If I could give 0 stars I would. We got completely ripped off here — my wife was examining an item that was CLEARLY broken before, but we were charged in spite of this. Because i am civilized I paid instead of storming out but regardless do not shop here if you want to be treated fairly. This is a hokey tourist trap that no one should enter.

This store is fun to browse, but nowhere near as good as the one in Albuquerque – which is probably 20 times the size. This one has a few higher grade items (similar to Touchstone Gallery), but not as much variety and not much for children. The prices – while not outrageous – are a bit high.

Shout out to the small child who knocked over a $ 4,000 crab fossil and their parents had to pay for it. Quick tip — don’t take your kids here unless they’re on a leash.
The store itself is beautiful and it has a lot of neat (if overpriced) treasures. It’s kind of like a wizard’s hidden cave. I was almost too upset by the fossil tragedy I witnessed to purchase anything, but managed to shell out $ 30 for a turquoise string. I’ll always remember Mama’s minerals. Note to management, maybe pick a name that sounds less child friendly.

I bought unprocessed ruby pieces, aqua marine, and stone bowls. I am not sure if I was overcharged but the store has beautiful things and customer service is excellent. I really enjoyed both my visits.

Mama likes to rob my wallet. This place is over the top expensive. Any tourist – cause a local wouldn’t spend their money here – would be paying for the ability to say, «I got this in Santa Fe» with a snobby voice. The fossils and beautiful New Mexico section is great to look at and would only hope to find these insitu. The stringed beads are enticingly beautiful, with a wall covered in blues, greens, purples, pinks, fossils and gems. I am definitely a gem girl, but it’s not worth it. Back away from the store. Your savings account and future children will thank you.

Although the store is a modest size, there are some incredible geodes, natural stone pieces, and one-of-a-kind rocks and gems in a variety of sizes. Jerry helped me find just the right stones for a jewelry project and was all around delightful!
