Good service here! They bring out and serve you after you order at the counter. There’s both inside seating inside an adjacent office building and an outdoor patio. I thought the food here was pretty good — Thanksgiving and Avocado Melt are pretty awesome. The portions were a little small for its price though.

I just walked by this place today but quickly left. One of their employees(I assume he was an employee because he was wearing a simple things shirt) was standing out front smoking and spitting with another guy. Both of the guys then proceeded to throw their cigarette buts in the planter and street. This is my neighborhood and my community so I cringe when I see things like this. We are so close to the beach, could they not dispose the cigarette buts in the trash and not be constantly spitting as folks are walking by? Doesn’t represent their brand well, was very unappetizing and I wouldn’t give them any business because of it. The manager should ensure that employees aren’t smoking right next to the entrance. Furthermore, I believe smoking in public spaces in Santa Monica is prohibited.

My office ordered from here on 11÷20÷15 for lunch. I ordered the Thanksgiving sandwich(turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc), tomato soup, and a small banana crème pie. The soup was good(arrived lukewarm but it was tasty enough) and the sandwich was just eh. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either and I still ate it. It just didn’t have a lot of flavor to it. They forgot to pack our pies in the delivery order(which is my pet peeve because it shows they don’t pay attention) so they brought over our pies(and additional complimentary pies) later. No utensils were provided in our delivery. I would be willing to give this place another try, but I would not go out of my way to go there.

Yuck. LOL this is the second time I have tried Simple Things(the first time was in Westwood when my husband and I literally left half our meals and just walked out — he had the roast beef and I had the egg salad sandwich — disgusting), I would not have ever tried them again if it was up to me but this time it was a work lunch and the receptionist wanted to try a new place, I was out on Friday when the order was submitted for us so she just ordered me a veggie sandwich. It comes with no sides and the vegetable pieces are large in size, this means when you bite into the sandwich, they fall out the back side and roll down your clothes, this is assured with the soggy, bendy bun that holds the vegetable pieces ever so precariously(this same thing happens with Tender Greens grilled vegetable sandwich — big fail on both restaurant’s part). I am not about to pay for dry cleaning again on top of a crappy sandwich! I took one bite and the flavor was also just meh, so I tossed the remainder of the soggy mess. The desert looks good but I have not yet tried it. Two big thumbs down.

This place is great! I was pleasantly surprised by their chopped salad. I work close to this location so I figured I would try it again. I then tried their Greek Salad… so delicious!!! The staff is always super nice and they have great iced coffee. Definitely a go to for lunch ;)

There was a chalk board sign on the sidewalk«PIE!» so obviously I turned a left to go get pie. I should have just kept walking. I wasn’t impressed with the interior of this place at all, it looks very sterile and there’s no indoor seating. I opted for their kale salad with chipotle chicken and a mini salted caramel pie. The salad was so bland, the chicken had zero chiptole flavor and I wasn’t a fan of the dressing either. They also gave it to me freakishly fast so I’m not sure if it was premade and waiting in a fridge out back. I’m talking faster than McDonalds. The pie was good but not worth $ 4, it was three bites! I may go back for their mid size $ 6 pies but I’m in rush. There’s so many dining options in Santa Monica and simplethings just didn’t stand out.

I was really excited to realize there’s a Simplethings in Santa Monica, where I work. This is a sad watered down version of the charming Simplethings on West 3rd. The interior of the shop is very blah and there’s no indoor seating. There are 42-seater tables outside in the sun and I was told there was more seating in the atrium of the office building, but I didn’t go inside because I had my dog with me. Ended up taking my order to go since it was 90 degrees outside and I didn’t want to sit directly in the sun. Anyway, I ordered the sweet potato sandwich: sweet potato …9.75 grilled sweet potatoes, apples, jammy onions, chevre spread, avocado, cumin coleslaw, pretzel roll The onions and chevre spread were missing. The pretzel roll was dry and starting to get hard. Parking in the lot is not validated so try parking at meter. I’ll stick to West 3rd.

I think this is their newest location, it is a bit bigger than the rest with nice seating and an open, airy vibe. Service was excellent, I went with some coffee and a box of pies to go, opting for the bigger, $ 6 size this time. Much better value than the mini pies, I still can’t decide which I like best. They go from tart with lemon to super sweet with chocolate peanut butter, I love them all! I brought them to a party and everyone loved them, the $ 6 size is perfect for sharing or not if you are really in the need for some self loving(I didn’t share)

These sandwiches are SO good. SOGOOD. My coworkers and I go here often. Everything is delicious! It is a tad pricey, and sometimes takes a long time. But we just can’t stay away.

Came around 12:15 on a weekday. Not too much of a line(about 5 people), but definitely a wait to get your food. The atmosphere of the place is relatively nice and clean. Play good chill music. Serves Stumptown roasters. Sandwiches are about $ 10 – 11 after tax, so a little on the higher end. Doesn’t come with any sides either. I got the Cubano and friend got the Thanksgiving. Portion on Thanksgiving could be better but the Cubano was loaded with meat. Overall, tasted real good. Would not wait, so maybe call ahead

It’s a great little lunch spot. We go there at least once per week. The staff is really nice, and they take really good care of you. The only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is the inconsistent menu. I’ve had maybe 6 different sandwiches and 2 salads. The tuna melt, and Thanksgiving sandwiches are ridiculously good. The other sandwiches were good, but not great, and the salads weren’t anything to write home about. Still, we’ll keep going back because it’s quick and good.

Happy that simplethings is now in Santa Monica. Employees are nice and efficient. Food is flavorful and consistent. Enjoy the outdoor eating area. Now I can get my pie fix and not trek all the way to Westwood: D
