Cities of Gold Hotel

I’m trying to check into this hotel right now, and a manager-​type is not happy that I booked on
. He told me, with a tone, that it would «take some time to enter in the information» on the computer. So I sit in the lobby and wait. He’s busy helping other customers and not bothering to get more help up front. Rude and unprofessional.

Stayed here off and on throughout the month of June. Hotel is undergoing some upgrades, staff is nice, and wifi is mediocre. My major complaint is with their accounting department, which bills your credit card 2 months AFTER you check out. In talking with their manager I was told their bank doesn’t charge the credit card until they establish communication with my credit company. This is complete B.S. as other stays at this hotel posted to my account within 2 days. In over 10+ years of business travel I have always had charges posted to my accounts within 2 – 3 business days.

Well, I’m laying on my king bed watching TV for bit right now and it’s nowhere near the bad reviews I’ve read. I’m paying $ 65 or something night for two nights. It’s clean if not new, big room, big clean bathroom, huevos for breakfast was yummy, they give you two free drink vouchers a day, for the price it’s comparable to most La Quinta’s and the like. Now, the casino across the way I just peeked into. It’s more than a little seedy, filled with retirees filling the days.

This is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff were not very attentive and preoccupied with everything else but checking me in. The room was dingy and very basic. The room was hot when we walked in and took a while to cool off. Walked over to the casino for the buffet and was not impressed. We did not eat since the food looked as if it had been under the warmers all day. Wifi was not apple friendly on iPhones and MacBooks. Had breakfast the next day. Absolute worst bfast ever, ordered the special of steak and eggs. Steak looked like it was from yesterday and dried out. My eggs were cooked in the same pan as the steak since they were brown. The hash browns must have been from the day prior since they were also dried out. No wonder they sell it for $ 5.95 how else are they going to sell it.

We stayed at the hotel on Good Friday 2014. This hotel is very close to the Santuario De Chimayo. On Good Friday, Catholics from far and wide make a journey to this sacred place. Most people walk to it, others drive. My family and I walked from the Nambe entrance. Last year, after our walk, the drive home was very tiring, so we decided to rent a room here. The outside is nice, the lobby is decent. The rate on this night was $ 75 dollar. I wasn’t expecting much because of the rate. When we checked in, we were greeted, but without a smile. The front desk person seemed like she’d worked a long day, and didn’t want to be there. The clerk next to her, he was smiling and greeting his customers the way he should have. Oh well, no big deal. We checked in and went to our room. The room was very basic. 2 double beds, a TV, lamps, bathroom and a computer table. Again, very basic for a $ 75 rate. We had dinner at the restaurant on site, Gold Dust Café. Very good NM dish. We enjoyed out food. The salsa was fresh, and so was the guacamole. The waitress here was very nice. The next day, we ordered breakfast burritos and checked out… Guess who was there, the grumpy lady that checked us in the day before. She acted the same way, and treated us the same way. All in all, for the rate, I’d stay here again. The next time, we’re going to try to check out the entertainment across the street at the casino. This time, we were too tired.

Worst hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Came here for a wedding near by and had no idea what we were walking into. Checked in and the first room had mold all over the bathroom. Tried to find another hotel last minute but nothing. We were stuck. They gave us another room that was mold free but still not nice at all. We brought towels for a pool BBQ we were going to; luckily because the towels were dirty and stained. Went for breakfast at the restaurant here and it was not worth the money. I will not recommend this place ever!!! August 22^nd. 2013

Won’t do THAT again. Seemed close enough to the casino… until we walked over. Batteries we missing from the remote, heater didn’t really work. Requested a king; stayed in two doubles. Place was dingy; even though they talked of a recent remodel. At best equal to motel 6. Not at all what we expected or had hoped that would be. Sad. Generous one star. Above everything avoid the buffet!!!
