SC Hydro, I appreciate the low prices and wide selection of products. It’s great to see such a large selection of top quality brands because I know that I’m going to leave with the best product out there for the lowest price. That beats any online forum or website!

I went to Santa Cruz Hydro because they advertise themselves as the top hydro supplier in the area… What a joke. At first the guy at the counter seemed ready to help me, but as soon as I started talking to him he started hinting that they probably didn’t have a lot in stock that I wanted, and I might have better luck at their other location… He started to show me some products that might fit my needs, but we were quickly interrupted by a phone call which lasted about 10 minutes and when he was done, he had other customers to help… After helping his waiting customers he proceeded to forget that I was ever in the store in the first place and started chatting away with a young pretty girl who was in the shop… Well, he finally noticed I hadn’t gone away and was waiting for help when he looked up and said «so how’s it going man, can I help you with anything else?»…
Well, you never helped me with anything to begin with!!! Look, I’m not a stoner hippie type and when I walk into a store, I want professional help. This guys was too busy bumping the shop tunes and trying to get into this chicks pants to care that I wanted to spend $ 800 in his shop… Oh well.
And I did head over to the other location… I will be writing a review on that after this one. If you wanna save yourself some time though, don’t bother with SC Hydro. They suck. Both locations. I will be buying my gear online.

Finally had a really great experience in a retail store of any kind — seems kind of rare in general. Guy named Alec will blow your mind with his knowledge — is actually interested in soil biology and has grounded, educated information about the products he’s selling and trying to help you get the right stuff. Other than my general aversion to hydroponics stores and the marijuana culture surrounding them, there seem to be some things that only they carry, as if only those growing marijuana need them. I don’t know about the store in general, but if you talk to Alec, you’ll get a legitimate explanation of product differences and how to not get ripped off. Be wary of other sales reps, and people at the 41^st location — haven’t talked to such dumb people in a long time. The store carries products that range from outrageously expensive, to reasonable for what you’re getting. Kudos to the knowledgeable employees.
