You cannot do much better than Cecil Touchon curating collage if you are a fan of the medium, and that is what makes this gallery so special. Cecil has been making collage since the 80’s and is an acknowledged master. Unlike the glossy refinement of many gallery offerings in town, the work in Nisa Touchon Fine Art is invigorating in its rawness, spontaneity and just plain good looks. Found materials are inherently interesting and collage artists are often great with composition. The gallery is off the beaten path (though an easy 5 mins drive with plenty of parking) and a wonderfully unique offering. What a refreshing addition to the Santa Fe art scene!

I enjoyed the range of approaches to collage at this new gallery (and in the collage museum upstairs). If you are visiting Santa Fe, it is absolutely worth the little bit of a drive from the center of town to see work that is so engaging. And if you happen to live in Santa Fe, lucky you! This gallery should be on anyone’s itinerary who appreciates smart, contemporary artwork in mixed media. I look forward to visiting again next time I’m in town and seeing how the exhibit program evolves over time. Very exciting!
