Coffee and breakfast burritos were good. Service was a bit slow but there was a huge rush right when we arrived

Very open and spacious coffeehouse with plenty of seating for readers, writers, meetings, and everything in between. It was amazing how many people came through here as I sat and read there on a Sunday morning. The coffee is good and perfectly aromatic. The people watching was fun as well.

It’s nice to have a little piece of Portland in NM. When we left the Pacific Northwest for the desert Southwest we were afraid that we’d miss out on good coffee but Betterday carries Stumptown so it was practically manna from heaven. Their treats are tip top as well!

Music this morning is raucous. I think they’ve been playing the same thing since I arrived 2 hours ago. I put on my headset and played my own. They could use a small table by the couch. Coffee is good, but the music is way too loud.

This is the best iced mocha I have found in Santa Fe so far. Also, the food was delicious and relatively fast. Service was also fast… There were probably 10 people in line before us and we were up at the counter within just a few minutes. The vibe was chill, there were lots of people there on a beautiful Sunday morning. Felt like I’d been transported out of New Mexico somehow. But they make a damn good breakfast burrito so that snapped me back home. I also love that they serve their drinks in Mason jars! it’s just really cute.

Went in to this coffee shop because of Unilocal reviews. Place look like a concrete cave, cold and uninviting. Booths and tables run down art on walls amateurish hippie crap. Staff uninterested and rude. Coffee overpriced and no sweet treats to go along with it. Couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there.

Definitely my favorite coffee in town. The new menu is surprisingly good. I do have to agree that it is not the most comfortable place, but i still prefer it over most of the other places in town.

This place is seriously THEWORST. Not only does their coffee consistently taste like lukewarm dish water, but it’s served to you by filthy, rude, snotty jerks. Unfortunately, Betterday is the epitome of useless hipster garbage. I was once sitting at the bar with a friend when one of the baristas went to the stereo and started blasting metal(a band I love, actually.) But what I don’t love is having to shout out a conversation at a coffee shop. When I asked him to turn it down, he gave me a sardonic sort of «fuck you» look, finished his drink, had a snack, washed his hands, then finally turned the music down. I keep trying to give Betterday the benefit of the doubt every time I go, but I am exponentially more disappointed with each visit. This place is a one minute walk from my house, yet I would actually rather get in my car and drive the extra ten minutes to Iconik.

Excellent and friendly baristas, good food, great coffee, lovely treats, good WiFi, a constantly revolving display of local art, and periodic live music all make BetterDay a great place to hang out. The music choices are good(perhaps a bit loud for folks of older generations), and the big open garage-type door makes for a breezy and airy feeling during nice weather. There are often dogs tied up out front, people chatting and reading the paper, and a general laid back feeling of being in a coffee shop that truly knows what it’s doing. With an expanding food menu and awesome Stumptown coffee beans, they’ve carved a place in many Santa Feans’ hearts.

This was certainly a welcome surprise in choosing my Santa Fe coffee venue. Although Betterday Coffee is located in a slightly danky and unattractive shopping plaza, this venue clearly defines the cliché of «don’t judge a book by its cover.» First off, the ambiance here can get to be festive, even early. If I had one word to describe it, it would be «hippiesh.» Not that being hippiesh is a bad thing. Seems like a local hangout for local business owners, personal trainers, travelers like myself, and hippies. Now, the product is pretty good. The male barista informed me that his expresso machine usually pumps out more, yet today’s cup seemed to be ¾ full for the four shots that I was served. I ordered three, yet it comes in fours. Breakfast items are available from fresh muffins(they should keep the glass cover on) to burritos. For today, I chose a red and green chili breakfast burrito, yet I didn’t taste much of the green chili. More red than anything. The WiFi here is very good. If I had one complaint, its that the concrete seating puts a slight strain on your butt if you aren’t careful. While there are pillows for you to sit on, you can actually feel the cool concrete of the seats. Its different, yet useful whenever the other seating areas toward the front are occupied. Pretty good customer service from the baristas that actually take the time to talk with you rather than at you. I’ll certainly be back upon my return to Santa Fe.

I’ll probably get flack for this description, but this is as punk rock as a coffee shop can get. I dug the atmosphere, the artwork, just the whole vibe. Their cold-brew is on a point and a definite boost without the«my heart is going to explode» feeling.

I got an herbal iced tea which was very tasty. I was gonna get an espresso but they use Stumptown?! That’s like the Starbucks of third wave coffee. With all of the local and regional roasters popping up I can’t support that bandwagon. A pour over was wayyy overpriced too, like 6 bucks. Please, I’ll make one at home.

stumptown beans & properly trained baristas = the best & most consistent coffee & espresso drinks in santa fe. the execution of the pour-over is sometimes erratic but that could easily be improved by training the folks up. the staff is super nice & genuine, the décor & vibe endearingly home-style. the new menu is super delicious! santa fe’s best breakfast burrito by far! the BD uses all local ingredients right down to the flour in the tortilla(baked fresh daily). incredible that in 2015 a real commitment to local foods is so unusual in a supposedly cosmo place like santa fe. in fact, very few santa fe chefs are real about farm to table. it takes courage to manifest a new vision in the«city dif.» the better day is doing it, with integrity, & the food rocks. major kudos.

I was only able to stop in for a quick coffee before I went to meet my family for dinner down the road, however it was delicious and the gal at the counter was very sweet. The staff seemed to keep busy and the place had a decent crowd which usually is a good sign. The wait for my coffee wasn’t long at all and the selection of goods to purchase were fun to look at while I checked the place out a little. It’s just down the street from my house, so I’ll come back for sure and stay a little longer.

This is one coffee shop in town that I am so uncomfortable going into. The baristas all seem to be so pretentious and unwelcoming. They look at you like«who are you and why are you here?» I have been on the verge of almost walking out because of the way I was treated. Instead I opted to get my drink to go. I was hoping that this was a one time bad experience, but every time I have tried«better day» they have treated me the same way. I have decided to take my business elsewhere. It is unfortunate because the coffee is decent, but nothing makes up for service like that.

This is the pure old school coffee shop experience, before coffee shops got fancy and pretentious. If you want that, this is not your place. But if you want good coffee, coupled with that old world Santa Fe charm, you won’t be disappointed. The food is not just amazing, but local, organic and best of all, the staff knows the origin of the menu. I came here for breakfast everyday that I was in Santa Fe!

I have to reserve rating this place until after I come back and try the pourover coffee and the lunch items. For the record, the burritos and sandwiches that I saw prepared while at the café looked pretty solid, and fresh. I ordered a 12 oz latte, and it was good, but nothing special, considering everyone’s rave reviews about how this place makes Stumptown and knows how to prepare it well. However, it also rated good, instead of having the gross burnt espresso taste popularized by Starbucks, so credit is due. I’ll admit that I’m probably hyper-critical in this respect, since it annoys me when people have an attitude that Washington has a corner on good coffee and microbrews, and generally wish all my espresso drinks were prepared at a Chicago Intelligentsia, you know, if I’m not fortunate enough to be living it up in Italy or something :-P My primary detraction about this place is that it seems pricey. An extra shot of espresso is $ 1, and they don’t automatically do double pulls on 12 oz drinks. Considering that it’s in my gastrointestinal tract’s interest to limit milk, $.75 for a milk substitution bumps the cost of a 12 oz double latte with almond or soy milk to $ 5.50, and this location isn’t even that close to the touristy Plaza area! Also, a 10 oz pourover well set you back $ 5.25, and that’s not even the reserve/premium option. These prices are enough to make me regret being too lazy to hand-grind my own beans and make coffee in my Chemex at home. These prices might be standard in the Bay Area, or the Northwest, but this is the Southwest, even if it is Santa Fe… Although I’m not a huge person to judge on ambience, preferring to rate places on the food taste, quality, and value, I think it’s important to mention at cafes, since many enjoy working out hanging out at green for longer periods of time. Betterday’s ambience is a mixture of rustic contemporary(metal, time flies made to resemble concrete, rough wooden tables). There is some outdoor seating, and several outlets. The atmosphere is more down-to-earth/less pretentious than other«next generation» cafes, but there’s definitely a hipster vibe.(Take that as good or bad, depending on your preferences.) The music is a little bit loud for my taste. Random practical notes: There’s parking, yay! There are plenty of outlets. Unfortunately the food menu items aren’t posted on a chalkboard, so you can’t decide while waiting in line, which sometimes is surprising long, though not slow.

This is the place to go for espresso in Santa Fe, hands down. I am a former barista and I spent seven weeks here in last summer. I tried every joint in town, but this was the place I found myself going to all the time. It’s the real deal. Do yourself a favor and skip Ohori. All of their drinks are made correctly and with lots of care. They are the only coffee house in New Mexico that uses Stumptown beans(from Portland) for their coffee and espresso. You can also purchase the(freshly roasted!!!) beans for your own coffee brewing at home. Order the cortado(off menu). Just do it. It will change your life. Sparkling water on tap. Rad. The food is very filling and wholesome. I love the dank burrito and the wheat toast with homemade jam. The décor is great. I love the use of upcycled wood for tabletops and the Mexican blankets for cushions. Usually they’re playing some great tunes. To the reviewers saying that the baristas are snobby, lighten up. Everyone who works here is perfectly fine once you start a conversation with them, and the owner is passionate about his business.

I was a barista for 7 years, have lived in SF, NY and LA. This is the real espresso spot in sante fe — completely beats out ohori(tried it, burnt the milk and they use a crappy espresso machine) when it comes to espresso drinks. Order a cortado(off menu). The milk was the correct temperature and the shot was extracted properly. La marzocco machine, mazzer grinders, sparkling water tap, rad adobe-style booths. Also, the staff was friendly and funny. They also have free wifi with a password that pays homage to the big lebowski — Love this place!
