I understand this is a nice place. It’s attractive. The waitstaff was elegant and attentive. White lights in big ficus figs in the room. Open. Reservations required. But really– I just didn’t love it. We were walk ins. We were offered a small table out in the hotel hall just set outside of the threshold of the dining room. There were about 5 of these little set ups for we who walked in without reservations. I felt like a kid in the hall at school. I didn’t love that. The table was so small it couldn’t handle the menu and bread basket and wine list, I had to juggle them all over. Oh the struggle. Lol but truly it was kinda a buzz kill. I refused the offer of the table at first hut ended up having to go back and take it bc the rain. Humbled. Food was ok. I probably got the wrong thing trying to eat light. I will say– the tortilla soup was exceptionally well done. I really like the presentation. It was pretty good. Kept feeling there were much better places but we were not there long.

Situated inside a mini upscale shopping mall, attached to the La Fonda hotel, La Plazuela Dining Room serves up some delicious burgers and offers many other items on their menu. The faux open-air décor is beautiful with a definite Southwest flare. You’ll definitely have the feeling of al fresco dining and enjoy the ambiance. Wait service was also top notch. Weekdays are the best in Santa Fe… we had no wait for a table at noon. Awesome!

When we came here for dinner the service was way better than lunch time. I asked for bottled water no ice, took the waiter 10min to bring it and of course with a glass of ice. I asked for bread instead of chips it came on a plate instead of a basket. I poured my own water since they did not bother to do it. The food is good but the service during lunch was bad so I will not give a good tip.

Great northern New Mexico food. The Rellenos de la Fonda were excellent. Wife’s enchiladas were outstanding. Red or green? Green, of course. The service and atmosphere very good.

I always like to have at least one meal here if possible when I visit. The restaurant is located inside the La Fonda hotel. The concierge at our hotel had made dinner reservations for my. mom and I for a Sunday night. Fortunately we were in the area that afternoon and stopped in and my mom went to. confirm or reservation… which they had no record of. Not a big deal as they were able to add us in for the time we wanted but it works have been a bummer if we hadn’t checked, showed up and then ended up having to wait a long time for a table. Our service at dinner was pretty good. My mom and I split a salad and then the chicken fajitas for two. Overall the food was pretty good and we enjoyed that the dinner cme with sopapillas which were super yummy. The restaurant is very pretty also.

Was about a 20 minute wait waiting for a table(not bad at all). Well worth it! A perfect place to have a Margarita after a long day of walking and being a tourist in Santa Fe. The food was excellent, it came to our table a lot faster then expected. Not one complaint.

We first visited La Plazuela in December 2014 for lunch and liked it. This trip to Santa Fe we stayed in La Fonda and took many meals(breakfasts and lunches) at La Plazuela. The restaurant offers a wide variety of New Mexican dishes, all were excellent. Over 4 days we had huevos rancheros, omelet with green chilies, waffles, pancakes, and regular eggs. Everything was very well prepared, with lots of fresh ingredients and good flavors. For lunch I had the green chile cheeseburger twice, since it was so good. I highly recommend La Plazuela.

First visit so I say judge for yourself. I’d like to eat here 5 times then review but it’s not going to happen. Jorge was the BEST server… Attentive, knowledgeable about menu, sommelier(probably not but he plays one on TV). Well mannered and professional. You would think he owned this place(perhaps he does). Food: EV-ER-E-THINGWASEXCELLENT. Even the pickles on the burger plate were good. Trout was symphony on a dish, burger fabulous, sweet potato fries, roasted potatoes, Mac and cheese to write home about and… Well… Come and order dessert.

Meh. I got my favorite soup — the wickedly good corn chowder(which they now offer in a cup, and I am thankful!) and this time it tasted kindof old. I also got the house salad, and I was all excited for some fresh veggies, and it tasted like anchovies. Boo! Blech! I love the ambience though! Service was okay. Not great. I think I hit these guys on a bad day. I’ll review again after my next adventure.

We were staying at the hotel and thought we’d give it a try. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. Dishes could have used more green chili sauce and more heat. Loved the corn chowder! Service was fantastic though!

The food is expensive here!(Main entrees being anywhere from 17 – 30 dollars) Though, the place is gorgeous and so cute! It’s an indoor courtyard, with every window pane hand painted! It’s really lovely! Because of the pricing, I had the Tortilla Soup which was 8 dollars. It was delicious! But I probably wouldn’t come here again unless someone else was paying X)

AVERAGECUISINE, GENEROUSPORTIONS — La Fonda is a grand old hotel and La Plazuela is a grand old dining room. The food here is rather average, we had fajitas in several variations and chile rellanos. Portions are generous and each dish came with several sides and generous baskets of tortillas and sopaipillas. The wine list and service was very good. A pleasant evening but no raves for the cuisine.

We were staying here, so had several meals here, which we wouldn’t have if the food wasn’t good. Dinner was delicious Southwest, huge portions. 2 chile rellenos AND black beans, AND pork posole. All yummy. 2 tamales with the same accompaniments. We also ordered salads, and our friend ordered the guacamole prepared tableside, enough for 4 – 6 people! That was our downfall. Good service except that the salads were oddly brought before the guac. Lunch was the buffet, not exciting, but for not much time very good. Breakfast was excellent, fruit plate huge, blue corn and piñón pancakes to die for(and huge). All in all, really good hotel food, and if you share meals, which you easily could(we should have), very affordable. And the setting is gorgeous!

I have eaten at many restaurants serving New Mexican cuisine and this has always been one of the best. On this occasion I had combination platter for lunch that had a chili relleno, tamale and enchilada. The relleno is the best one in Santa Fe and Albuquerque with a batter that is flavorful and remains crisp under the green chili. The tamale and enchilada were also delicious. I like the fact that they offer black beans as an option. The ambiance is nice because it’s located in a historic hotel. Highly recommend. I look forward to eating there again.

Loved the natural lighting from the skylights. It made the restaurant quaint, inviting, and casual. Perfect for a sit down meal after a walk around the plaza. Came here for a late lunch while visiting the plaza. We were seated right away. Our server was attentive the whole time which made our dining experience amazing. I ordered the combo(approx $ 17) which gave me one of all the things I wanted to try out: Pork Tamale, Cheese Enchilada and Chili Relleno.(pretty big portion, I would have been happily full sharing it) You also had a choice of whether you wanted green, red, or Christmas(both) chili on your food. I picked Christmas. Our food came out in a timely manner and they were received fresh and hot. I was glad I got the combo because I enjoyed all three of them. The outstanding one for me was the Chilli Relleno, it tasted delicious and fresh. The entrée also comes with sopapillas. Loved them here. The deep fried bread had a sweet taste to them and made even sweeter when dipped in honey. Could have had just the sopapillas as my meal and I would have been a happy camper. Would definitely recommend this place if you are in the vicinity. Good food at generous portions with great service is a bookmark for future visits for me.

I have no complaints about this wonderful little restaurant tucked inside of La Fonda. Natural light oozes through skylights and filters throughout the colorful painted glass and carved painted archways– the setting alone is just pleasing as can be. The food this trip was also delicious, and made to order. I tried the Eggs Oaxaca and skipped the cheese, no problem. The Blue Corn Piñon pancakes and French toast were also amazing on day two. This little spot is sure to please!

The dining room at La Fonda is pretty good! The food is actually pretty good, and the service would get 5 stars if I rated it alone. I feel that the food can be a little redundant here, but it’s still delicious. I’ve now had the chile relleno and the trout. Both times, the food was pretty good, but not the best I’ve had for either of those. Does that make sense? Definitely try the tableside guacamole! Still, if you’re staying at La Fonda, it’s definitely a convenient place to go.

Now this place fills you up for a decent price. I was in town for a meeting and wanted to try out this place. I didn’t have reservations, but it wasn’t busy yet and I was seated no problem. The ambiance is very relaxed and open. Warm chips and salsa to start, and I had the La Plazuela Combination for under $ 20. When the dish came out, I thought it was a monster. So much food on a huge plate(plus sides) — I stood no chance at finishing it all, so I had a bit of everything before packing it up. My favorite part of the dish was the chile relleno — so good, so juicy, so perfect. The batter was just the right amount, and all the flavors were balanced so well. They asked if I wanted dessert but… I can only eat so much!

This could be the best Mexican restaurant in town. It’s also very convenient located right off the plaza. You will need a reservation as it fills up quickly. The food and drinks are very good and very fresh. The service is attentive. The staff is friendly and really caring… they get to know you. They have really good specials, for instance, when I was there they had a prime rib special for $ 26, loaded with all the extras. Not bad! But don’t be fooled — this is a high-quality Mexican restaurant, steps from the plaza. Try their specials or their specialty dishes — you will not be disappointed — an excellent place!
