Stay away! They ruined my hair. I am visiting from out of town and had my color formula in my phone. First, they questioned it and I should have walked out then, since I have the same formula for 10 years. I travel a lot for work so need to find good salons in every city. Sabrina was my colorist and the base she gave me did not match my hair. My hair color is a rich dark blonde and my roots are now dark brown. This is the worst color I have every gotten. And, to top it of when I got home I realized they didn’t rinse all the color out-its all sticky underneath. Really bad.

Like the reviewer below, I too am surprised at all the negative reviews. However, I have only been once and can only speak to that experience. The stylist I had, Jessi, did a fantastic job, and the receptionist was sweet. I feel confident recommending Jessi, and would go back to see her again. Oh, and tip this girl Santa Fe people! That is how service people make a living wage!

I read the other reviews and was really surprised that so many were not good. I’ve always had good luck there, especially with LeaAnn. They are my go-to place for a good pedicure. They don’t use the«tubs» that most of the walk-in places use, the kind that are not always hygienic and can cause toe Fungus. Appointments are needed, but remember to double-clarify the time! The color selection is a little limited but you can always find a good one. The Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are located at the Sanbusco Center, so parking is not a problem. Restrooms are clean and the place is nicely appointed.

Tried to get an appointment with Leana for color but she was understandably booked up. So I asked for someone who is as good, and they set me up with a very young girl, probably just out of school. She did a terrible job, and when I asked very nicely and apologetically for some amendment, she was quite huffy. Fortunately the woman who I think was the owner came to my rescue and was very gracious and told the young girl what to do.

I went to get some highlights put into my brown hair and I left with platinum hightlights which were pretty severe. My hair had a very bleached look and Sara really didn;t spend time finding out what I wanted. She did what she wanted and I was in tears. She said that she could redo it at another time. but I refuse to go back there. Why is this place number one in Santa fe?

One of the worst pedicures I’ve ever had. Started with uncomfortable seats, old towels, and questionable tools. Technician had to be reminded of really basic things… like taking polish completely off before applying the new color. The whole place feels dirty and tired. Not worth the time or expense.

After hundreds of $$$ trying to get the Aveda mild relax treatment, they messed up/lifted my hair color in the back!!!, then tried to ‘patch it up’ with BLACK… BLACK dye making me look like a dominatrix. I cried for 10 minutes in my car, and went back in tears, they ‘lifted’ some of the black, and left me a reddish brassy tone that is YUCKY and looks so unreal, so I will never have the same hair color I had worked for years to achieve thanks to them. NOT only that but their manager, never called even after knowing and reading a letter that expressed my distress an un happyness, I think her name is Melody or something, not even after I facebooked them to try to get in touch with her… I had to file a complaint with the Santa Fe Barbers Association, form is on line, I recommend that you use it, so they stop getting this bogus ‘reviews as to number one’ in Santa Fe. I am not the only one either, while I was there an irate client was trying to get in touch with the manager which she kept avoiding. Other women have told me their horrible experiences and of course I have been sharing mine as well… KARMA people Skip the drama, and the $$$ you will dish out. I am going to go the distance to ABQ

I’ve been to Rock Paper Scissors for my hair cuts and have had positive experiences. I found out about Jenna through other reviews so for my 2nd time, I wanted to make an appointment with her. I went during the lunch hour and it was refreshing that I was done with time to spare to drive back to work. The service is good, staff are friendly and I had to wait about 1 minute for Jenna to get started. She listened to what I wanted and I do like the cut! They offer free 15 minute touch-ups which I will take advantage of later on. What I don’t like is getting charged $ 60 for getting a trim. I literally asked for ¼ inch to be taken off but you know what, I know that stylists just charge a flat fee, regardless of how much or little they cut off. Overall, I do recommend the salon!

Can’t say anything about the hair because I only went for a manicure. Though the woman that did my nails was very sweet and accommodating it was obvious that she was inexperienced and very slow. Frankly I could have done a similar job myself… I’m used to quickly done and professionally looking nails and I left with a sloppy job. Again, the staff was very friendly and the environment was nice but I won’t be going back…

i normally don’t write reviews. in fact, this is my first. i’ve been contemplating whether or not to write it for months. but i have to say something about my terrible cut and experience with this salon! my hair is important to me, and i usually only get it cut in houston where i have a stylist i love. she recently moved to singapore and i now live in santa fe, so i figured i’d try something here. denise cut my hair. it was a simple reverse bob. it was cut crooked. i felt awkward complaining, so i let it go for a few weeks.(keep in mind that my super-thick hair grows super slowly). plus, i was secretly hoping it wasn’t super-noticeable to others. but when my friend took a picture and posted it to facebook, i realized it was really waaaay more crooked than i thought. i asked my friends, and they said they thought it was supposed to be like that. it wasn’t. so, i went to the salon, and the owner happened to be sitting up front. this was 4 weeks after the cut. i told her that my hair was not cut right and that it was, like, 1 – 2 inches longer on the right side. she then told me hair grows at different rates. while that may be true, i know that hair does not grow one to two inches longer on one whole side of my head! she must have thought i was an idiot. she certainly looked at me like i was. i found her unwillingness to offer any help rude and infuriating, especially since denise told me that i could come back for«touchups» every few weeks until my next haircut. the owner did tell me to come back in 15 minutes to talk to denise, but i did not do it. for one thing, during my hair cut, the owner and denise talked smack about another customer who was dissatisfied right in front of me, and two, if the owner wasn’t willing to help, i figured the stylist wouldn’t be either. totally unprofessional and terrible customer service. i have friends that continue to patronize(because santa fe is small, where else to go?), but they have to keep careful watch and instruct the beauticians every step of the way. as for me, i refuse to go back; i believe stylists should know what they are doing(and be willing to fix things they eff up) if they are going to charge big-salon prices. i’m going to wait until i’m in a bigger city with better salons and Unilocal reviews that are so numerous that it would be hard to go wrong.

Meagan from Rock Paper Scissor did my hair and makeup for my wedding and I was extremely happy. My wedding was on a Sunday of a holiday weekend when the salon is closed but Meagan was willing to work that day and travel to my hotel. She did an excellent job on both my hair and makeup and my sister’s. I’m not from Santa Fe so I was very nervous about having my hair and makeup done for my wedding by someone I didn’t know. I had a trial run at another salon in Santa Fe and it was a disaster. But after my trial with Meagan I was totally at ease. She really listened to what I wanted for my look and executed it perfectly! The only reason I’m not giving 5 start is that the price was a bit high since there was an extra charge for a holiday weekend and I had to pay for travel time as well. But even with that I think it was worth every penny.

Making an appointment with Rock Paper Scissor was smooth, and they aren’t really slammed since it’s Santa Fe so that was good. I ended up getting my hair washed and trimmed by Denise who is super nice. However, I got there and had to wait at least 10 – 15 minutes before I was ushered into the chair. Didn’t I schedule an appointment and show up on time for a reason?(Less tip right there.) I was also confused to see employees wearing flip-flops in the salon. If you’re cutting hair with sharp scissors, you’ll see most professionals wear closed-toed shoes to avoid any risks. Could this suggest sub-par standards? Getting my hair washed was pretty mediocre, too. The sink was super uncomfortable for my neck, my body was at the wrong height in relation to the sink and there was water flying everywhere. Not doing that one again. Only got my hair trimmed since it was falling apart at the ends — Denise did a good job of this, but I’ve also never had a stylist ask me to turn my head left and right. I was also kind of shocked when she first started cutting my hair as she was sitting on a stool! Yeah, I’ll probably go back to my usual routine of getting my hair cut back home. Even if I do end up paying more, I know I’ll have a better experience.

Armature hour. Went in for a SIMPLE cut and got mangled. Luckily someone with actual experience came and attempted to fix it but even she was awful. Not to mention whole staff was unhelpful and rude. Don’t bother unless you enjoy being butchered.

For months and haircuts on end, I kept ending up with a so-called bob that looked like a triangle(think character from Dilbert). After reading many reviews of RPS on Google, I made an appointment with Jenna. I won’t let anyone else touch my hair — she is fabulous, listens to my requests, knows how to work with my hair, and keeps me looking great. I’m constantly asked by folks up here in Los Alamos for a referral to my stylist, so keep cards on hand accordingly. Christina, sorry you had bad service experience; I’ve had 1−½ years of excellent ones.
