Was looking for a place to recycle my computer battery, to make copies and to hopefully find a spot to get online before I got internet at home. First time I went in and asked if they recycled computer parts, the girl behind the counter in the print area helped everyone around me, even though I was in line. I waited patiently and thought: maybe they’ve been here and she’s finishing up jobs with them. No biggie. I finally had to interrupt and ask if they did in fact recycle computer parts, she looked at me like I’d asked her if they had flights available to the moon. I asked again, I have a computer battery here, do you recycle these? She said, yeah we’ll take it. I said a big thank you and smiled. Great!!! OH and they don’t have internet access, when I asked she looked at me like I was asking for something that did not exist, anywhere, and said ‘No’. Second time, the same girl who is behind the counter in the print shop area is even more unbearably rude. I walk in with a smile on my face, say hello, she barely looks at me… I go to the self serve copy machine insert my card and wait and wait and wait… and wait. The machine is stuck on wait, to get my card to go through. I turn to see if she’s busy, she just finished helping someone, I say ‘excuse me, this machine seems stuck can you help me?’ She says(with a crap attitude) ‘if you need black and white copies use the other machine, if you need color copies I can do it here’…doesn’t wait for my answer and starts to help someone else… OK…I say ‘I need color copies’ no response… I then raise my voice level a notch thinking she didn’t hear me, because with her stellar customer service skills she’s still across the room…‘The machine is telling me to wait, I don’t want my card to go through and have it used by someone else’…(is that out of line?) she barely turns around, meanwhile the woman she was helping says to her ‘I think she still has a question’ meaning me(that was nice!) she turns her head and looks at me with a look like she just took an enormous bite of a shit burger… she says ‘well then wait for it to stop’…I say ‘i’ve been standing here for 5 minutes already, should I stand here for another 20?’ she shrugs her shoulders and continues to help her customer. WOW. I got my picture, I just needed one copy, and left. I called the ‘manager’ immediately and told him it was the 3rd time she was very rude to me and she either needs to be fired or re-trained. He sounded less than concerned and said ‘yea, i’ll talk to her’ Don’t waste your time at this store. I went to the FedEx shop 2 blocks away and they were much nicer, much more helpful. Super helpful. Went by there this morning and they were great. I was just having some documents scanned and put on a thumb drive, and they really brng over backwards yo help me, but the thing that impressed me most was how thorough they were

I shop often at the Office Depot at the DeVargas Mall. I do it only because it is nearer to my home than any other office supply stores. I can truthfully say that I have almost never had a good experience in the store. No one seems to know anything, and few workers seem interested in helping customers. One time when a worker reluctantly consented to go up a ladder and get something for me, he held it up and waited for me to climb the ladder and take it! I climbed the ladder. I am in my seventies! No one seemed to think that was strange customer service.

Oooh, really snarky people today. First, totally incorrect information from a cocky salesguy and then a most-perfunctory«Did you find what you wanted?» from the checkoutgal. A single experience isn’t enough data, but we’ll be carefully observing next time.
