Although I’m sad I can no longer visit Marina Pastries for delicious sandwiches, desserts, and various other goodnesses, knowing that they still produce desserts for large-scale orders throughout America brings me happiness. I’m partial to the food, as I helped pick out menu options. My ex was the Manager and together we taste-tested sandwiches and ingredients until everything was perfect. More recently though, I have continued assisting the company by designing labels for their desserts to be used on a specific airline: I-Can’t-Say-Which. But they’re still making scrumptious foods~!! just in a different locale and in more discreet(yet high-production) ways. xxo

The tuna salad sandwich is fantastic. I can’t get over how good the balsamic dressing is that comes with the side salad. I enjoy the fact that the gal behind the counter always remembers my name and recognizes my voice when I call. The chef is quite friendly and loves it when you place a take-out order in advance.

This place is right around the corner from me but no I am not biased. First off… set aside the pastries. Lets discuss the sandwiches. You won’t find a better sandwich within 10 miles of this place. Hands down. The serving size is huge and each comes with a side salad. It’s a bit pricey…8 $ish a go but still… it’s the quality we’re talking about here. Salads are great as well. I’ve had tuna and its top notch. Ask for the big daddy special… it’s basically a club with chicken, bacon, and avocado… yum. The main cook is funny and always greets everyone who comes in. The lady behind the register basically knows everyone’s name and is always warm. Pastries are pastries and theirs are better then Starbucks. If you honesty need me to say more then that, then your a pastry snob. There’s the little debbies in the 7 – 11, the stuff they pawn off at Starbucks, and then the quality you get a pastry place. This is the latter so enjoy. Nuff said. 1

I got a strawberry cake here that was good. The service is real bad though. It took about twenty minutes to get a mediocre breakfast sandwich. They forgot I ordered a coffee. It just ended up making me aggravated plus I had somewhere to get to… then traffic on wilshire today… bleh…

So they other guy didn’t try the food, but i did, so I win. Sandwiches here are a little overpriced but you get really good bread, good quality meats, and fresh vegetables. They throw on a couple extras like grilled, julienned carmelized onions, champagne dijon mustard, and a side salad with homemade vinagarette dressing. Got a couple of their muffins too which were delicious. Its not the best sandwich place on the west side, but if you are nearby and want to try something different you should go for it.

I’ve seen this place many times while visiting Petco across the street. it seemed nice enough, so I took a friend to go try. We walked out without ordering anything. So I guess I can’t be as objective as I would have liked, but still I would not come here again. The selection of food is pretty dismal and overpriced for a hole in the wall location. Sandwiches didn’t sound great and there weren’t many coffee selections. We were pretty inspired/hungry too, so the fact that we walked out was surprising. Price: Less than $ 9 for sandwiches Food: N/A(Didn’t try, but I wasn’t even remotely tempted) Service: Poor(We were the only ones there and the staff didn’t even seem to notice us.) Ambiance: Good(Looked cheery enough and there are some tables outside so you can bring your dog) Location: OK(It’s near Petco, but that’s about the best thing I can say about this place).
