Wow don’t believe the reviews on here seriously I cannot believe that crêpe place has 4 stars right now that’s ridiculous. Multiple visits to this place made me realize I am never coming back again and giving this place a chance. I really tried to like this place but really when it comes to it their food is crap, their service horrible and their events are mediocre and overpriced as usual. If you’re a freaking hipster then this is your niche. And people judge you if you’re not one. Bad sour cream. Cold Nutella crêpe. Giving food out to people at the table not at the same time. Weak mimosa like no alcohol in it. And then the bar tender judges you and doesn’t even give you a drink like whata hell?! I’ll give them two stars only for the good gigs they have once in a while and the food is not horrible. They usually charge cover too, I understand you gotta supper the local bands etc but eh they’re not a venue worth wasting money on.

The food was fresh and delicious! Highly recommended. The jambalaya crêpe and fresh fruit crêpe were our favorites. The wings, poppers and shoestrings appetizer was wonderful as well!

This place is amazing! It looks tiny from the outside but it is much bigger. The patio is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I recommend the mozzarella sticks, they are the best. Their chicken tenders are so crunchy and amazing. I am in love with this place! Im so in love with the appetizers and the service i already give this place 5 stars from that alone! Crepes have arrived & the waitress memorized each crêpe(with some special requests) and who they belong to. Mind you the restaurant is near full and i see 2 waitresses. They all taste so incredibly delicious. The service is wonderful. The ladies are so nice, sweet, and attentive. Our waters never got less than half full before being refilled.

Long story short, I would come back if I was craving crepes because this is the only place I know that sells crepes hah My friends and I came here with a reservation for 12. We had to wait 25 minutes to be seated because they said there was a couple sitting at the end of our table. The girl who took our order was really nice. She made sure to get everyone’s order correct and was patient with a lot of us who weren’t ready to order. I ordered the banana ramama but I replaced the bananas with strawberries instead. It comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and Nutella. Some of my friends ordered the funky monkey which is basically the same thing but instead of Nutella, it’s melted brown sugar. The only complaint I have is that it was way too sweet… The Nutella and crêpe ratio was so overwhelming. There was like a thin layer of crêpe and just like a cup full of Nutella everywhere. All of my friends agreed that our stomachs were feeling pretty bad after we finished eating. Customer service was great, everyone was friendly and nice. The crêpe was good but not the best.

Very good place. I like v much. I ordered chicken tenders and was promised a large amount. Paying eight dollars, I got 8 finely shaped chicken tenders with a side of ranch. That almost 1 dollar per tender! Sometimes life is just crazy like that. Almost forgot to mention that their employees are just fantastic. My cashier was a nice guy and the bartender was just a lovely woman. Anyways, I thought I would write a review since I enjoyed these tenders so much. I’m going to go enjoy my tenders, catch you guys on the flip side:)

Honestly, it bums me to write this review. This is a long time gem of Santa Cruz, my mom even worked here way back when, but the quality of service is lacking. I live near by and besides this place there is no decent place to go have a cocktail besides here nearby. I haven’t been here in a while and my boyfriend and I after dinner decided to walk over and have a drink. We arrived and there was a band playing. The person outside to take the money to see the band asked if we were here for the band. We politely said no we just came to have a cocktail after dinner. We were told that was not possible unless we paid the cover to see the band or wanted to sit in the back. We explained we really would only be there for one drink and wanted to sit and talk at the bar not a table outside(which would also take away from a server making money on a perfectly good table for people that wanted to eat) we were told nope. Sorry. So we left. The crêpe place always has bands which is fine by me. I should though be able to have a cocktail at a restaurant with a great bar without having to pay them to see a band I could give to shits about and have never heard of. Won’t have to worry about that anymore, we will not return.

This is a good local spot. I feel like crêpe places are hard to come by and this place does not disappoint. They have good food overall(my favorites are the fruit dessert crêpe and the chicken crêpe with pesto). Its one of the oldest restaurants in Santa Cruz and is a little gem. I like the outdoor seating. They also are open late and have live music sometimes.

I’m starting to have daydreams about this place since I went over the weekend with the guy. We were heading towards Santa Cruz and on the way, my boyfriend started describing a simple breakfast he was craving. A toasted sourdough, buttered generiously and eggs. I was on the same boat with the toast crave. Anyway, jump to arriving to the area. Parking was easy to find because we were there around 11 and none of the stores surrounding the restaurant was opened yet. A quick walk across the street and you see the green The Crêpe Place sign. I took a quick step back when I walked in because the front is a bar. Ohhhkay, a little different, but I like it. The hostess probably saw the confusion on my face and asked us to follow her to the back. Watch your step as you walk through the small hallway and in front of you is a home-y looking restaurant. We asked to get seated outside. The outside is gorgeous. We were seated next to a little zen garden like area. This place already had my attention. The menu was simple. You’ve got your crêpe choices, benedicts, omelette, and your average sausage/eggs side. I didn’t really read through that because once I saw the omelette, I had no need to look further. My boyfriend went with the CA Benedict and we decided to share a side of bacon. We sat with our orange juice and enjoyed the scenery and company. The food came out maybe 10 minutes later. I loved the way everything looked. The bacon was flat and crisp. The potatoes looked like it was full of flavor. And of course our entrée was no disappointment. He took the first bite of his potatoes and declared it the best potatoes he’s ever had for brunch, my expectations were high. And they were met. Indeed, they were the best potatoes I’ve had for brunch as well. My flavor and crispness criteria were met with these potatoes. First bite into our plates and we were in love. I usually don’t like olives at all, but it was perfect in the omelette. The avocado was mashed and were INSIDE the omelette. I love that! Instead of the trouble of trying to have the perfect ratio of the sliced avocados that usually come on top of an omelette at other place bite s, they did it for me and I had everything delicious in a bite. And that wasn’t all! On top of my omelette was the perfect toast that my boyfriend described earlier in the day. Sourdough toast?! That was buttered perfectly?! I had to give him half to let him enjoy his craving. It was so crunchy and delicious and buttery. I want to eat it everyday. Oh and lets not forget the bacon. Flavorful, crisp. I would eat that and the toast itself and be happy, tbh. Sides have never made me feel so happy. I had a bite of his benedict and I was a big fan as well. Both eggs were poached perfectly and hollandaise sauce was nice and light. 5⁄5 would recommend!

Living in this town my whole life, The Crêpe Place has always been a «staple» for our town, but I keep wondering why… So I’ll admit this review isn’t based on the typical dinner-type-savory crepes that comprise 75% of the menu. I’m not big on the idea of savory crepes, so this review is(slightly) impartial to those. So I went there with my husband to meet my mother-in-law and a couple of her friends for a concert. They got a table on the patio long before, and we met them there before the show to order a dessert crêpe. We sat down, looked over the menu, and decided on their Seasonal Fresh Fruit Crêpe. My husband asked«is it okay if we ask for it with the fruit inside the crêpe instead?» Immediately glad that picked someone that’s so in sync with me and read my mind, I forgot how truly strange that sounded. Why wouldn’t the fruit already be inside the crêpe? Isn’t that the standard? When we placed the order, the waitress seemed so weirded out that we made that request. «I mean, we top the crepes with fruit here, but I guess we could do that…» We somehow wound up with two waitresses, both who took our orders and were confused on why they were both taking our orders. Either way, they were nice and accommodating. Too bad I don’t base reviews on service! We got the crêpe, I peeked inside with my fork and found fruit, found the crêpe, and the ice cream was atop, but nothing else. I thought I read something about powdered sugar and butter? Guess not? The crêpe tasted… off. For starters, it was cold, like a little bit cooler than room temperature. The fruit was alright, and the ice cream was really good, but the crêpe was just plain strange. It was tough like chicken skin, but chewy and crispy at some parts and –old seeming. We’re talking about it and discuss saying something, and I decided against it because it wasn’t really anything she could do about it at that point. But when she came by, she asked me how the food was. So I couldn’t help but be honest. «I’m sorry but to be honest it wasn’t very good. The crêpe was cold and has the consistency of chicken skin.» «Oh wow! I’m really sorry to hear that!» «It seemed old» My husband interjected. «Well we make all of the crepes in the morning then reheat them throughout the day.» OH. She explained to us that the chefs make all of the crepes when they open, and they reheat them for each order. She explains that it «takes too long» to cook them individually throughout the day made to order, so they do it this way. On the streets of Tokyo you can buy a crêpe made to order for $ 2.50. They have kiosks with long lines, but they knock them out within two minutes. If it really takes them too long to make crepes individually, with that logic, wouldn’t it take any breakfast place in town too long to make pancakes, which are 10x thicker than a crêpe? My mother-in-law loves The Crêpe Place and called the next day to ask because she didn’t believe us and they confirmed it to her. I mean, you call yourselves THECREPEPLACE. I would expect that the one food in your restaurant name would be good and cooked on spot. And that really doesn’t seem like that much to expect?! I dunno, and honestly I don’t really care because I can get better crepes at IHOP and have no reason to come back to the so-called«Crêpe Place».

I love the Crêpe Place– sweet wait staff, full bar, lots of seating(indoor or in the magical garden!), good menu. Its a favorite place for lunch on rainy days(indoor), or a glass of wine with a friend on a sunny afternoon. I have to admit that I’ve had better crepes; these are hit & miss, and sometimes they can be really oily, which a nice crêpe should never be. But the fillings are good(I always get the spinich/feta), and the ingredients are fresh. Still, if I didn’t love the ambiance of the place I wouldn’t come on the merits of the food alone. But I do, because I love the Crêpe Place– the energetic pull, cozy feel, and long history somehow make up for the oily crepes. Entertainment is another great reason to come here. They have live music most nights, and the very cool Science on Tap(public science talks by UCSC researchers) once every month.

Yummy and lots of seating. You have to go through the bar seating to get breakfast. You can either sit in or outdoors in the garden, but either way you’re getting a pretty view of the garden. Food portions are large and are tasty. Ordered the crepes with seasonal fruit which were delicious. Whipped cream is a good choice with it. Also got a side of potatoes which were equally delicious. Atmosphere is good. Service is slow even with few patrons. Would come back.

this review is only for their brunch/lunch service as I’ve only come during the day so I have no idea how their dinner or live music/band service is. usually The Crêpe Place is THE place we come to have brunch before we go to the beach to catch some bodacious waves.(j/k. this skinny Asian chick don’t really do exercise of any kind. :)) The Crêpe Place is located on Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz. it’s in a rather low key area; not ghetto but much less of a crowded area than downtown Pacific Avenue. there’s a hanging sign outside so it’s not hard to miss if u know to look for it. we usually do street parking. there’s no meters unlike the downtown area so that’s a plus. when we got to The Crêpe Place last Sunday morning, there were already two parties ahead of us. this was new. usually we’re the only ones there in the morning so it’s really quiet n relaxing in the back garden area. man, all u peeps have found my secret brunch place! the place to have brunch is in their cute back garden/patio. it’s lush, full of greenery, n there’s a small pond also. don’t let the front dark n dingy dining area/bar fool u. there’s a hidden oasis in the back! the service is always friendly there. usually we get our dishes quite fast, but cuz of all the full tables that day, we had to wait around 20 minutes for our food. they do give complimentary corn muffins for each table now. this is new. so we munched on those til we finally got our food. our server did acknowledge our long wait n apologized for the slowness. Corn Muffins: each one is SO big. good to munch on before your entrées. there’s actual real yellow specks of corn inside! I like eating it with their butter. not warm but can’t b too picky with complimentary items. Eggs Benedict(half order): always LOVE ordering this dish! their egg is poached perfectly every single time. no inconsistency here. they always smother the eggs in hollandaise sauce which is such a welcome cuz I LOVE hollandaise sauce! at some restaurants, they can b quite stingy with that. 2 Egg Breakfast: scrambled eggs were done medium. not overly cooked. potatoes were seasoned well. they have all kinds of jam to use with the toast. we picked strawberry jam.

Review #500 for The Crêpe Place, sweet! Speaking of sweet, this spot is absolutely amazing, and deliciously sweet. No doubt they serve up some of the best crepes in Santa Cruz, if not one of the best I had in a long time. I made my way over here last week during my semi-yearly trip to Santa Cruz. I was craving a sweet meal before making my way over to the Mystery Spot, and this place happened to be just a mile away. I was instantly in love with the ambiance. It is situated in the back of a bar, which may seem weird at first, but it’s actually so awesome! Imagine walking into a bar, walking through the whole thing, and then going through a door that takes you into a completely different place. Once you pass that door, you enter the dining hall, which is one of the areas you can be seated; the other is the outside patio, which is by far the best part of the whole experience. It’s a huge patio! There’s a bunch of nature and so much space– which is the exact reason The Crêpe Place is also a music venue. Guys, they do Belly Dancing here! It’s a must see. Now, the food itself was just as good as everything else about this place. There’s a reason it’s called«The Crêpe Place», they make masterful crepes, and if the picture I posted doesn’t make you hungry, I don’t know what will. Also, pro tip: the crepes usually don’t come with so much fruit, so I highly suggest getting a side order(the fruit in the separate bowl in my picture). It is well worth the extra few bucks. Final verdict: The Crêpe Place offers not only incredible food, but also serves as a music venue. The service here is quick, and you really can’t ask for a much better ambiance than they offer in the patio. It’s a place you definitely should check out in the Santa Cruz area.

I’ve been eating at the Crêpe Place since they first opened at the old Cooper House years and years ago and it’s always been one of my favorite places for weekend brunch and lunch. Until today. I usually love the blintz with strawberry jam and as a New York Jew, I know my blintzes. Today they served some ugly blob of, I don’t even know what to call it, with defrosted frozen raspberries and clumps of what might have been their excuse for strawberry jam. It was pretty sad. And bad. And the tables were situated so that when a guy sat at the next table the hood from his sweatshirt fell on to my plate. I had to ask him to get up and move his chair so I could climb out when it was time to leave. A sad and sorry experience. I hope today was not an indication of what they’ve become.

We stopped in on a Sunday for a family brunch. We were greeted by a friendly-ish hostess that wasn’t to thrilled that we wanted a table for six outside. It felt like a hassle to get our table. But we were accommodated. We were pleasantly surprised by the outdoor seating area. Very very nice, except for the plastic chairs. The menu was almost over whelming. So many awesome sounding choices. Everyone at the table ordered different items and everyone enjoy their meals. Our only issue was the the what seemed an unorganized staff. Our drinks walk by our table a few time before we got em, and it was the same with our meals. In short we will be back to enjoy a few drinks and dessert in the garden.

Ladies drink at the bar while working. Absolutely unprofessional. Ordered a pollo Verde crêpe. It was about 4 stars. What really bothered me was that no one wanted to help us, as we were out on the patio. I’d have ordered a dessert but of course, no help.

I hate to leave a bad review for a local place that so many people love, but the last time I ate here I got sick from the food. Today we went for brunch and my breakfast crêpe was cold. When I say cold I mean zero warmth, like it had been sitting out for a really long time. It was almost as if it had been put in the fridge. We had a large party and I didn’t want to be a complainer, so I just pretended it was fine. I absolutely can’t trust their food safety and won’t ever go back unless it’s just drinks. 2 stars for the outdoor dining and the blood marys.

Came here for Sunday lunch because I’ve great things. Very nice ambiance and setting, both indoor and in the outdoor garden. Menu looked good too. That’s as far as we got though… after waiting 15+ minutes for someone to even take our drink order, we just got up and left. It’s like they sat the 4 of us down at a table outside then forgot us… even though three staff members were outside attending to other tables. I’ll for sure try this place again, but unfortunately not a great first impression.

Long overdue review of this place; overall my girlfriend and I enjoyed this place, I got a plate with 3 crepes(can’t remember the name) but they were really skinny. Skinnier than your average crêpe, but they were good. My girl got the Benedicts, the little burger looking things with the eggs. Those were really good! Overall I’d return to this place, the food, and the environment were really good. We also had a small chat with the cooks because we loved the way they made our diced potatoes(definitely a must get), but I wouldn’t get the crepes they’re too thin for what I paid for.

I am so glad I found this place when I was in Santa Cruz. Seriously cannot get enough of their crepes! I fell in love with the vibe of the place: good music, good drinks, good eats! Eat outside if it is a sunny day because it will only add to your experience. If you order any entrée crêpe, it comes with honey-wheat bread and a salad or soup. I had the Turkey crêpe that came with a side of cranberry sauce just to try something adventurous! If you have trouble finding the perfect combo, they have their«Create-a-Crêpe» option where you can select any ingredients you’d like. Raspberries? Pecans? Feta? Pesto? The list goes on and on. Most crepes run between $ 8-$ 11. If you read their menu, they also have an amazing survival story that is told in detail about how they’ve managed to maintain themselves through rock slides, earthquakes, and just about every natural disaster that can happen in California. It is great to see that a place like this has maintained itself through years of adversity.

This place is expensive and you don’t get that much food for what you’re paying for. I’ve been to other crêpe places that serve so much more food for cheaper prices than this place and the quality of the crepes at other places are better too. I’ve been here a few times and have always been annoyed by how pricy it is for what little you get. If you want a fancy dinner, there are better places to go in Santa Cruz.

I got the fruit crêpe with yogurt to go. At first when I opened the box I was disappointed by the lack of fruit, but there was more inside the crêpe itself. After finishing, it felt like just enough. Not so much as to be stuffing, but enough to satisfy hunger. I gave four stars because the crêpe itself was lackluster. Tasteless, dry, definitely need a drenching of syrup to compensate and I don’t normally like syrup on my pancakes/French toast/etc. I also enjoy my crepes to be warm/hot and it came cold, but that is my bad for not specifying my preference. I did enjoy the fruit-which was blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries. It was fresh and crisp. No sour piece in the medley. The waitress who helped fill my order was also very friendly.

The Crêpe Place is a Santa Cruz institution and part of many local’s tradition for Birthdays, nights out with friends and ladies brunches. The back yard is very nice and you can bring your dog which is why I gave it 4 instead of 3 stars. I really love that I rarely run into gaggles of tourists here regardless of whether it is summer or a weekend as well Another great thing about The Crêpe Place is its ability to accommodate large groups. Most of the tables in the back are well suited for groups and they do a nice job giving special care to parties. All that being said, the service at the Crêpe Place is pretty horrible. Half of the waitresses seem to be pretty low on the intelligence scale. For example, they will ask if you want something you pretty obviously would want and then never come back with it. You are also likely to be served by a variety of bus boys, hostesses and your waitress during a single meal. The food is also solidly ok. I love crepes… it is hard to screw up a crêpe to me. However, the crêpe place pretty much always delivers a giant soggy mound for a crêpe. I would rather have less food but more thought and care put into it. They have a bunch of different non-crêpe dishes that look pretty good, but I haven’t tried them because I love crepes and won’t turn my back on them even if I’ve had a few soggy ones.

I came in for a few drinks while waiting on the Italian place near by. The wait staff nearby all recommended this place. I showed up before the live music and was treated to a good experience. The young lady Ashley was tending the bar. She was quick to acknowledge. Friendly and hustling she was. I elected to order a beverage off their specialty menu. Ordered a McLovin. Bourbon, ginger beer, lemon lime. A nice drink. Stiff and not overly sweet. The drink was nice. Ordered a second one to which I had to rush through. None the less both of the McLovin drinks were good. Bill was settled quick. Good: Ashley was friendly efficient and made a great drink Bad: I planned eating next door so I didn’t get a chance to try this place for it’s food. I hear it was good. I will have to come back.

This place makes me sad. Why? Because I don’t live in Santa Cruz and I can’t come here every freakin’ weekend. Everything was amazing. The patio, the server, the FOOD, the bloody mary, the atmosphere, the location. I got the crab benedict and it blew my mind. The hollandaise wasn’t too heavy, the crab was bountiful, the English muffin was perfectly toasted. The potatoes were also perfectly cooked with rosemary and the most incredible crunchiness. Seriously. I’m so glad we came here. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town.
